Best hotels & accommodations in Chiang Mai

Everything was great except there are many mosquitoes at this time ( April) in Chiang Mai so remember to bring along anti mosquitoes gel. Breakfasts (BKF) were excellent. The hostel changes BKF everyday sometimes there are delicious traditional cakes. Cold water is free at reception. In Chiang Mai you can use Grab ( car or motorbike) service. It is very handy so do i...

My boyfriend and I were impressed from the very beginning! 33 Poshtel was a perfect haven for our 5-day stay in amazing Chiang Mai. The facilities are pleasing to the eyes, the location is so convenient (street market, temples, shopping malls, etc. mere minutes away by foot or Grabcar), and above all, the staff are outstanding. Special thanks to front desk lady Oil & 3...

Stayed here for my first two nights in Chiang Mai before I got my own apartment. If you a re a digital nomad, I can't recommend this place highly enough. There were no backpackers or party animals here. It's super clean. I had a bed in a dorm with-out bunkbeds. 3 walls and a curtain with locker space under the bed. Was very comfy and quiet with power outlets compatib...

We had booked into a guesthouse which turned out to be terrible and so we made a last minute booking the next morning for this place. Headed straight there after and although was 2 hours before check-in time the lady on reception was happy to accommodate. We had booked for 2 beds in one of the dormitories, but as they didn't have 2 spaces in the same room she instead...

We really enjoyed our stay at Arak, the staff is really sweet, the little cafe downstairs is awesome! Really nice coffee, Thai iced tea & fresh croissants & muffins every day. It's located on the outer ring of old town, so it's easy to catch a red truck cab to anywhere in town, & it's also very close to the airport. Only issue we had was that being near the street it ...

It was an excellent six nights stay at MIND Villa. The room was extremely big at 55 sqm and very new and clean. The owners were very friendly and helpful, especially in preparing the breakfast. Every morning, we had something new and the spread was very wide. I would definitely return to stay when I am next in Chiang Mai.

This is my first time as a solo traveller. I booked this hostle because of my friend, she had a great experience there. It is in the good location. You can walk through Nimman Road to many restaurants and shops. The room is so cute, stylish and clean. But I was disappointed by the staff who was not willing to help and not informative. I didn't even know if I can drink ...

I stayed here for 3 nights from 19th sep to 22th sep and retrun again from Pai for another 2 more nights before leaving, i had a twin bunk bed room with balcony. For the price and what they give you is super fine! The room was clean and the shared bathroom too! I would like to Thanks the staff esp. Ms. Sunny that help out on my Laundry, food and transportation in and...

The manager, Uncle Tao, and his staff are amazing, so helpful, friendly, and they were so great to our little boy, taking him for walks to the market when they had to get stuff and buying him treats. If you book any activities or day trips through them you get a discount. The location, in my opinion, is one of they best locations to be in Chiang Mai. You are basically ...

Sleepwalker was beautiful, clean, and had all the amenities we could have asked for. After staying at a few other hostels in Thailand, we were really impressed with how luxurious it felt to stay here. The family that owns it was also very kind and helpful (we had been looking forward to visiting a specific restaurant and as we were heading out, they asked us where we w...

I absolutely LOVED this hostel. Pretty much the best one I’ve stayed in to date. Hostels in Chiang Mai are pretty competitive so there’s quite a bit of quality at a low price point. I stayed the the 4 person mixed dorm. It’s the delux room. Each bed comes with a private desk area. It was a short walk to the bathroom. 5 showers and 5 stalls. Never had to wait. 3 sinks a...

“If I am going to run a hostel(which definitely in a not distanced future will), this is what I want in my head”, I wroted the day I left my HOME@Chiang Mai, Green Sleep Hostel. 1. Superb concept: Green Sleep. What modern individuals need today is definitely good sleep, and the hostel offers more than just that. It's green. it's clean, and it's just zen. What I was lo...

We have 1 night in Chiang Mai, we choose Hugnur because it’s between old city and night bazaar. Hostess is so friendly, room is clean, hostel is so nice decoration, beside hostel has 1 dessert restaurant is so crowded. General, I like this hostel and I will come back next time.

First of all the facility is super clean...

Nice and convenient as the hostel located not too far from the Chiangmai International Airport just 10-15 minutes drive and also close to shopping area. Staff helpful and well recommended for general information and tour. Clean and quiet...Valued for money!

