Very good for the price”
The facilities are old but ok. Nice bed, clean sheets, spacious and comfortable room with good AC. The bathroom was a little moldy (not too different from other places I’ve been) with hot water. Good breakfast. The staff is the best, always helpful and ready to solve any issue you can have.
Dirty, towels dirty, shower dirty, blankets dirty, the room smell humidity. Horrible experience. We book a second night, and they didn't change the towels, didn't refill the champoo, neither the drinking water. Don't clean the bathroom. Dirty and cheap. Finally, we booked a bus in the hotel, and the bus didn't bring us to the destination, it leave us in a near town and we had to take a taxi. They cheat us.
Big room, close to night market”
The hotel itself is alright: the room was clean, showers were hot, and the AC worked. Breakfast is served on the top floor, and was pretty good. Our bathroom was kind of stinky and the shower tended to flood a little when using it in the morning, but it was otherwise fine. They have good WiFi, but only in the lobby. The folks at the service counter are phenomenal. They held our luggage for us after checkout until we were ready to pick it up, so we didn't have to carry it around all day, and they helped us drive back to the scooter rental place so we didn't have to make multiple trips with our luggage.
Very helpful manager, nice rooms but no wifi”
I stayed at the Hotel Angels Land on my last night in Myanmar after travelling overland from Myawady to Mu-se and back to Bangkok via the Myawady/Mae Sot crossing. After arriving from Yangon around 8pm, the driver who would take me to Myawady the following morning spotted me at the clock tower and drove me straight to the hotel. Due to roadworks on the new Myawady-Kawkareik bypass road, you can only use it early morning hence I was awoken at 3am and left the hotel at 3.30am. This was probably half an hour too early due to the Gyaing river bridge only opening for traffic at 5am. Still, I was at the border in Myawady by 6.30am and ready to cross back into Thailand around 7am. The manager managed to contact the driver and arrange this trip for me with absolute professionalism. As I didn't have dinner before arriving, I decided to have some Myanmar fried rice and a drink from the hotel's kitchen, served in my room around 9pm. It was delicious. The room was nice as usual, but unfortunately as was the case on my previous stay there's only one in-room TV channel that can be watched at any one time and the wifi was non-existent. Previously, it sometimes worked in the lobby or on the 4th floor but this time nowhere in the hotel, but I was told this was affecting all hotels in the city at the moment. I'll give it around an 8 out of 10 despite these faults, which appear to be largely outside of the control of the hotel anyway.
Improved quite a bit from last visit. ”
I stayed at Angle Land in the past and was not impressed. The hotel management has obviously taken a good look at their operation and have improved in almost all areas. They reduced the price of the rooms and the hotel is much better operated. I am glad that I gave them another go and will do so in the future.
Treated with Exceptional Helpfulness”
Having visited Hpa An several times I decided to try the Hotel Angels Land. I was not disappointed. This will be my hotel of choice having tried all the others in the area. The staff were helpful, co-operative, friendly and enthusiastic - even to the extent of providing food not on the menu - or, in the morning, not in the breakfast buffet. All one had to do ask. However, travellers should realise that they cannot compare hotels in regions of Myanmar with those in the West. The country has just opened up and the big chains are not yet in so the locals are doing the best they can to cope with overwhelming demand to limited room space. All hotels have slow internet, intermittent electricity, comparatively high prices (related to other countries) variable air conditioning and are not that used to foreign tastes or requirements. Criticising any hotel on these points is not a constructive exercise as all hotels suffer from the same defects! However, all in all after staying in many hotels throughout Myanmar this is, for my money, the current best in town. They really, really tried hard to please - so warts and all - it was a pleasant experience.
Good potentiel well located: next to the lake and night food market but honestly dirty and left out... ants everywhere , the pillow and bed full of ...hell i dont know whatever it was ... the room is so full of mold the walls and ouff the bathroom so dirty and moldy. Liking toilet ... staff is sweet and polite they open the dors for you but cluless... unfortunatly they couldnt help at all wifi and ac dont work at all Mini fridge barely works there is a mini bar and they tried to charge us for things we didnt used Thé place could be great homestly... thé room was big thé bathroom too ... but the y need to work on it
If I could give 0 stars, I would: DIRTY, RUNDOWN, HARD PILLOWS AND BEDS”
Angels Land was so disgusting and terrible I could not stay there more than 3 hours. Then I was transferred to the neighbouring Hotel Glory that is slightly cleaner and is also run by the same family. But is also considerably cheaper. It took me quite a lot of effort and discussions to get the overpay back. On the whole, it was an extremely unpleasant experience with both, angels Land and Hotel Glory.
