This hotel/ hostel hybrid is a true vision of what every hostel/ hotel should be. I felt the right amount of separation and privacy from the typical hostel scene, but with all the social benefits from both the rooftop with hot tub, sun loungers and beautiful views of CBD and North Melbourne. Hotel Guest have access to Kitchen and also the very social bar downstairs. ...

This hostel is in the perfect location. It's right next to the tram so it makes getting around super easy. Its a short walk from a major restaurant street, local attractions, and the beach. The staff is very friendly and willing to give you a lot of recommendations. There were a lot of people staying here during my stay but didn't make as many friends as I do in other...

The property itself isn’t flash but the staff make up for whatever the place lacks in appearance. Shout out to Stu, the queen of hospitality, you are the best, thanks for being a huge help. Rooms are spacious, kitchen area is good for solo travellers to meet people, plus the little bar attached to the hostel is good fun.

I have always stayed in hotels, thought I'd try a hostel. Love the place, convenient and central to everything in CBD, my office included. I'm a light sleeper, still manage to get to sleep, even though there is a bar directly underneath (Down Under Bar). I normally stay in the fourth floor, free WIFI always works for me, never had any issues, ever, can't fault the plac...

Great Hostel where it is easy to connect and to make new friends! I stayed here for 5 days and really enjoyed my time here. My room was clean and big enough and I never saw a dirty kitchen (Except for 8-12pm on Friday night, but guess why ... :-P) Staff is very friendly and respectful. Thanks to John the legend-receptionist. He is doing a great job day and night!! Chee...

Stayed on a 6-bed all female dormitory with our own toilet and shower inside which are cleaned daily. Location is also very good, a good walk from Southern Cross station for the airport bus and pretty much everywhere, just one block away from the Queen Victoria Winter Night Market. Didn't purchase any transportation card as we went around Melbourne CBD. Hostel is als...

On the whole the hostel was average. The bathrooms were small and in disrepair as was the kitchen. The wifi didn't work and the staff uninterested. When we checked in we provided our passports for staff to photocopy, I needed a copy of my passport for my IRD application so I asked if I would be able to keep it when we checked out, I was told by staff that wasn't possib...

i got really cheap deal with it so decided to give it a go. little bit far from cbd but great coffe shop nearby and just short walk from free tram zone. nice staffs and because there's one empty room they let me checked in early. stayed for 2 nights and no noise at night. overall great hostel.

I really love the location of the hostel. It's just a few steps away from Flinders Street Station, St. Paul's Cathedral and Federation Square. People in the hostel are very friendly. Place is very clean and well-maintained. Had a comfortable sleep because of its spacious and airconditioned room plus the soft bed. They also have daily events/activities that will let the...

This could probably the best backpacker hostel in Australia. Centrally located, you can view Flinder street train station from the kitchen. I walked the whole city area without taking free tram. There’re plenty of supermarkets around, kitchen is big enough to prepare meals or do my work there. I stayed in female dorm, 4 pax with spacious room, ensuite toilet. The room ...

My friend and I stayed in a twin room with an ensuite- a nice, comfortable room for a hostel. (Some kind of soap holder would have been appreciated in the shower, though the bathroom was clean and water pressure was good!). All the accomodation in Sydney was very pricey during the weekend of the stay- given the fact, the cost of the room was reasonable. Beds were quite...

It wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t as bad as what others said in their reviews. Maybe they were expecting something like a 5 star hotel in a hostel. One of the cheapest hostels in Sydney and you also get to save on transpo since everything is walking distance. It is regularly cleaned everyday. Facilities great. My favorite are the staff. Special mention to Diego, Angelo, ...

I stayed in the private room with own toilet. The cleanliness was excellent! everything in my room was clean and sufficient. Location was only ok, because its a little out of town, but only a 3 minute walk to the tram stop! However, its cheap! so it made up a lot for the location. The hostel has a bar with a lot of events throughout the week. Although I did not ha...

advantages: awesome location. across the road, there are shopping malls, super market and many restaurants. train station, underground within 5 minutes walk. convenient to everywhere. the hostel has kitchen and a big open area for social. also has laundry room and laundry rack. bathroom is so clean. worth the price. disadvantages: the staff for night shift is really ...