The room does not contain sounds from other rooms (we could hear everything until 3 am). There was construction on 1st floor but we were not informed and we were fully charged for the room which is not cheap comparing to some other nearby hotels. Staff were nice but seem confused and we had to call 3 numbers to reach the real owner. However, the location is very conven...

I love the interior design and arrangement of this hostel. Just a comment though on the beds, a little privacy (perhaps some curtains) will be better :) There's a free simple breakfast, and the staff were all pleasant to help us with our tours and navigation within the city. Will stay here again soon when I visit Chiang Mai. :)

Good location, walking distance to walking street. Very nice style, clean.Very cozy!!!Nice coffee shop on the first floor. This is everything that we had a chance to see and experience for the short time we saw this property :)By the time we arrived the A/C in our room was broken and we were provided with a room in another hotel not far from this place with a very good...

D-Well was by far the best hostel I stayed during my trip in Thailand. The staff was amazing and super helpful. I stayed for three nights, and by the first night the staff knew me and everyone in my party by first name. There was always someone available for help even during the nights. They had an answer to any concerns or questions I had, and even helped me book acti...

This hostel is one my favourites! It’s cool, Morden and the decor is just super stylish. The dorm is really big and there is a lovely little chill spot in the dorm where you can relax. The bed is one of the comfiest I have slept on and the bathroom is very clean with great interior design and excellent shower. There is also a lovely little balcony which you can enjoy....

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the hostel. It was essentially a small boutique hotel that had hostel beds in the bedrooms as opposed to the standard room setup. Also, the hostel beds weren't the standard bunks which one would normally find in hostels, but more sleeping capsules, providing a high degree of privacy considering it was a hostel and not a hote...

My private room was clean and spacious, shower worked great. The location is close to lots of restaurants and is in a quieter area with less backpackers. Area feels very safe, nightlife here dies down earlier. The owner was very cool! Offered extra food for breakfast, all of which tasted amazing, and was very helpful in assisting me to find my next hostel and area of...

It was totally great stay. A well located hostel with great value. It is one of the closest hostel to the Maya shopping mall and a chick area called Nimmanhaemin. If you are going to stay in Chiang mai more than a week. I would recommend you to stay in this area. You will get better restaurants and cafes than old city area. The host Woody is the best part of this hoste...

Very nice hostel in Chiang Mai. It's located very close to the night bazar, what is very convenient because you'll probably go there more than once. The double room with private bathroom is very good so nothing to complain. Note: bring your repellent because the mosquitos are everywhere in Chiang Mai, even inside the room.

Actually just loved this place, best hostel I've been to. All personel were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was incredible. I was there during Loi Krathong and they (the personel) tought me how to do a Krathong and invited me to have dinner with them. Only reason you wouldn't stay here is if your intrest in Chiang Mai is to party in the Old Town. Otherwise I'd sa...

We had a brilliant confortable stay in Uno Chiang Mai.After travelling through Thailand for the past 4 weeks,Uno has being without a doubt the best place we have stayed in.We originally had only planned to stay 2 nights in Chiang Mai but changed our plans & ended up staying for 6 nights.Would highly recommend checking this place out if you are staying in Chiang Mai.

I loved the Suneta hostel in Bangkok so I gravitated towards this one when looking for a place in Chiang Mai, and I was not disappointed. The hostel is modern and very clean - staff constantly are cleaning the areas. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! One of the best for a hostel. The location is really great as it is clo...
Cheapest hotels in Chiang Mai

5 minutes walking distance from the night market which is super nice. Far away from the bus station tho (to consider if you want to take the bus to Pai or Chiang Rai at some point). The owner was very friendly and helpful. The dorm were very clean and quiet and the bed cozy and comfy. Would definitely recommend!

I've stayed in many hostels in my time, smelt some bad smells and experienced uncomfortable rooms but nothing has come close to the 'kozy hostel'. There is a lingering smell of sewage, the rooms are tiny with 12 people crammed in, we booked an aircon room and were put into a fan room. I don't want to sound like a snob I've stayed in fan rooms before but there was 0 cir...

I booked for 2 night ended up almost staying a week. The hostel is near all the nice things. The owners are really friendly and helped me out when I needed help! What I really like about the room is that you have your own cabin, and a locket for you whole backpack! If I ever come back to Chiang Mai I would stay here again.

-Great Location, no traffic noise at night -Stayed in a mixed dorm, majority of the guest staying here are male, but everyone was polite & friendly -It's quite a "social" place, if you prefer to meet up or hang out with other travelers, this is a suitable place -There are lockers inside the room where you can put your belongings inside -Air-condition is working well a...

