VERY cozy with friendly staff”
We enjoyed our stay and the helpfulness of the staff - with special thanks to Meng who warmly welcomed us at breakfasts and shared wonderful insights for our sightseeing. My husband was in Singapore for the week prior for business, and he stayed at a high-end boutique hotel. I booked this hotel for us for my arrival (the week after), based on the reviews and website photos - we wanted to stay somewhere local with history. We were slightly taken aback when we opened the door as the photos are clearly taken with a very good fish eye lens, and the rather cozy size was not something we were prepared for - but, the location, staff, and coffee-on-hand plus breakfast (which came as part of our room cost) more than made up for the size. The toilet-shower adjacency means that you cannot use the loo after taking a shower, but that's not a deal-breaker. The cleanliness was overall good, but the bathroom tiles could use a scrub (a by-product of the layout/design...).
long weekend for singapore F1”
I booked rooftop room with terrace. Always small rooms in Singapore but this was pretty big. Nicely decorated and clean. Great having a bit of outdoor space on the roof terrace - table and chairs plus clawfoot bath if you wanted to soak/cool down after a hard days sightseeing. Air con worked a treat - always a bonus in Singapores heat. Great location, super close to Outram Park MRT and a little bit further from Chinatown MRT. Nice street of hotels and bars/restaurants. Not too noisy. Close to Chinatown for sightseeing/food. Really enjoyed my stay. If you want standard big chain hotel facilities then probs not for you but if you like a bit funky/different, then its the go. Breakfast pretty average - only downside but I wasn't too fussed about that. Overall, I would recommend
Awesome Relaxing Niche ”
Pros 1) Very clean and neat 2) Very cosy mattress and pillows 3) Very good and adequate toiletries 4) Very near to eateries 5) Very near to place of interest 6) Very near to heritage place like Singapore Chinatown 7) Very fast and strong WiFi connection 8) Very fast check-in and check-out 9) Very humble, caring and helpful hotel staffs 10) Very secure and save as the hotel lift usage is only for hotel guests access Cons 1) Noise insulation is suggested to be improved as noise, from corridors, can be heard
Hotel 1929 is a nice hotel close to the Chinatown precinct. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Our room had a large outdoor patio area with a table and chairs. There was also an outdoor bath and shower if you like to have a soak. The only downside was the noise from the rooftop bar and club across the road. There is a bar and restaurant on the ground floor where we had a great cooked breakfast which was included in the room price. We would recommend the food here. The hotel is close to a lot of Chinese restaurants and places of interest. The closest MRT station is Outtram. It is about a 45 minute trip from Changi Airport
The room is actually extremely really very small. Dont even have space to unlock baggages. If you are a couple who wants to have romantic times, I suggest you stay in this hotel because of the very small room. Otherwise, dont. The breakfast is indeed wonderfully delicious! The chef is also very kind. The room is quite clean and the toilet is clean, but the toilet door cant be closed well (someone could see you taking a bath from outside). Thats why I suggest if you are a couple, you should try this hotel. The location is located in Chinatown, close enough to Outram MRT and Maxwell Food Centre. There is also a 7Eleven nearby. The only minuses are about the room size and the toilet door.
Nice place to stay in SG”
We didn't stay at Hotel 1929 but were transferred to their sister hotel, Hotel 1887, which is located in the center of Chinatown. The place was clean and comfortable, served nice breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would consider staying at this hotel if visiting Singapore again .
Cozy, Clean, Superb breakfast, and most importantly walking distance to outram park station”
We stayed at Hotel 1929 for 3 nights. We had room 203 and room 302. The rooms are very clean, with hairdryer, safe, coffee, television, hanger, and toiletries. The receptionists were very friendly and always answers questions very informatively about directions in getting around singapore. They also booked us a cab to get to Changi terminal 4 when we were going home. Near gourmet breakfast is the feature of this hotel. We had eggs benedict, blueberry pancakes, nasi lemak, etc. They are really delicious and in big servings. The hotel also has a lift, so it is advantageous for families with elderly and PWD. All in all, me and my family enjoyed our whole stay in this hotel. Budget-friendly and cozy.
Pleasant Stay ”
I relocated to Hotel 1929 after my business trip ended and I had a couple of days to myself in Singapore. It's situated sort of between Chinatown MRT and Outram Park MRT station, both aren't too far and more than walkable. Vibrant area with some interesting history, plenty of food options. Room was clean, I booked a Queen room with balcony and was offered a King Deluxe instead...although I did want that balcony, the king bed was big and comfortable.
Small room, small toilet, but has everything needed. Very cosy. Extremely good location, plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs to choose from, all in close proximity. If feeling a bit more adventurous, able to walk to chinatown for sight sering as well. Hotel owned pub, 18:Hours, features good deals. Staff there are very very friendly and welcoming, and makes the stay 10 times more enjoyable. 10/10 would come back again.
