Best Value in KL”
the most honest review you will find: the rooms are small, and sparse, but clean. forget the tv, it's old, and i don't even know if it works. the bathroom is small, the toilet will get wet when you are having a shower. however, the location is unbeatable. you are literally in the middle of chinatown. all public transport options are close by, three different train lines. food options are amazing. tip : ask for a room at the "front" of the hotel - nice big window with a great view. it will get noisy, every night around midnight, as the stalls below pack up. however, the mornings are peaceful (by kl standards). so don't stay here if you like to go to bed early. don't stay here if you want luxury. do stay here if you want a clean, conveniently located hotel, with no frills, at a discount price. i have stayed here three times. i have been into most hotels in the area, there is no better value. also, the staff are great. really helpful, they organised to accept a package for me from fedex, even the park royal couldn't do that simple task for me! the manager also took me to the airport in his new mercedes - thanks ram!

Comfortable, pleasant and very helpful staff..”
We were here for a couple of nights and we had a great stay. Room was clean and surprisingly quiet considering that the hotel is in the middle of Petaling Street. When you go outside, it's the famous street market and around the area would be lots of street food - claypot rice, satays, chinese noodles (hokkien mee, char kway teow, etc), etc. It is walking distance to Puduraya Bus Station and Pasar Seni/Plaza Rakyat/Masjid Jamek Stations. We saved so much on transportation as majority of key attractions can be reached by foot or by train (around 1.50RM per person per one way ride from Pasar Seni station). Staff were very helpful too.Rooms aren't too big, we got a Standard Room with attached bathroom but we had a comfy bed and clean toilet which was more than enough.

Value for money, pleasant, clean room”
Owner of the hotel and all staffs were very nice and helpful. Our room was fairly clean, bathroom a bit small but ok for our basic needs of showering and toilet. Bed was comfortable, sheets were clean and comfy. For the price we paid, we got real good value for our money. Right outside is the famous Petaling street market and street food. Very accessible to Puduraya bus station, Plaza Rakyat and Pasar Seni train stations too. We saved so much on transporation costs since majority of the attractions are within the vicinity.

Great location but small rooms”
The location of the hotel was great, right within the Chinatown street. Room size was sufficient for us as we were only travelling with backpacks. it was very quiet at night. Inspected the bed for stains or bed bugs, only to be surprised to see almost brand new mattress. I can feel that the room was newly renovated in the early half of this year. Not too sure it all the rooms were as this good though. But it was definitely a value for money stay here!

Reasonble without much compromise”
The hotel staff gave us a pleasant welcome the day my friend and I arrived at the hotel. The surrounding is crowded knowing it's located in the middle of the night market but still perfect place to have easy access to any location. As we entered in the room, we just told to each other that the rate is just enough or bit better as what we were expecting to have. The hotel maintenance is not that nice as she was not smiling when we passed by to her cleaning the hotel hallway. I will recommend Hotel Alamanda for those who will ask me especially for those who just like us, thrifty.

Great location but small rooms”
we stay in Hotel Alamanda Petaling Street for 3 nights. We enjoy stay here because around the hotel there are many shop to sell many things and food. When we want went around city by hop on hop off bus, the stop point of the bus is not far from the Hotel.

Great Location and good value”
The hotel was a bit hard to find on the busy Jalan Petaling, but once we found it, it was OK value and a good option for staying in Chinatown. The toilet bowl was missing the seat and the toilet was a bit cramped, as was the room. But that's what you expect at these prices. So if you are the kind of person who complains about water spraying from the shower on the toilet seat, don't go here, go somewhere double the price at least. Otherwise it's a good option.

Budget hotel with great staff!”
I was very pleased with all the staff at the Alamanda. What ever you asked for was taken care of. The Director Mr Singh, was very helpful and made sure all his guests were satisfied. This is very rare with most budget hotels. It was nice to always have access to information regarding restaurants and transportation from the staff. Special thanks to all at the front desk.

Clean, comfortable hotel in bustling Chinatown.”
Considering that we paid only 30 British Pounds for two nights stay at this hotel, our expectations were low. However, our room (though relatively small in size) was as much as we could have hoped for. It was clean, with a small en suite (also clean) bathroom with a hot water shower. The location was in some ways ideal and in others not so much. Chinatown is a fantastic place to visit- in my opinion the most interesting area in KL. However, to get to the hotel involves a rather stressful walk/squeeze through the cramped Pentaling street, which is packed with market vendours who leave merely a slither of space for people to walk by. Once you manage to get your suitcase through this madness though, it becomes less of an issue. The only real issue we had with the location was how noisey it is on an evening- and how paper thin the walls of the hotel are- meaning that a decent nights sleep was near impossible. I would recommend this hotel to budget travellers who want to feel in the thick of things and are either heavy sleepers or don't mind going without sleep!

Lovely staff”
Staff is great. Room is not bad, especially for its price and features. Some things needed tweaking to work, like the water heater that would only stay on with a given water pressure and temperature, otherwise it kept going on and off. I found quite a few long white hairs on my sheets. I have short black hair, so I was a little skeptical about where those came from. The Internet was really fast, which is a strong point as some other hotels in the area advertise free WiFi but it crawls. Otherwise, I quite enjoyed my stay at Hotel Alamanda.

A strategic hotel in Kuala Lumpur!”
When my family and I went to Kuala Lumpur last year, I found this hotel with Agoda.com. When we arrived at this hotel, we're so happy that it's easy to go anywhere n everywhere. There are a lot of food, drinks, etc (cause it's at Chinatown)!

Very cheap, great location”
Considering the low price, I'd have to say that this hotel is very adequate. Excellent location (in the middle of Petaling Street), rooms are clean, basic amenities provided. Really worth the money. Don't expect anything but the bare essentials - this is the type of hotel for sleeping only. Compared to other hotels of similar class in Petaling Street, this hotel is one of the best-looking. Some other hotels look kind of dodgy but not this one. Although it's quite old (the elevator creaks!) but it's simple, basic, safe, and comfortable. Couldn't ask for more (for what you're paying, really).

Quiet, friendly staff, great location!”
Alamanda has very helpful, friendly staff, and for KL, it is a great value. It is in the center of Chinatown, so great food is always close by! As is the norm for SE Asia, the bathroom has no separate shower. The bed in the 1st room was too soft for my b/f's back, but after a room switch, things were great!

Great location, handy to markets and train station”
Hotel was clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Right in the heart of Petaling Street and close to Pasir Seni Station making it easy to see attractions either by walking or public transport.

clean and nice location”
I don't mind the size of the room. Yes, it's really small for two bedrooms but it was neat enough.the shower room is very okay. I so love the location.. walking distance from Central Market and some Hindu Temples. The hotel is just in Chinatown!! the Indian lady receptionist was accomodating, the Chinese old-guy receptionist was not quite happy of our existence..He was not at all polite!
