Backpackers' Inn Chinatown

"I was really frustrated to find a room with privacy, unlike the pods that is famous in Singapore. I was really happy staying in Backpackers' Inn. There is privacy and the room is nice and comfortable. The room is also clean as well as the comfort room too. The location is near from the Chinatown station. You can find restaurants in the street. The staffs are nice. They are all Filipina. So to all filipinos out there, this hotel will be perfect for you. "

Atlantis Pods @ Little India
Little India,Singapore - View on map
"This hostel is absolutely superb, the staff ( Caidi, Prince and bankala) are friendly, helpful, full of local knowledge and go the extra mile. The facilities are cleaned daily, rooms are spacious, air conditioned, large shelfs for the bigger backpacks, free wireless internet even in the toilet. Housekeeping is everyday between 12pm and 2pm but the owners are very flexible on that rule, just inform them first if you need to get some stuff done, but anyway at that time you should be exploring the wonderful city of Singapore. I stayed in a mixed capsule and had no complaints whatsoever - of course reviews like this and the ones below makes this a popular place to stay, I don't think there was one day when this place wasn't fully booked - book early."

Dream Lodge

"Frankly the best hostel I've ever been to. Best hostel beds I've ever slept in, with a good curtains for added privacy. Really clean and good toilets with provided shower gel and shampoo. Breakfast was about standard for a hostel, not amazing, but above average. The hostel is owned and ran by a Singaporean couple. They are absolutely lovely and will be genuinely interested in knowing you and helping you around Singapore. The location is decent. It's 5 min from a metro station which gives access to the whole city. If you're looking for a quiet homely feeling and meet a few people this is without a doubt an amazing option in Singapore. If you want to party hard it's still a quality place to stay, but perhaps not the hostel environment you're looking for. "

iStay.inn - an urban art hostel
Chinatown,Singapore - View on map
"iStay Inn was an amazing experience. At first when looking at the pictures, I was unsure, because of the artwork on the wall. But once I got there, it had a very quint feeling to it, just felt like staying at a friend's place. Don't be fooled by the 'urban art', this was just a theme to the hostel and the rooms were white and clean. The staff was amazing and very friendly, I ended up becoming friends with the owner of the hostel. She's an amazing person and always there to help. Makes an effort to make sure you have a good stay at the hostel. The people I met at the hostel were great also, they were very respectful of the after 11pm quiet time. At night, you can just sit outside (like a balcony), and just chat with other travellers. It was pretty cool. The room itself was very clean and air-conditioned. It was sufficient room for me (solo) and it had lockers, bed lamp and outlet plug for each bed. I stayed in a room with no windows which I liked because it was quiet, but even the windowed rooms were pretty quiet (the hostel was away from all the bars). Location, you can't beat this location, it's at the prime area in Chinatown, and you're walking distance from Club st. (The street with bars and restaurants). Even though, you're one street off Club st., I couldn't hear any noise from that street. And you definitely couldn't hear any noise from Chinatown. Facilities, the washroom was very clean and the showers were fine. Don't expect it to be luxurious, it just has the basics soap / shampoo. For breakfast, there was free fruit and bread which you can use to toast, and some peanut butter and jam. Nothing fancy, it was sufficient. I think for what you pay for, it's a great deal. My criteria's for choosing a hostel was that it was clean, quiet and location, and iStay Inn satisfied all 3. Thanks for making my experience in Singapore memorable. If I plan to come back, I'll definitely stay at iStay Inn again! "

"One of the best experiences in my life is, staying at this Space pod in Singapore. believe me it was not just a usual hostel, rather, something really unique and exotic. In this hostel, every person gets their own pod and it's out of the world sort of experience, literally, out of the world as it seems staying on some other planet, rather than, Earth. You get air conditioning system and lightning which can be changed according to your mood, which was very tempting! In common area, all of us travelers from around the world would gather and share our stories and experiences of traveling to different parts of the world. Met many people, made some good friends and most of all memories which will be cherished for the rest of life!"

Beary Best! Chinatown

"I stayed at BB hostel with a girlfriend one night before our departure to the US. I did read reviews on Singapore hostels before I selected it from the Agoda website. It is nice that BB offers private bedroom for two with shared bath with other females.I only saw another female when I used the bathroom. My roomate saw two other females. The lodging is adequate for people who only need to sleep there for one or two nights and spend all of their time outside the hostel, since the room is very small. No place to sit or stand except on your bunk bed.No elevator.Third floor is the top floor. No problems in walking to the third floor if one is in a good heath condition.Staff are nice and helpful. At the reception desk, there was a young man from Malaysia who works graveyard shift. He helped to bring my friend's small suitcase and mine to the lobby from the third floor. In daytime, we met a sweet and kind young Indian lady who also brought my friend's fruitcase upstairs. The bathroom hall is spacious, though the shower room (2) is small and looks worn out with all gray concrete. The bathroom is adequate and not smelly. It could be better if they repaint the ugly gray concrete wall. Excellent location to Chinatown's People park with cheap eating (3 to 5 Singaporean dollars for a dish of steam chicken/duck) and also three minutes to the neatest MRT/ Subway/Metro/Tube. Easy to find Taxi from Upper Cross street. It cost us 21 Singaopean dollars to Changi airport when we left at 6:30 am that morning. Please be aware that taxi costs more btween midnight and 6am.No MRT/ Subway after midnight. ."
