Very good for the price”
The facilities are old but ok. Nice bed, clean sheets, spacious and comfortable room with good AC. The bathroom was a little moldy (not too different from other places I’ve been) with hot water. Good breakfast. The staff is the best, always helpful and ready to solve any issue you can have.

Dirty”
Dirty, towels dirty, shower dirty, blankets dirty, the room smell humidity. Horrible experience. We book a second night, and they didn't change the towels, didn't refill the champoo, neither the drinking water. Don't clean the bathroom. Dirty and cheap. Finally, we booked a bus in the hotel, and the bus didn't bring us to the destination, it leave us in a near town and we had to take a taxi. They cheat us.

If I could give 0 stars, I would: DIRTY, RUNDOWN, HARD PILLOWS AND BEDS”
Angels Land was so disgusting and terrible I could not stay there more than 3 hours. Then I was transferred to the neighbouring Hotel Glory that is slightly cleaner and is also run by the same family. But is also considerably cheaper. It took me quite a lot of effort and discussions to get the overpay back. On the whole, it was an extremely unpleasant experience with both, angels Land and Hotel Glory.

Decent choice for Hpa-An”
Overall, our stay was ok, with both positive and negative comments. The overall friendliness of the staff and management was great. We had difficulty withdrawing cash at the local bank, and the owner kindly allowed us to charge everything to a credit card. The prices for tours and motorbike rental were a little higher than some of the guesthouses in Hpa-An. We rented a motorbike and were aware the speedometer and manual gear indicator were inoperative, but were surprised to learn none of the lights worked. We had to use the flashlight app on our phones for headlights and taillights. To finish on a high note, the transportation they arranged for us from Hpa-An to the Thai border was the best vehicle we travelled in Burma.

Treated with Exceptional Helpfulness”
Having visited Hpa An several times I decided to try the Hotel Angels Land. I was not disappointed. This will be my hotel of choice having tried all the others in the area. The staff were helpful, co-operative, friendly and enthusiastic - even to the extent of providing food not on the menu - or, in the morning, not in the breakfast buffet. All one had to do ask. However, travellers should realise that they cannot compare hotels in regions of Myanmar with those in the West. The country has just opened up and the big chains are not yet in so the locals are doing the best they can to cope with overwhelming demand to limited room space. All hotels have slow internet, intermittent electricity, comparatively high prices (related to other countries) variable air conditioning and are not that used to foreign tastes or requirements. Criticising any hotel on these points is not a constructive exercise as all hotels suffer from the same defects! However, all in all after staying in many hotels throughout Myanmar this is, for my money, the current best in town. They really, really tried hard to please - so warts and all - it was a pleasant experience.

Very helpful manager, nice rooms but no wifi”
We initially paid for 2 nights at the Angels Land Hotel but had to extend for another 3 nights, for which we paid directly to the hotel. On the first night following our Agoda booking, we were put up in the "dungeon", which we used to describe what is the smallest, darkest room in the building since it has no window and previously only rented out to local drivers. I could see why. That room was small, dark and damp, with little room to maneouver and no desk, just a dresser. The other rooms, including the ones on the first floor without windows are much better - for 4 out of the 5 nights we stayed in a deluxe room with window, spacious and with a shower cubicle. Breakfast was OKish but nothing special. Some days there was a buffet, other days a-la-carte. Even if there was a buffet you could order something off the menu. Staff performance was excellent, (although having 3-4 people open one door felt a bit strange) especially the night shift supervisor Mr. Saw who previously spent 15 years living in Mae Sot, Thailand, followed by another 15 years in Canada, before returning to his native Kayin State. We shared many interesting conversations, alternating between Thai and English, both of which he speaks almost equally well. Although the wifi barely worked during our stay and only very occasionally in the rooms, otherwise it was OK in the lobby and sometimes on the restaurant floor, there was apparently an issue that was affecting internet service throughout the city of Hpa-an at that time, except those places that had Thailand sourced internet service, such as at least one restaurant located just outside of town.

highly committed and lovable staff; cozy rooms”
We arrived at 6 PM and our room was ready almost instantly. It was outfitted with custom made solid wood furniture and felt quite cozy. The bathroom was better than usual: It even had a "western" show and was pretty clean. We had hot water, electricity and internet all day. The staff was really doing everything to make us feel at home and help is with organizing things like bus tickets. Hpa-an is a beautiful place to stay, so we extended our stay to three nights. If we come back to Hpa-An we will return to this hotel. We like the place and the people working there.

