1001 Malam hotel is excellent”
Very nice hotel, though entering lane ( kampoeng), unavailable car parking for me isnt problem, usualy the traveler come to Jogjakarta by flight and they can arrange their transportation by hotel rent car or searching internet to rent a car. I like the hotel/ accomodation without car park, make our eyes fresh and rejuvenate our soul, The bf very tasteful and great, polite and friendly staff, if You visit Yogyakarta, must to do is stay at this hotel, lunch or dinner at Raminten Kotabaru (House of Raminten) please would you mind searching by internet! , visit Sultan Palace as called Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat, and must visit the Borobudur and Prambanan Temple, 1001 Malam hotel walk distance to Malioboro str and we can shoping any handycraft, eating in the street as called angkringan, and rides horse cab as called delman, very nice hotel I have stayed in Yogya, with reasonable price and very good service. I will come back to 1001 Malam Hotel at the next visit to Yogyakarta

A Hidden Treasure in Bustling Jogja”
I'm glad I opted for Hotel 1001 Malam during my stay in Jogja for 3N/4D as it met (even exceeded) my expectations. I was highly satisfied with the strategic location, comfortable & spacious room, and helpful staff. It's what you'd actually consider a value-for-money accommodation. I availed of the hotel's airport pick-up service and was promptly responded to (Thanks Hartini). One of the hotel's drivers, Tom, was also very pleasant and helpful. All of the staff willingly provided support and answered questions as best as they can. You can also get around Malioboro Street easily from the hotel (by foot or becak). I suggest walking though so that you can have a feel of the city. If you'd like to try the becak, ask for the average rate (given your destination) at the front desk as some becak operators have difficulty conversing in English and may overcharge you. If you'd like to just sit back and relax, you may do so outside your room and there are even restaurants nearby with great ambiance. I tried the one in front of the hotel and they serve great local dishes and coffee (with nice interiors/artworks too). I think the only trouble I had with the hotel is its Wi-Fi connection, which is excruciatingly slow if you're staying at the 2nd level. You'd have to go down to gain faster internet access. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and highly recommend it to fellow travelers. If you're looking for a unique accommodation factoring in value-for-money, this is the place for you. :)

Sweet little garden oasis in Jogs”
Hotel 1001 Malam is tucked down a narrow alleyway near Malioboro Rd in Jogs and despite its proximity to everything, it was surprisingly quiet at night. The rooms are decorated well and the beds are comfortable for Indonesian standards (if you're used to soft Western beds). The unique hand-painted art on the walls and room decor are a treat. The garden is lovely and the water fall adds a soothing touch. Don't be surprised that the rooms all face in on each other. It is very quiet nonetheless. Planes do fly quite low overhead as this is on the flight path. It is within walking distance to Malioboro (only five minutes walk). Hotel 1001 Malam is one of the best modest budget stays in the area.

Good location; friendly/helpful staff”
The Hotel 1001 Malam is located about 5 minutes walk from both the train station and Jl. Malioboro (the location of Yogyakarta's main tourist attractions). There are plenty of good restaurants and tour companies nearby (can also get tours from the hotel). It is up a small alley, however, so not that easy to find. Probably best to ask around. Generally, the hotel is quite peaceful, but it is near a mosque and directly under the flight path for the airport. However, at night there are no planes, so it is not a big problem. The hotel's staff are very helpful. I was a single traveler and could not use their tour service, but they recommended another tour service which worked out very well. While in the hotel, I broke my laptop screen trying to fit the laptop into a too-small safe. The manager drove me to an electronics mall to try to get it fixed. Unfortunately, it was not possibly to fix in Yogyakarta (at least for a reasonable price), but I appreciated his help.