I enjoyed staying in this hostel twice this month, the previous time I stayed there for 6 nights and this time stayed there for 2nights. In short, the location is perfect for me, near Flinder Street Station and the Victoria Market is just cross the road (P.S: Vic. Market opens 9am to 2pm and you can get lots of cheap veges and fruits there), this hostel is on the free ...

I was backpacking in Sydney and this hostel seemed the best option. If you are okay with sharing a room with 5-9 other people and you are social & like hanging out with other travelers, this is your place. Staff is helpful. And they try to keep the place as clean as possible. One thing I did not like was they (receptionist) asked me to download an app called TIPI and ...

we arrived at this hostel from perth by airport shuttle to central station and were only few minutes from our accommodation.as it was our first time in australia having never before stayed in a hostel we found staff really pleasant, rooms clean and no problem with noise. adequate kitchen facilities and free internet.as we were tourists we just needed a place to put our...

The location is great, at the rocks, within walking distance from opera house, harbor bridge, darling harbor, fish market, circular quay station, gardens, parks, shopping centers, ... Nice roof view as described by the hostel. it is the cleanest hostel i have ever seen. I stayed in 4 female dorm with private bathroom, it is clean. but no toiletries and towels provided,...

I knew this from my friend, she recomend as this is so far the best hostel you can stay in cairns, so i give it a go. Yep i found out its true! I made new friends in the room, we're out and having a good time together, the staff is also helpful and friendly, they always have something happening in the bar like free drinks free pizza, ect. Only the wifi is lame, and you...

Would definitely stay at Siesta Hostel again!!! It hit all the marks in our book!Very Clean, Safe, Roomy, Kitchen and was more than adequate for cooking "full meals", as well! There was also a nice standard size Washer & Dryer available, at no additional cost. WIFI was great and worked all the time we were there! There were no personal Microwaves, TVs or Refrigerator...

I have nothing bad to say about this amazing Hostel! The bar is super fun and and the food was very good. All the staff I met was very welcoming, from the start when I was checking in until I was checking out, nothing but exellent costumer service! A big shout out to the Hoisekeepers because my room was spotfree when I checked in! It is also a very convenient placemen...

This would have to be the best hostel in Perth, esp. for long-term travelers who are looking for a quiet place to get well-deserved rest in between travels. I stayed in a single room, which was the cheapest I could find in the entire state. The internet is excellent here, which is a huge plus and actually quite a rare find in Australia. The manager is extremely friendl...

As a first time solo traveller, I can say that this hostel has the perfect location. It is just a stone's throw away from the Central Station, Hay Market City and Paddy's Market. The staff were super friendly and helpful when I asked them for directions. Also, one of the cool things about this hostel is that they give free city tour every Monday. They actually have co...

Accommodation in Cairns was extremely scarce due to the eclipse and the YHA was full, but Agoda double booked us! Even though it was not the YHA's problem, the staff went out of their way to ensure that we had a place to stay for the duration of our booking. One staff member stayed after her shift to continue calling around to other hostels and in the end they empti...

It is a good place in Sydney: cheap and good location. The kitchen in the evening is very dirty because the guys in the hostel they don't have any education about it. There is right that will be a fine of 50$ if you don't clean but at that time in the hostel there is any worker so no control. But all the rest is good and very nice atmosphere and the staff was very nice...

This was the best hostel in Australia. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were always available for use. The common area always had people hanging around so it was easy to make friends. Even though it was a social place, the rooms were quiet at night. The staff was very friendly and can book tours for you if you wish. I would definitely r...

My boyfriend and I stayed here just one night and were really pleased with the hostel. The reception was 24hour and the guy we dealt with was really friendly and chatty. Our room was like a hotel room but nicer than most hotels we've stayed in! It was a really cold night and there was just one sheet and a light throw on the bed so I was glad I'd brought my own fleece...

