Service with a smile”
I have stayed her twice a year for years. I keep returning because the staff is so lovely. Our group used the hotel van several times and found the driver to be excellent, prompt and helpful. Housekeeping and laundry staff are recommended,. Breakfast is basic, but omelets can be requested. My home away from home in Pyin Oo Lwin!
My husband and I stayed at Aster Hotel for 3 nights. We were very impressed with excellent services of hotel staff. They can communicate in English very well. The room size is large with nice decoration. We had dinners at the hotel bar for 2 days. Taste of food with Myanmar beer were very good. Only one thing that we would like to request the hotel to improve is the in-room WiFi speed. We definitely will stay at Aster Hotel again next time. Also we will recommend our friends who want to visit Pyin Oo Lwin to stay at this hotel.
Had a bad start with check-in as the receptionist was rather unwilling to serve that made my local friend very unhappy. She sounded rude and abrupt. However, other staff were great. Was surprised that they left us with a quarter full shower gel and shampoo though we just checked-in, and without a floor towel at the shower area. But the manager looked into it quickly. Environment was great. Simple breakfast with attentive staff.
Beautiful and Peaceful Hotel, Clean, Spacious Room, Best Value for Money ”
We were on few days trip to Pyin Oo Lwin for flower festival and Hotel Aster was recommended by a friend. The hotel is on Mandalay-Lashio rd about 10 minutes drive from the city centre. (Keep in mind Pyin Oo Lwin is a small city and the location does not bother us). Most of the attractions and activities are out of town. Its best value for money, a lot cheaper than its competitors. But really clean and every type of rooms are specious compare to other hotels I stayed during my trip. The hotel has beautiful landscaping and water fountain. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. As soon as you leave the room, the staffs came for cleaning my room and they changed all the bed sheets, towels every morning which most hotel does not do. The hotel provided with most things I needed in the room and complimentary bottled water. Overall, I enjoyed staying and would surely stay again at Hotel Aster. I would certainly recommend for you to stay.
Lovely hotel but far out of town”
We liked the hotel as a whole but location-wise, it was quite isolated. The staff were very attentive, beautiful rooms and setting. Food was magnificent even for a dinner, everything nice and fresh. Excellent breakfast and variety was great.
NIce hotel - but far from town”
I really enjoyed our stay at hotel aster. It's a nice, affordable hotel with friendly, helpful staff, and HUGE rooms that are pretty nice. Beds are comfy and I like the interesting bathroom layout, but you need to provide blankets in the winter - even with the heating at its highest, it was a little cold. Not much in the way of facilities, but the breakfast is decent an there is a hotel on site - though i would recommend to eat out in town, as there are far more interesting choices for perhaps only a little more money. It was about a 4000kyat taxi ride from the centre - not much, but it adds up! I would stay here again because I really liked the rooms.
Very, very, good hotel”
Very good from start to finish. Very large, very clean rooms, beautifully furnished with verandah and chairs. Staff very helpful and always smiling. Breakfast was good and asked how we wanted our eggs. Ordered sandwiches for lunch one day and staff had piped the sauce around plate saying good morning. This hotel is set in the outskirts of town but had hotel taxi service so getting around was always easy. The rooms are provided by lodges set around gardens so very pleasant to sit out at end of day and relax.
very big room with a beautiful garden”
Mum and me stayed there for 3 nights, she's picky about hotels, but she loved it at first sight. Our room was one of the semi-detached villas in a beautiful garden with plants and a small pond with fish and lotus. The room was very big with many cabinets, desks and chairs to put our stuff and enough towel racks to air-dry our laundry. We went there in the quiet season, were the only guests almost during the whole stay, so the breakfast and dinner was not varied without many options, and the hotel was located far from the town center, but a shuttle pick-up truck service made up for it, which would send you to the clock tower, if went further, a paid one should be expected.
Nice place out of city center !”
