Great hostel, friendly staff and good facilities with value for money. ”
This hostel is quite well managed considering it is mostly run by backpackers. The facilities are good, has free tea, coffee and sometimes food and the staff are friendly and very helpful. The amenities are good too. You can meet other like minded people here and get good advice for your travel plans.
Wonderful Hostel ”
It was clean, well maintained, has a good kitchen and the staff are all great. I have been traveling Japan for almost a month with 3 other people and this has been our favorite hostel by far. Cannot reccomend enough.
little far from Kyoto station so with children was inconvenient
Staff were helpful and accommodating, be prepared to travel a lot.”
The rooms were ok and neat, facilities were neat and use of kitchen was good. The location of the hostel was a bit out of the way from most attractions so be prepared to use public transport for most of your travels.
Awesome staff and environment
Comfortable futons!! ”
The location is a little far from the center but nevertheless very comfortable and cozy. Would recommend if you’re going to Kinkakuji or Ginkakuji. Bathrooms so clean and there is a kitchen to cook if you wish
Owner and staff was very rude, would not recommend”
I arrived in Kyoto late and had to check in late. It was a long walk from the main Kyoto station. The self check in system, had poor instructions and signs. There was no list of which room I was suppose to be in, and there was a key hanging that was free according to signs. When I went into the room and asked if it was the mixed dorm room, someone replied yes and I got the last bed. Owner comes in at 3am yelling and demanding that I leave the bed. Not knowing what was happening I gathered my stuff and go out, all while the owner impatiently yelled at me to move faster, when I was just woken up. Next, he asks why I was in this bed. I showed him the key with the room number on it, I also told him that there was no staff or no check in list, and I assumed the one key left, was for me. He angrily scolded me, and didn’t apologize. Then he just Put a small mattress on the floor of another dorm room, and told me to sleep there. I paid to be woken up and sleep on the floor at 3:30am
We feel Kyoto's soul”
This place is very close to Ginkakuji Temple and we really feel Kyoto. Mini minus we got the 2nd floor and the stairs are very small. It's very difficult to carry a suitcase up to the top.
Kind host & Harmonious atmosphere ”
The host is friendly and kind. It is pretty quiet around here. The shower room and laundry is good to use. However,it is a little far from shopping zone and famous sites.
Great price. Location was an issue, it's 1km to the closest metro station. Buses run very close by, but unless you speak/read Japanese, they aren't really viable. Very close to a selection of marts and supermarkets, so lots of food options. Cleaned thoroughly everyday which was good. Staff were pleasant. Limited English but still extremely helpful. All facilities you would expect available, including use of kitchen. Even free tea and coffee. More then enough toilets and showers. Laundry and tumbledryer.
A bit noisy for family travellers”
Location is far from major places of interest. Ground floor rooms are noisy as they near the living room and guests usually chat and eat there. Japanese style room is smelly due to long term use. Toilet and bathroom is clean. Tatami is cosy also. Two supermarkets are nearby. Some restaurants also.
Great location with everything you'd need in a hostel.”
Kitchen was stocked with everything you'd need and it was just minutes from Ginkakuji, the Philosophers Path and more. Only 300 yen for bike rental for a day, do it, without a doubt the cheapest and best way to see this city. Bottom bunks had curtains, but tops didnt, don't know why, but made for earlier mornings than desired. Hollow flooring on top floor, can hear everyone walk, if you're a somewhat heavier sleeper than there'd be no problem. Cheapest washing machine I've seen so far and near to quite a few supermarkets.
"Great location. Lovely accommodation "”
Wonderful hostel environment. Clean. Friendly.
GOOD LOCATION FOR KYOTO.U OR GINKAKUJI VISITERS ”
its very clean and quiet.a good choice when you want to visit Kyoto.U or Ginkaku temple. the staff was nice and kind.
Much more affordable compared to similar properties in the area. The room was really nice and staff were great. Free bike usage for up to 1.5 hours. Only negative was 10am checkout.