Great place, I had to extend my stay for two more nights and the staff made it go smoothly, they were great and friendly saying hello and good morning every day. They offer great discounts on tours and book them for you. It was a quite hostel which is prefect as I’m long past my party days. The hostel is so good, no matter the public facilities or the location. However, there are some things that are annoying: one thing is that I wait until 3:30pm to check in because staff told me the room isn't ready.( The check-in time should be 2 pm) . Another, the e-way of check-in and the e-key doesn't work well that the system can't find my details or I need to ask ...
Cheapest hotels in Australia

Spinners is definitely one of the best hostels in Perth. The downstairs area is well designed and thought out. The well equipped open kitchen blends into a modern, comfortable dining and lounge area, with big screen netflix, pool table and outdoor barbecue area. There is also a laundry, bathroom and storage area as well. Hostel staff mix with the guests to create a ...

I really enjoyed my stay here, relaxing in the hammock beside the pool and enjoying cheap happy hour beers. It's a close walk to everything in town, the markets, and the airport, it is a bit further to cable beach but the town bus is easy to use and there is a stop right around the corner

so this place is formally know as njoy but now mad monkey village and is partly finished thru a massive renovation . Dont let reviews of people saying it noisy in day and lools like a buildibg site !! it not that bad ..but your most likey to be pit in newly renovated part hostel which is Literally brand new with memeory foam pillow and matress SUPER COMFY PLUS AC ...

Summer House Staff is lovely!! Big shout out to Georgia and Jana. Very warm welcome in Summerhouse. +Amazing social hostel, good location, free brekkie, clean rooms, activities. - The showers could be better - at some point boiling hot or freezing cold but rarely something in between. There is one or 2 showers where you can actually regulate the temperature :-) But a...

This place has a homely feel to it. Beds are comfy, everything's clean, free shuttle bus' into/out of town and friendly staff. Originally booked two nights here and ended up staying a week. Social hostel with quite a few chill out areas. Would highly recommend this hostel to anyone & if you do stay you should have the bbq on Monday where you get to try kangaroo, emu an...

The hostel is righthandside on the way coming out on the main street from Greyhound bus station. All of them are at the same point, on the other side of the road supermarket, cinema, restaurants, walking distance. Free breakfast, free dinners sometimes, activities organised. Ac in the room, which I do not like, but some people do. A small roofterrace with a view on ...

The owner of the hostel is incredibly friendly. He knows the names of every single one of his guests and always is polite and helpful. The hostel itself is definitely sufficiently equipped. Plenty of toilets, a quite big kitchen and everything is very clean. One thing that could be better are the power plugs. There aren't too many to charge your devices.

The Hostel is good located and it just takes 5 minutes to walk to it from the Katoomba Station. It was possible to check-in 1 hour before the advertised earliest check in. We booked a bunk room for 2 and this is definitely big enough for 2 people and a lot of luggage. A television was mounted at the wall and the beds were ready to sleep as we arrived. So you don...

This is a great hostel, one of the best I've seen in Australia. Really comfortable (real beds!), super clean, friendly and breakfast (with good coffee!) which enables you to meet more easily the people. A really good hostel, especially for travelers who travel alone.

Hostel located right opposite of Esplanade Lagoon. Next to Mcdonalds and 3min walk to Woolworths. Receptionist Laura is so helpful and friendly. I'm in love with the 4th floor open concept kitchens and living area I spend at least 4 to 5 hours sitting there to watch sunrise or sunset. The only hostel in Australia I had ever stayed with seaview. Kitchen is huge and clea...

I loved my stay at this hostel. It was really cheap and clean which worked well with my limited budget! There were quite a few kitchens and bathrooms to choose from on the different levels and finally I found a place with fast, free wifi. I extended a week, got a free night and the reception staff were excellent with booking my tours and giving me a discount. A really ...

Probably the best hostel I’ve stayed at during my travel around Australia. Everything is perfect, the facilities, the people, the location, the rules, the staff etc. Honestly, you won’t be disappointed if you stay at the reef :) I’ve been there for couple of weeks already and don’t wanna move to a share house !