Near the Park was a great place to stay. The staff was super friendly and helpful with making sure I was able to do the things I wanted to do during my time in Chiang Mai. The bathrooms were not very clean and I am not sure that my sheets had been cleaned either, but other than that the hostel was a great place to stay. It was in a great location in the old city as wel...

No body knows where is the hostel, so is difficult to find when you just arrive, but is really in the center so you can walk everywhere. There's no body in the reception before 8 am or at night, which is a problem when you arrive or wanna leave early. Only one of the girls from the staff is very nice and speaks english, but if she's not there you're gonna struggle. The...

Loved the boxtel! Much more private than a hostel but as cheap as one. Enough room for stuff inside the box, cozy mat, bedding and towels and toiletries, coffee, water and tea for free, computers you can use, good WiFi, a kitchen and laundry machine for use, very quiet but 5 minutes to Chiang Mai gate with both day and night markets... And the owner is amazing, always...

One of the best hostels I've been. Great location, close to the old town and a night market. The place is very quiet, at the end of a pedestrian street. The rooms are clean, with comfortable beds, and most of all, the curtains in the dorm make all the difference. You get all the privacy you need even in the dorm. The simple breakfast included in the price is also a ...

Panda Hostel is a nice place to stay in the old citybof Chiang mai. The dorm room is big with curtain for privacy. Matress is hard but like everywhere in Thailand. You have access to hot water all day with tea bags or coffee and a microware which is nice. The staff is kind but they don't speak English. It is a Hostel where the clients are from Chinese as the staff is f...

I booked for only 1 night but decided to extended because the staff was really really nice and helpful. She recommended me for places to travel, local food and must try restaurant and coffee shops, night markets, temple. basically she gave me a map and point out famous places to go. She added me on Line and fast reply every questions i asked about directions and places...

This is my 2nd stay in this hostel. First of all, the owner and his family are nice and helpful. Second, the dorm room is nice and spacious with the lockers in it. Third, the bathrooms and the toilets, which are located outside the room, are nice and clean. I'll definitely stay here again next time I come back to Chiang Mai again! Highly recommended!!

For my first trip in Chiang Mai I booked to Oh my Bed for 2 days but I stayed 3 more days. The staff is adorable, like a family. They are very helpful if you need something. They can also book activities for you like that you can have a discount. They recommend you some very good place to eat or drink. The breakfast is wonderful as well. The bed is the best that I coul...

We stayed at Potae's House for just a night, having come from another guest house, and I wish we had stayed at Potae's longer. She was so nice and very helpful in getting us a rental bike and waking up early to give us the key deposit. Finding things to do in Chiang Mai seems to be all taken care of there. The room was pretty basic, but everything was very clean which ...

Literally the best hostel I have stayed in Chiang Mai , location is great very close to everything literally !! The hostel was so clean from the toilets to the rooms as the staff were always cleaning. It feels Like an apartment the people around staying was also very nice People and respectfully. You have a space to relax outside your room it’s like a living room wi...

Cancelled booking at another hostel to go for the 9 hostel due to its high rate on agoda and paid for cancellation fee for the 1st booking but never regretted it! My stay at the 9 hostel was awsome and so much fun!! Met many lovely people. The owner was incredibly friendly and hospitable. Totally enjoyed my stay in Chiang Mai. Would definitely come back here. Love both...

this is a very very quiet hostel. the coffee is amazing here. Definitely not a social hostel if that's what your looking for (which I was) but a great place to get some rest or maybe do some work on a laptop. I forgot to hand in my keycard and accidently took it to pai. I messaged the owner who was totally cool about it and let me bring it back whenever I returned to c...

You really get what you pay for. No toiletries whatsoever. Trashcans in bathroom are plastic bags on door knob (I assume it's for easy cleaning for them), not so clean bathrooms (pretty disgusting), only 3 bathrooms that include shower and only one hot shower bathroom (bad ventilation: I almost passed out while taking a shower), no wifi in rooms except the tiny common ...

I stayed here for only 1 night but I found this place very impressive, the staffs are friendly and the people in my room were great. (I stayed in 4-bed female room). Location is quite good considering I could walk from the hostel to other places (along the old city of Chiang Mai) The bathroom and toilet was a little bit old but it's clean which was very nice. But I'm n...