Not the best value for money but Hpa-An is overall expensive to stay”
Our group felt that the value for money was off from what you received but considering everywhere in Hpa-An is expensive this seemed to be semi-normal. The staff is very helpful in booking tours and such. The rooms were large, Burmese movie channels were entertaining. The restaurant served decent food and breakfast was average. Location was great and seemed central.

Good place to stay in Hpa-an”
We were in Hpa-An for 3 nights and were very pleased that we chose to stay here rather than in the more budget hotels in the town centre. It was so hot and humid outside that it was a relief to stay in a clean, cool room with air conditioning and a decent shower. The staff were extremely helpful and organised taxis/motorcycles for us at the drop of a hat. We were also lucky enough to catch the start of local New Year celebrations which we would not have known about without their advice. If you want to get the most out of your stay, we cannot speak highly enough of the services of Mr Winn (the uncle of one of the receptionists) as a guide. Both he and his son spent a long day showing us all the sites of the area and managed to cram in so many different experiences that it was a truly magical day! The hotel restaurant was very quiet while we were there, which was a shame. We only ate there once ourselves (we were too tired to go into town after our day with Mr Winn!); the food was good, we appreciated the clean, comfortable surroundings (air conditioned with decent tables and chairs - not plastic!), but it was expensive by Myanmar standards. However, this was the only negative and we would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Hpa-An.

Great stay, great staff”
We had a great time in hpa-an thanx to the great staff and their suggegstions. Rented a motorbike to see the entire area, which was beautifull. Decided to stay an extra night. Would not hesitate to come here. Just one thing: skip breakfast.

Expected better for the price”
The options in Hpa-an are slim and we decided to pay a little extra to avoid the horror stories. Now that we are in Thailand and getting much better lodging for less than half the price we paid at Angels Land, we definitely feel like it's overpriced and overrated. Although bed was big and comfortable, the blanket had some faint stains at the bottom. The bathroom was big with a shower stall but it drained water all the way across the entire floor to the drain on the other side. And the bathroom was in dire need of a deep cleaning. Also, the lighting was really dim everywhere and the carpeted staircases were filthy and unvacuumed. It was nice that they threw in a DVD player with several recent movies, and the included breakfast was cooked fresh on request as opposed to the usual sitting-out-for-awhile buffet. The staff were knowledgeable about mapping out he local sites for us and hiring transportation. BUT the motorcycle rental arrived low on gas and the hotel tried to convince us that filling it up was to be covered by us. Only after we insisted it should be included in the 5,000 ks. for half day rental price did they provide us a 1,000 ks. note for gas.

One choice for hotel in Hpa-An”
Small hotel in the city of HPA-AN. Reception staff and service is very good. Wi-Fi connectivity with Lobby. The rooms are clean and Well worth the effort for price paid. Busy street in front of the hotel.Breakfast is at Buffet But there are few foods. The hotel is near the Thanlwin (Salween) River to a scenic walk along the river.

Convenient, clean and friendly”
Stayed 2 nights. Arrived at 2am and was brought directly to our room, saving the check in stuff for next day. The reception organised motorbikes and a map for us to explore the area around hpa an. They kindly let us use a room to shower after we returned from the road on our final day too, having already checked out earlier that day. The hotel is 3 minutes walk from the riverfront, a gorgeous spot to take in the sundown if you wander to one of the beer stations along the river. Breakfast selection was your standard fried rice, mohinga, bread and jam, etc. Not great if you're after western food, but all in all the hotel is what you'd want and expect from a regional town hotel in myanmar. Would stay again.