So easy! Clean rooms, not sure if they did without the night club bc I never hear anything and I stayed on Friday and Saturday night.... Nice staff, clean room... I've been in the hostel and private rooms... Hostels in general are not for me... But it was what is expected from a hostel... The private rooms are surprisingly nice, very clean and tidy.... Summer house ha...

The hostel only offers paid wifi service and does not offer any free breakfast but its room rates are lower than those offering them and is close to the city centre and train station. It is only guests who are inconsiderate who pay hostel rates but expect services like hotels, e.g. not washing dishes/cups and making the room a mess.

I've been to many hostels and this hostel is not too bad! I stayed in a single room with my GF and everything was clean and comfortable! I used the common toilet and it wasn't too clean but I have a toilet inside my room so all is fine! Location was only satisfactory, but hey its cheap! Staff were friendly and helpful! As usual, people in the hostel were noisy at n...

The hostel is located in Northbridge. Northbridge is the area that has all the nightlife in Perth, bars, cafes, restaurants, so the location is perfect in that sense. The bathrooms that i used during my staff were all clean and were individual so they were private. Free breakfast in the morning between 8am-10am which had cereal, toast and milk. Highly recommend you cho...

I have traveled around Australia and Tequila Sunrise is the most hospitable and friendly backpackers Hostel. You get free breakfast and evening meals on some nights. The meals are well organized to bring travelers together, creating a friendly, safe atmosphere and environment

The Calypso has been by far the best hostel we have stayed in in Australia. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful (especially both Vee and Amy - you two rock!!). The atmosphere was great and the shuttle to and from the city was a nice added touch. Wake up calls were on time. Alcohol prices were very reasonable compared to local bars/pubs.

I recently went to Perth over Christmas break and needed to find a safe and private room in a central location. Several locals recommended the Akara for its incredible location, staff, and facilities. I was truly blown away by the caliber of comfort and cleanliness provided given the price. The location was walking distance from public transport, great food, shopping...

This hostel is alot more then wath you pay for. It is very clean, cheap, have a great atmosphere. Facilities are good and it is uncomplicated to use the kitchen. It have even free coffee. You can make your laundry for only 4 AU$. In my month staying they took me and other guests to the beach for free. The staff cares alot and doing a great job. Highly recommended.

I had a work trip in Canberra and found it difficult to book accomodation close to the office. This was my first time staying in a hostel but I’d definitely stay again. The private room with ensuite was larger than expected, extremely tidy and clean and the bed and linen was very comfortable. No iron in the room but there are communal facilities downstairs to do iron t...

Stayed mon 9/4/18-fri 13/4/18. This hostel is great as it feels like being in a secluded rainforest. I was staying in a 8 bed cabin with ensuite shower and toilet. The cabin also had a small fridge and freezer. It was cabin number 78 across from the kitchen and laundry. The staff were very welcoming at check in. They have free valuables storage available at reception ...

We stayed in Deluxe Twin Room at Geckos for 6 days. The room was clean and tidy. The toilet and shower room also not bad. All kitchen stuffs that we need were all set. Most important thing was we could book all tours for Kuranda & Great barrier reef without any problem and it was quite awesome, thanks to the staff who helped us with kind explanation. :-)

I have never been a backpacker, I live in Australia but decided to book this hostel because I needed somewhere to store my luggage, the room was clean, air con was great, staff was friendly, bathroom was super clean, kitchen and pool/games/movie room was great, very central to everything, no complaints. Value for money and a good experience, quick check in, friendly tr...

The staff were wonderful! They were funny & helpful. The hostel had more items than other hostels I've been to. It was very clean. The only thing that annoyed me was how the lights in the shower kept turning off due to it being motion sensored. Showering in the dark at night isn't great. Otherwise, everything else was TERRIFIC about this place! Definitely would recom...

Definitely recommend staying here, the hostel is very clean and the beds are comfy and AC works well. The best part about the hostel is the staff and friendly atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly and sometimes all make dinner together and have drinks outside. No bar in the place which means you can save money buying drinks at the supermarket. Also lots of fridges for...

Location is good with the f&b/shops just a street away; our morning was greeted by birds chirping, feels very close to nature. The communal areas (kitchen, lounges) are set up very comfortably and highly utilized. The shared toilet is clean and served all needs. The bedsheets colour (shades of brown and blue) kinda made the room looked gloomy when we first stepped in.....