This place is awesome, I booked there 2 nights and it's worth so much the money and I am going back there for sure , they have free water , free coffee , free cycle and free breakfast. All this adds up to the cost when you pay them . They may not have the best English but all of them are really hard working . Its completely worth the money .
4-star hotels in Chiang Mai

My stay was nice and comfortable. I booked via agoda so that I could have a place without looking after 21hr flight. I originally booked for 2 nights, and then added 2 more after arrival. The place is in a great location and is very clean and cozy. The single room, however, is very small. There isn't a place to store your belongings so it feels even smaller because you...
Traveler impressions of Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is quite a pleasant city but with a lot of traffic during day time. The area within the old city walls are good to walk around absorbing the city life and visiting numerous temples.
A very different city compared to Bangkok. People are much friendlier and have a very different attitude towards tourists.
Peace and super clean city. Has many activities to do like trekking, drafting, jumping bungy etc... Food is very cheap and deliciuos.
chiengmai province is one of a beautiful romance and lovely country of thailand you will see a lot of amazing things there such as temples foods beautiful natural place elephant villege that will make you can not forget it espectialy the friendly people there.
Peaceful city. Nice place for switching off your brain for few days, self-drive friendly and a lot of hawker food bazaar around.
I Really liked Chiang Mai, it was a total change from what I experienced in Bangkok & Phuket. The people were really friendly and didn't hassle you for money.
Small narrow roads everywhere you go, several taxi and tuk tuk all over, food is excellent, food vendors on every street, several malls in the area.
the tuk tuk / taxi price is not standard sometimes, i usually would ask local hotel staff the price as reference in advance
very nice city... much slower than Bangkok, easy to move around and able to join many outdoor activities, excellent.
Efter at have fejret jul i Bangkok var det dejligt at genbesøge Chiang Mai til nytår og at komme ned i gear i denne rolige by
Chiang Mai is now a very diverse city. Every year I travel to this city and slowly seeing this transition.
If you enjoy trekking, elephant camps, and drinking, this is your place. Having said that, you can enjoy all of these activites equally in Chaing Rai, for much less money, and also enjoy the White Temple, Golden Triangle, and the summer palace of the King's mother (a truly remarkable woman!)
Beautiful and good weathered City in Thailand to visit between November to January for the cool weather.
Loved Chiang Mai - best part of the visit was visiting the Elephant Nature Park and walking the night market and culinary food tour of the night market
Hi, Chaing Mai is a peaceful city. Everything are very slow, it will be suitable for someone who need the fresh air and low noise
It is easy to get around and explore alleys because the old city perimeter is aligned to the north. Asian families would probably prefer the north west side of the old city (Nimmana)
Chiang Mai is very relaxed and enjoyable with many varied activities to choose from, a regional cuisine that is distinct from southern Thailand and great night markets.
Nice place and very different setting from bustling Bangkok. Beautiful Temples, Mountains to trek and lots os spas and massage.
I like this small city, it is quite and you can spend time in the city as you enjoy the local spa or you can walking around the mountain.
Very lively city, a lot to see and do. Great cooking classes. Main thing to know : tourist must stay in the city as city traffic management is verypoor : red lights take between 3 and 4 minutes, as a result it can take 45 MINUTES TO ONE HOURS FOR A MILE !
Beutiful city, warm welcome of local people, weahter is chilling during december and january. Relaxing.
A huge range of activities in and around Chiang Mai, which will suit all types. Rivers, Mountains, Caves, Gardens, Elephants etc etc Often changing, so best to consult local tour operators.
Chiang Mai is the base to go do many different outdoor activities in the mountains and the countryside: hiking, rafting, climbing, kayaking etc.
Chiang Mai is a hub of many surrounding destinations. The airport is wonderful and modern and the transportation to and from is easy and affordable.
If have time, suggest to go up on hill in winter season and stay there for few days, natural view, weather, local food and friendliness of people
One of the most beautiful cities I have visited. Lots to do and see whether shopping, night life, dining, and massages for relaxing.
Chiang Mai is most beautiful city, you can enjoy with every place and have many activities around there especially about cultural and traditional.
great place to visit the sites but I recommend renting a car with a GPS to get around in. The city can be a little confusing without a GPS.
Love Chiang Mai but the decision to close bars at 12am spoilt this trip for me. During the day I am busy enjoying al the activities in the area and like my wee snooze before I go out socialising but by the time I had dinner then on to the bars I was left with about 2 hours max .
Nice place for those like to eat and enjoy coffee, there're a lot of coffee shop, restaurants and dessert shops in Nimmanna Haeminda Rd.