Great location, very clean, comfy bed, fantastic staff”
We enjoyed our stay here. The location is convenient, near Chinatown and the Outram MRT station. The room was spotlessly clean and everything worked well, it seems it was renovated recently. The bed was very comfortable, I don't like the hard beds common in Asia. The staff was friendly and very helpful. One of my favorite things was the awesome coffee machine in the lobby. You can set it to make coffee in any style you like. We got the delux queen room so it had a window but was very small. I don't like the way the bed is on a platform so you keep stepping up and down to get from the door to the bathroom. There is a place to put your suitcases but its very small and again you have to step down into it. They should have made it all one level in my opinion. If space is important, then get the delux king room, its' much better layed out. There is a bar down the street that is a bit noisy until about midnight.
Perfect location & clean, modern ambience in Chinatown.”
Hotel 1929 is clean & offers good breakfast & wifi. It has an old facade, as were most other bldgs along Keong Saik Rd. Our balcony room provided pretty views which included a temple to the right & more heritage structures to the left. Chinatown Complex (for outstanding food choices & shopping) is right behind & the Buddha Tooth Temple a stone's throw away. It is very accessible by train (one can ride in w/ luggages right from the airport) & bus stops are just around the corner.
Excellent location in the midst of Chinatown, near hawker stalls, food courts and high end restaurants, a nice mix of food options in a broad range of prices. Easy to get around, near MRT station. Rooms had double-glazing so street noise is audible but minimized. Rooms are a tad small but expected. Bed was comfortable. Overall, good value for money given location.
Excellent location great neighborhood”
Its location is ideal. Near mrt, near chinatown & near Maxwell hawker centre. The hotel is located in a very hip neighborhood with an old world charm. Bars are just along the street of the hotel. Breakfast buffet is good. The staff are friendly, courteous & helpful. The the rooms are clean. The room is small but that is expected. There's no bidet, bedroom slippers & refrigerator. It was our first time in Singapore & when we go back we'll stay here again. We like it 😊
Great hotel rooms small but well thought out cute and syper clean just not use to paying that much.”
Singapore a must see the jewel of asia the staff beyond helpful the local people as well. The break feast top shelf.the neighbor hood lots of character the mrt easy to use and if you have a lost look on your face someone will stop and help you. The evenings in singapore lovely temp to just walk around lots of great pubs and eat. Was there 5 days found something to do every day. Hotel 1929 good to wake up in good to come home too.
nice to be there”
we would like to stay in Chinatown.. and it was perfect. we booked a room with a patio : many plants, a swing, a table and chairs, small lights in the evening - beautiful. the room itself was tiny but very good furnished.. OK, you have to climb over the bed to get to the bathroom... but this was also fine for us. breakfast is still located in the hotel 1886.. and stuff failed to tell us, that 1886 "close the entry" 30 min before end of breakfast time, but after a short discussion about we were lucky to get a toast and a coffee (better to have a breakfast outside!).
Good location and value”
We chose this hotel because of the location and we were correct. It was a 4 minutes walk (or less) to Chinatown complex and 15 minutes to Maxwell food center. As this was a 3day 2night stopover before our cruise, I found it was perfect for what we were looking for. One note: the room is very small. Finally, the breakfast included was great. It was not regular hotel breakfast and I had the Indonesian style one, a little spicy but great. I will stay there again.
Hotel is situated not too far from Chinatown and surrounded by some great places to eat. Rooms were clean maybe a little smaller than what we were used to, but great value for money and was still a comfortable stay.
Great boutique hotel”
Great boutique hotel with great staff member in the heart of Chinatown. The room is a little on the small side, but we are ok with it. We didn't feel cramped. We had 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 7 & 4). Cons: no refrigerator
Clean Hotel with Small rooms and friendly staff...”
Hotel 1929 is a small and clean hotel in Chinatown. Booked the room seeing the availability of restaurant from their official website. But unfortunately they did not have one in their hotel when i reached. Hotel staff was kind enough to give an early checkin. Room was small and had a wash basin near the bed. Room was clean with enough lighting. There was no window, phone or table in the room and there were hardly 3 - 5 local channels in TV. Singapore being an expensive city i am not sure if 165 singapore dollar per day is ok for this type of room. I liked the hotel reception staff. They were really friendly and helpful.
Room was tidy, and reasonably priced, Location was fairly good, a short walk to the station and a short walk to Chinatown. Only bad points were :- 1. The room was small with nowhere to put your stuff (only suitable for one or two nights). 2. Combined shower/wetroom so sink and WC got soaked from the shower.