This is a great hostel and located very close to the main beach. The town is very small and it is in a perfect spot for walking to all of the shops and restaurants. The room was very clean and decently priced. We stayed in a private-share room, which had a double bed and a single bed in it. The bathrooms and showers are shared amongst all of the guests and they were ve...

First experience travel in Australia and feel lucky to met in sundancer backpacker resort, nice and friendly receptionist that winning to help us, chill with us and make friends with us, and the facility occupied and comfortable, we can easy to suit inside the resort since we are easy to getting known each other new friend there. Feel relax, listen to favorite song, be...

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel was easy to find and had separate access from the pub/restaurant/ sports bar downstairs. The hotel was clean and the room was big enough. It was great value for money. The only downside was that the amenities were a bit dated but the staff definitely made up for any downfalls. The best staff I've ever encountered; warm, cheerful and fr...

The Port Campbell hostel is a fantastic place to stay as a scrimping solo traveller or group. Spacious dorms, lots of room in the kitchen, nice common area. The bar/brewery in the hostel adds character. Biggest downside is that there is no reliable WiFi upstairs in the rooms. This is only a minor detractor, IMO. Otherwise the hostel is a very short walk to the main s...

I stayed in this hostel with my mother in a twin bedroom. This hostel has a great atmosphere and amazing staff, who can help you to book activities. We were transported in to the city and to the airport for free, but you could also walk for ~30 minutes. The kitchen is good equipped and there is a nice eating area outside and on the balcony. The bathrooms are clean. The ...

Amazing hostel pretty much all set and organise. Good enough infrastructure and the staff is one of the best I have seen on my Australia experience. Definitely recommend for any kind of traveller. I’m coming back on September for sure for a few more days of surf and sun!

The pros was Andrew- he was kind and gave us great recommendations. We had a private ensuite room, which was basic but fine for the price. However, the hostel is mainly for farm workers, hence the atmosphere was not great. Our sheets in our room were dirty (one pillow was covered with mold) and the kitchen was plain disgusting. There was no dishwashing soap (only a spr...

This hostel is great for a weekend away or to chill out at. It’s very basic but I didn’t feel like there was anything I needed that wasn’t available. Really nice staff including the young blonde girl on reception who was nice and friendly. And very clean :) would recommend!

I have booked a night, informing Agoda that will have a late check-in. When I got there from the station I was wer from the heavy rain and the place was closed. There was a note that the reception is closed after 6pm and a number to call, but after a few attempts no one was picking up the phone. So I called Agoda, which was also not picking up the phone. After a few at...

This is a very good hostel. The staff is friendly and the vibe at the hostel is great. (Not a party hostel) I liked the rooftop, great place to hang out and meet new people. Also the best tour + surfing lessons. The only bad thing is that wifi only works on ground floor.

Highly recommend if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and to explore Phillip Island. Though they were other competitive high end accommodation nearby, this place gave you the feeling of home away from home. If you don't like the typical hotel setting this place is a must and at a reasonable price. Perhaps visit during the warmer seasons as pool was ...

This hostel is great! Clean, comftorable beds, big rooms, good kitchen, free wifi (even if its just on one spot, doesnt matter tho, they have a really cosy room where you can sit and use it). Fresh bathroom, good kitchen (I usually think it can be a bit annoying to make food at hostels when im just there for a few days but not here) pool, organize trips and so on. Hone...

Had a great stay here! Staff are very friendly and helpful; the rooms were clean and spacious; nice outdoor area; and even a ping pong table :) I love the charm of the old building and the lounge/dining areas are well done. Port Elliot is not really a busy or happening place, but the hostel is in the perfect location to walk into the centre of town or down to the beach...

Being a hostel (budget accommodation), the expectations weren't very high and I understand you get what you pay for. And it seems like the place was going through some kind of renovation or transformation during our stay. So, the staff were very nice and helpful, always with a smile. But the rooms and bathrooms were pretty dirty unfortunately (our trash bin had trash i...