Great hotel and so relaxing”
what a great hotel this is. tucked away off sosorw street down a gang passing lovely restaurants you will find 1001 malam. the room was large and clean. bed comfy and a/c working great. bathroom large and clean also. they offer breakfast which is basic but good and delivered to a spot in the hotel of your choosing. nescafe coffee or tea can be had 24 hours if desired. as i said the rooms are large and clean with in-room safe. the room is basic (no bedside tables which i thought odd) and there is no tv which could be a good thing or bad depending on your pov. being a solo traveler i thought a tv would be nice to have as kind of "company" in the room even for background noise so it was a bit boring otherwise. but if it's absolute quiet you desire then by all means. i would recommend this hotel for either solo or families or couples. friendly staff and compy rooms with very reasonable rates. the restaurant across the sidewalk is delightful also. they have free wifi but will charge for internet use. the hotel is two levels; "u" shape with lovely courtyard filled with tropical plants and trees to give the added feel of privacy. two thumbs up!!!

Amazing Service at quaint Thousand and One Nights”
I had a very good stay with Hotel 1001 Malam (Thousand and One Nights Hotel when translated from Bahasa). I touched down Jogja at 6.50am and thought I might have a problem checking-in so early, like most of other hotels. But not at all. The moment I mentioned my name, they were already expecting me and promptly directed me to the room. The hotel is really cozy and as a single, female traveler, I felt very safe. It is extremely close to many food places and is very central, though you have to enter through a narrow street (Gang 2) to get to the Hotel. When they found out that I had an early flight out, I was offered a very reasonably priced Airport transfer on their large sedan (Rupiah 70,000). What a SERVICE!

Lovely oasis in an alley full of character”
Agoda failed to send notification of my reservation so Hotel 1001 Malam had no knowledge of my arrival and hence no available room. Luckily they were very understanding (I showed them my reservation confirmation on my iPhone) and the head lady put me up for one night in the neighboring hotel (which was also nice). Stayed in Hotel 1001 Malam for 3 nights. It's conveniently located in a downtown alley that has lots of restaurants. One end of this alley is Jalan Sosrowijayan which has most of everything a tourist needs: tour agents, restos, hotels, street vendors, etc. The staff are all friendly and speak English. Internet works well.

A surprisingly nice and artsy hotel in an alley”
We had a convenient and relaxing stay at Hotel 1001 Malam. Although the hotel is located in an alley, the hotel affords easy access to shopping malls, money changers and all the other city amenities. Our room has a nice garden outside and one can take complimentary coffee while relaxing in a very quiet surrounding. The staff is always attentive to our needs and Yosha the female driver that was assigned to the tour was very funny and informative as well.

Great Little Treasure”
3 of us stayed there for a weekend and we would definitely stay there again. It's extremely underrated for the price. 1001 Malam has a bohemian feel with a nice unexpected nature style decor, it's hidden down a narrow lane way in a busy tourist district. The staff are exceptionally helpful, the breakfast was pretty good. Free wifi though typically slow as in all Indonesian hotels. All in all, for the price and location its a pretty good buy, check it out.

Like no other ”
Had an awesome stay. Surroundings are indeed calm and relaxing. Amenities about 5 to 10 minute walk to the famous Malioboro street which is simply a haven of Batik. The carriage horse ride is magnificent where you get to pass by and see the hustle and bustle of the city life. Hotel 1001 malam is the place where YOU will want to stay in. A small from the outside but hearty on the inside. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Such a wonderful stay”
Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent, in the alley opposite Yogyakarta train station, just 100m from the station to the hotel and 300m walk to Malioboro shopping area. There are many hotels and motels here, but I think this is the best hotel in this alley area. The hotel has lots of green trees so it's cool though it's extremely hot outside. Room are airy, bathroom is large very clean, hot water and hand basins outside are convenient. Breakfast is delicious and it's delivered to your room. There is a hot water tank for you to make tea and coffee at all times at the lobby. The hotel staff is extremely enthusiastic. They prepared take-away breakfast for us because we went to Borobodur very early. Laundry service of the hotel is very cheap, only from 10k IDR / kg, may be cheaper than laundry shops outside. You can book transportation services at hotel to go to the famous tourist attractions, or next to the hotel there are shop offering this service. Cons: Wifi signal is weak.