Lovely staff good size rooms and price but bathroom needs a really good clean and bleaching
Staff at front desk are good but breakfast was a joke and really put a damper on my experience, chef (I use this term very loosely) didn't understand a word of English and even when placing a breakfast order with the front desk nothing was prepared! Need to understand as a westerner we don't want noodles for breakfast eggs and fruit are fine. Power cut and no Internet for a whole day of our stay. Finally when we went to check out we're instructed we owed $10USD for early check-in (more then the cost of our room), can't drop an expense like that on a customer the minute they are checking out without mentioning it at all at time of check in. Sort yourselves out or lower your prices because currently you are worse then a hostel with what you offer.
Great staff, so friendly and helpful. Good location , close to the night market. Clean room but sometimes the hot water does not work. Good breakfast included. Helpful with renting motorbikes and with recommendations on places to see.
a nice place”
You have a lot of place in the room. the room is confortable and clean, same for the bathroom. The staff is friendly and helpfull. We had a problem with the AC and they change directly to another room. the breakfast is a buffet.
I've paid on Agoda and the receptionnist told me no room was available, I had to argue in order for them to resign to find me another room in another near by hotel. All this at 2am in the middle of the night after 6h trip by bus. that hotel deserve 0.
outstanding hostel with hotel facilities ”
The place is actually a hotel with some hostel rooms. As a result you benefit from higher end facilities such as welcome drinks, porter, decent reception etc. The bunk beds offer privacy with some curtains that you can pull shut. There are also large lockets that will fit a large back back (mine was 60lts). The only slight niggle is that it's a walk to anywhere but I would still stay there again for a superior and comfortable stay.
Well placed basic hotel”
The room was spacious and bed comfortable. After as often in Myanmar details tend to ruin the experience. The flooring is badly finished, was not clean when we arrived and we were surprised by some cockroach running during the night in the bathroom. But otherwise the service is quite good, the breakfast is not exceptional but welcome to start a day of visit. During our stay the staff was organizing eating competition for breakfast with a free night for the winner ! I would recommend this hotel if you look for a room to spend you night and have some comfort but not if you are looking for a cozy place to chill out !
This was a nice place to stay. A little pricey compared to others. The room was nice although there was some mold on the ceiling but no biggie. The room besides that was great and had a mini fridge and the bed was comfy. AC worked great. The breakfast in the morning is decent, fresh juice and a choice of toast, or noodles or rice. Motorbike rental is overpriced I recommend getting them somewhere else. Staff was friendly and the location was good!
Not the best value for money but Hpa-An is overall expensive to stay”
Our group felt that the value for money was off from what you received but considering everywhere in Hpa-An is expensive this seemed to be semi-normal. The staff is very helpful in booking tours and such. The rooms were large, Burmese movie channels were entertaining. The restaurant served decent food and breakfast was average. Location was great and seemed central.
Nice, midrange hotel”
Nice hotel, conveniently located on quiet street in central Hpa An. Friendly and helpful staff in spite of some language barriers. Rooms (Deluxe) spacious and sunny. Mediocre breakfast serving, and very poor (non-existing, really) wifi connection (though in all fairness, I have heard that wifi is in generel very bad in Hpa An).
A friendly place to stay and convenient location”
This hotel is very well staffed. In fact they were my highlight as they got us a bus ticket back to Yangon and hired us a motorbike ($3 for an hour). The breakfast was a little simple but other than that the beds are great and rooms large! Well worth the money!
Worst stay in 4 weeks of Myanmar travel”
Staff was very rude and not helpful. I wanted to cancel my last day of booking and they just say it's not possible. I just asked for a few dollars of refund but it was literally impossible. The room didn't have windows. After a shower in the bathroom we could almost take a bath as 5cm of water stayed there almost the all day. But thanks to the black tiles and the poor light of the bathroom I almost didn't see it.
Free Wi-Fi in all rooms!
