"This hotel is a great bang for the euro. But make sure you realize what it is. It's a hostel geared towards a younger crowd, not the Ritz. Once you understand what the demographic is, you'll realize this hotel is great. The rooms are clean and functional. There is no TV, but this is Paris. If you're watching TV, you're doing it wrong. If you want a hair dryer, you need to trade your passport or id at the front desk for one (remember the demographic). The restaurant is functional & cheap, but recommend spending a few more euros on better options (but great for that Americano or hot chocolate after a day of sightseeing). There is a lounge area for smokers (covered area between two buildings). Location is right on Colonel Fabien circle with a metro right on the circle (serious selling point as it made everything accessible). There are also restaurants on the circle and many more just a short walk away. Staff was stupendous - super friendly and helpful. Well worth it!"

St Christopher's Inn Paris - Gare du Nord
10th - Gare du Nord,Paris - View on map
"I arrived at Gare du Nord train station, Paris from the CDG airport (easy - phew!) and found that St Christopher's Inn was easy to find once you navigated yourself out of the station and found your bearings on Rue de Dunkurque (walk towards the post office). Although I arrived early they were very friendly and offered me a shower to freshen up and (paid) lockers to hold my stuff until 2pm check in. If you forget anything like a towel (whoops!), you can rent one for the length of your stay as well as buy other basic essentials. I found the staff very informative, spoke English well and tried their best to accommodate my every need. The room (6 mixed dorm) and bed linen were really clean (amazing doona!), warm and secure. You also got a massive drawer to lock your stuff in under your bunk. The showers were good but the cleaning agent/or disinfectant in the showers/communal bathroom was pretty stinky?! I also found it difficult to keep pressing the shower button whilst having a shower due to a neurological disorder in my arm but I managed. They were of a decent size so you could get changed in the cubicle without getting your clothes wet. The food at night was good (I'm a vegetarian - burger pattie was really dry) but not fantastic. The continental breakfast was on the other hand great and good quality! Baguettes, cheese, cereal, coffee, juice, etc. nice. I also used the laundry facilities up stairs (about 5 Euro wash and dry), which was good. Overall my stay there was great and will stay there again en route back to Oz. Can't really fault anything of locker, towel rent and laundry costs as well as stinky bathrooms but otherwise the location is pretty darn awesome! Thanks guys and gals. Looking forward to seeing you all again!! Oh and the free day tour with Roberta through Paris is so worth it!! Just rug up and don't drink too much coffee beforehand (no toilets!! ha!)."

St. Christopher's Canal Hostel
19th - Buttes-Chaumont,Paris - View on map
"The reception is usually always pretty busy but that's a good sign. The free buffet style breakfast is great for getting an early start on your day to see Paris' attractions easily accessible from the Pink line just a short 5-8 minute walk from the hostel along the canal. If you walk a little more there's gorgeous parks where you can sit and picnic overlooking the Science museum. Later at night, grab a drink at the bar right in the lobby and continue your after party like I did with friends from around the globe drinking strange liquor that the Argentinian girl brought from back home. Overall, this Hostel was a pleasant experience. Would recommend."

Le Regent Montmartre by Hiphophostels

"fantastic hotel in one word! the morning free break fast was little poor. couple juices and three different types of breads with jam or butter. but it's enough for the morning. hotel maintenance was surprisingly good. room conditions too. beds are little squeeky but it was clean and no smell in the room or baths room. the front desk is too small and there only two staff working so it will probably be next day by the time you check in. it's the best price hotel in Paris to stay for one night"

Le Montclair Montmartre by River

"As a first time solo traveller, this was a wonderful place to stay. Montmartre is a very artistic area in Paris, so the location is within walking distance of some great places. The hostel offered breakfast which I didn't facilitate, but they offered a variety of snacks and drinks too. They also have laundry facilities, which was useful. The room had air con, which was a God send with the warm weather. The price was really, really good too. 3 nights for €49! The staff were friendly, helpful and had a 24-hour reception. I'm so pleased this was my first hostel experience. The hostel was very clean, quiet and colourful. I will definitely be back and will recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Paris!"
