Walking distance to Masjid Abdulrahman. Planning to go to Aceh again, but most probably would not be staying in this hotel. Guess, I am looking for a bit higher grade hotel.

Friendly helpful staff, comfortable stay”
We travel from Medan, North Sumatra. Transit to Banda Aceh for Sabang, Weh Island. Excellent stay though only for a night. Located in the middle of business center. Crowded at night. Easy to find food, coffee, aceh noodles, chinese noodles, fastfood A&W Restaurant in hotel (make guest easy to grab food). Room is big enough, and bed is as well. Aircond and tv equipped, breakfast buffet provided (aceh and western style). Very helpful staffs, even they can help to call for private taxi to Ule Lheu (Banda Aceh Port) to cross to Sabang, Pulau Weh.

A good hotel for stay in Aceh. The hotel location makes it easy to find place to eat and other needs. It's also easy to find transport to go around other attraction nearby Banda Aceh. Hotel cleanliness is also at a very good standard. For me, the price is quite reasonable with the room and services given.

perfectly located in the center area”
We did enjoy the stay mostly because it centrally located in Banda Aceh. This might be not a fully service hotel as you expected, just basic amenities and standard equipments. The staffs were trying hard to help, they show attention to guests needs. This hotel certainly needs some improvement to be better place to stay for tourist/visitor. For Banda Aceh first timer, you may need city map available in lobby or reception desk. Ask for car rental, but do check and compare the fares with other vendor outside. But above all, we really like its closeness to some places of interest. We went at 5.30 for early morning prayer in Baiturrahman Mosque, having lunch at the famous Mie Razali just across the hotel, enjoying the night at Rex Peunayong area, while shopping some souvenirs there.

Bring Earplugs”
Good location, friendly staff, clean, good wifi. No window in my room but that was no major issue. So-so breakfast. Unfortunately, however, the downstairs rooms are literally right next to an amusement arcade which forms part of the same complex, so all afternoon and evening till midnight you have the noise and vibration of car racing machines and shoot 'em ups going on, so loud that it literally drowns out the telly. You'll know when it's about to stop because between 11pm and 11.45pm there are regular tannoy announcements telling you so, so plan your sleeping accordingly or, better still, make sure you get an upstairs room or go somewhere else. Overpriced for what it is but that might just be Banda Aceh hotel accommodation in general given the number of NGO staff etc still in town.

Central city location with good airconditioning”
We only had a night stay on our way to Pulau Weh and Sabang. Hotel 61 was choosen for its central location, close to places of historical interest in Banda Aceh and this worked out well. I was surprised to find that the 'Standard' rooms had no windows. I felt it a bit claustrophobic because of this, but in fact it meant that the air conditioning was very effective and cooled down the room well come night time and I ended up sleeping very well. Breakfast was in the adjoining room and adequate. Next time I might book the next higher grade of room.

Cosy Hotel But No Elevator”
Being a first time traveller to Banda Aceh, we found the hotel cosy and conveniently near town and all the attractions. WiFi was good, staff was friendly and helpful. But the biggest drawback was the hotel did not have any elevators which was very inconvenient when you are the high floors and the breakfast spread was paltry.

Great Location but Noisy”
let me start with the plus side of this hotel. this hotel location is excelent. it's in the middle of the town and just a few minutes walk to the masjid baiturahman. you can easily find place to eat, the a&w in on the ground floor, kfc and pizzu hut are just around the corner. there are also several local restaurant on the street and during the night you can find kebab stall nearby. other than the location, another plus for this hotel is the free wifi. we stayed in 2 different rooms in different nights and both having good wifi signal. the only bad (it's nightmare for us) thing about the hotel is the noise. at the first night of our stay, our room are at the back. few hours after check-in (around 2pm) i started hearing loud music in the room. i called the lobby and they said the music came from the 'fun land' just below our room (they knew about this and did nothing). i requested a room change but all rooms were fully booked. the next day we moved to another room, this time is in front. it's quiter but we still hear the noise from the road. it's not perfect but it was better than the previous room.

I had read reviews from Agoda and wanted to try this hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful but limited in capability. The room I was staying in 218 had a blower fan outside and was extremely noisy when A&W was in operations. The blower fan was shut off at 10:45pm which was ok if you are not staying in the room in the day time. Had requested a move to another room the following day and was given room 311 which was fine except it was quite noisy facing the road with Saturday traffic going by at night. Breakfast was really basic with the first morning having virtually no food left and no additional food was given. So second morning we went early. My friends had booked with Medan Hotel with better breakfast but their room was not as nice however they paid only INR 225,000 which was much cheaper then our room. Overall we were happy with the room and the friendly staff. Could be better with the food.

Surely there are better hotels than this”
Ours was a small room at the back of the hotel, completely without atmosphere and throbbing exhaust fan noises and oily smells from the fast food restaurant in the foyer. I'm not sure if there are any good hotels in Banda Aceh - a homestay may be better. Do not expect help from the staff language wise - my Indonesian and research were poor so with better research I may have found more pleasant things to do. Had a great reflexi and face massage a couple of doors down from Hotel 61 - they were the best I had in Indonesia. So passable, the beds and bathroom worked.

There were limited choice of hotels in Banda Aceh within our budget. We stayed in standard room located in Ground Floor. I have to walk passed A&W to go to the room. Basic room, very small. Limited choice of breakfast. Good to stay for one night
