The Hotel 68 - Dong Hoi”
Our room was the best that we have experienced in Vietnam! A lovely deep balcony that we could use to read or enjoy a coffee. As with Da Nang we explored the river where fishermen still use wide nets and bamboo coracles or narrow timber work boats to cross the river. Reception arranged a bus visit to Paradise Cave in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park some 60km Northwest of Dong Hoi. The cave is awesome and well documented on Trip Adviser etc. The Hotel also booked our train journey to Hanoi including collecting the tickets for us as part of their service. We would recommend this fantastic hotel when staying in Dong Hoi. Because of its relative proximity to the Paradise Cave and National Park - Dong Hoi will have many tourists from now on. Jane Gray UK

Classy, new, bright and sparkling!”
Sparkly new, classy hotel with greatness, comfy linens, brightly lit. Long balcony on 4th floor superior double had unblocked view across school grounds and track. Side desk/dressing table was handy. Bar stern breakfast offered only eggs, sunny side up and pre-salted. Coffee was lukewarm the second morning. Dining room on top floor was absolutely lovely with 360-degree views. Staff were courteous although could not explain why it was impossible to get fresh towels the second morning. We paid for a day and a half having arrived before dawn the first day. Close to the caves, Dong Hoi town gives a clean, wealthy appearance. However, the lack of restaurants and a real tourist center made finding eateries really tough.

It was nice”
Our stay were nice. The staff were helpful and thoughtful even they can't barely communicate in English. This hotel is a walking distance from a nice restaurant named QB and a convenient store. The room was big enough and clean. Just be informed that in Dong Hoi people love karaoke and they don't use room silencer so you can hear them singing out loud even you're on the 4th floor. When we were there, the karaoke stopped at 11 pm. Good value of money. I recommend this hotel

On the way to paradise cave”
This is a great stopover on the way to phong Na or paradise caves. The hotel arraigned a driver the night before and arranged for early pickup so we would miss the tour groups. It was 1 mil dong ($47 usd). The hotel staff even made us breakfast at 6am so we could eat before the 1.5 hour drive. The pho and coffee were excellent. Staff very friendly.

Newly built hotel”
Newly built hotel and the staff try there best but language skills are less than basic. On arrival we asked for a map, they don't have any. They did go and buy us one for 50k dong. Cold while we were there and no warm air heating in any part of hotel. Staff walking around in coats. Booked VIP room but there was no safe. Breakfast included but only 2 choices. Eggs or soup. The staff are nice and they tried their best but there is a lot of room for improvement. We booked our trip to the caves from the hotel but there were no brochures on the trip.

Beautiful hotel with lovely helpful receptionist”
This Hotel is brand new and is nicely designed and exceptionally clean. As more westerners stay here they will get used to the needs of travelers and change a few things. The complimentary breakfast was not good with only two choices available. Only one staff member, the lovely receptionist, (the wife of the young manager), had any English skills, so communication for tours and train bookings was difficult. I hope more people give this hotel a chance as it is early days and with more experience they will get better. With the right training this hotel would easily be 5*. I would stay again and wish them all the best, and hope all goes well with Nyuen's new baby.

Good hotel when in dong Hoi for a cave trip”
Good quality room and hotel, friendly and helpful staff, 15 min walk to Main Street on the river. Breakfast is a choice of meat noodle soups but when we said we were vegetarian they were happy to make us eggs.

Hotel 68”
The hotel staff and rooms were great! However the location would make us not want to stay again. Besides being the only tourists we could see, electricity would go off every day for hours and restore at 7. We believe this is due to construction in the area but it still made our trip uncomfortable when you can't take hot showers or use WiFi to book your next hotel. That bring said, the staff was very sweet and helpful and did whatever they could to make us enjoy our time there. If they had power and more tourists I think we would stay again. Kind if felt like exotic animals and never ever book a sleeper bus through agents who don't speak English. Rudest bus company in all of vietnam (in our opinion) but that's another story.

A good stop-over on the Reunification Express”
A 3 night stop-over from the train. Hotel is quite new and good quality. Room was fine and top floor bar/restaurant very pleasant. Staff have moderate English and very helpful. Hotel is in a quiet commercial side street with a 500metre stroll to the river, beach, floating fish restaurants and market. Don't miss the caves - book a day trip at reception.

Good value for the price”
Too bad that the second night I was moved from a nice, quiet room at the 7th floor with a balcony and city view into a "VIP" gloomy room with noisy vicinity I could hardly sleep in.

Language issue ”
Staff was very friendly and nice but they hardly speak English. We couldn't get any advice for the transportation from Dom Hoi to Ha Long. However, the cave tour we booked from this hotel was very nice and the guide helped us to get the transportation. They only take Vietnam don and it was 1050000 VDN per person.

Comfortable, large room”
Only 2 choices for breakfast and a coffee included, only one member of staff speaks English, booked a double room and got a twin but after the trouble with the language barrier and being on the 7th floor we couldn't be bothered to go back down and ask for a different room, however the room was very large and clean with a large bath tub

Truly terrible!”
Rooms were filthy and half finished! Exposed wires in the walls, no bedside table which meant the phone was on the floor! The bed was so close to the desk, I couldn't actually move the chair enough to sit in it! Ripped towels, stained bed sheets, the list goes on! Fridge only works when you're in the room, which means that when you arrive you will have to wait until the morning for anything already in it to be cold! Was reroomed 3 times, eventually given a room on the sixth floor as I asked for the quietest room available. Was still awoken by noise from the staff at 7.30am! Worst hotel I've ever stayed at!

Below average”
Far from the "center". Staff do not speak english at all so it's not helpful to book trips to Phong Nha or even to hire a scooter. They were ok to call for taxis though. Spiders in the room when arrived (janitor came to clean and it was ok after). Bathroom with a standalone bath and a rain shower, but with no curtains or windows. The floor gets all wet and the drain is on the other side of the bathroom, so it smells humidity. Oriental breakfast only (soups and noodles) so we ate at a different place even if it was included.