Very nice place, very comfortable and very helpful staff. The food was also very good. Wifi is powerful. It is 5 min by taxi from city center. There's nothing around the hotel except few little stands, so hotel's restaurant becomes the only option when time to eat, though the food is very good.
Awesome service and bargain when out of season”
The stay was lovely, the staff would always give an extra mile for us, whether it was changing booking days free of charge and calling the bus company making sure they'd pick us up from the hotel, as well as waiting on the street for the bus, making sure we get on the right one or don't miss our one.
superb, especially good value for $”
Superb, great value for $, with large room, and good amenities, especially hot water showers. The free shuttle service to and from downtown made up the inconvenience to town, plus the friendly and helpful assistant manager. The hotel was well kept, with clean individual chalets sprawling across a fairly large compound of garden. Very enjoyable stay, and will certainly recommend to friends.
Great staff, lovely rooms and garden”
Yes, the hotel is on the main Mandalay/Lashio road and yes, it can be noisy at times and yes, it is a bit outside of town but all in all we were very pleased with everything. The road quieted down at night so we had no problems sleeping. They provide a free morning and afternoon shuttle to town and at other times it's only 2000 kyet to have Augustine take you to town or the train station. The amazing Botanical Gardens, an imperative, cost a bit more. Augustine also helped us get our train tickets to Hsipaw at the train station making life much easier. Some reviewers complained about the breakfast but we had the largest omelet anywhere during our travels. So they do listen. The Mohingya was excellent also.
Nice stay, comfortable and big room”
The place is very comfortable. Room was big and clean. Problems are 1. noise from the street that was going on all night because we got the first room on the left. 2. The lobby should be cleaner, the floor and tables were very dusty. 3. Breakfast is very simple, we needed to order two fried eggs and the staffs were willing to prepare them for us. Over all, we were satisfied.
Great staff in a clean modern hotel.”
The Burmese people are generally friendly and helpful and the staff at Hotel Aster maintained Myanmar's very high standards in this regard. The hotel is a few kilometres from the town centre and attractions but there is a shuttle into town each morning and a 5pm pick up to get back. The staff were in town later one night collecting supplies and recognised us a gave us a lift back. The hotel is on the main road but the rooms are set back and we did not hear any road noise.
Extremely attentive and reliable staff”
When we had left the hotel with a rented car, we had found and reserved from a restaurant in the city the manager called the driver on his mobile phone. (Apparently they knew the driver,....) We had forgotten our Visa card in the safe. THree days later we would be back in mandalay and they had a messanger sent over to hand me my Visa card as well as 20 USD deposit I had forgotten. What a great service!!Thanks.
Peaceful and pleasant stay”
Upon checkin we were given a free upgrade. Room was very large overlooking beautiful gardens with a small pond and waterfall. Staff friendly and helpful, even going to the extent of changing over our TV as the original one was not showing a picture properly. Excellent value for money (we paid $35 a night), hotel is quite new and we liked the fact that it was a little way out of town. We rented bikes from the hotel for a day and rode out to the Kandawgyi Gardens for the day. Excellent tea house (Lumbini Tea Centre) just down the hill a few mins walk - I would suggest skip the included breakfast (it's not great, we ordered soft boiled eggs and they arrive almost raw - but they did bring us more, unfortunately they were hard boiled) and start your day at the teahouse. Only major drawback is that there was not very good water pressure in the shower and the heat fluctuated - not normally much of a problem but ws a bit of a let down as the rest of the hotel was great.
Very nice bungalows with modern amenities”
We stayed at the Aster for three nights. It really was the nicest place we stayed during our 27 day trip through Myanmar. They even had hot water coming out of the bathroom sink, a rarity here. Very Ikea style decorated place and the breakfast food was fresh and hot. They have a free shuttle into town which is only a ten minute ride. If you take one of their business cards with their phone number you an call them from anywhere downtown and they will come pick you up, no problem. Downtown Pyin Oo Lwin is very charming and there is a very good coffee house called the Golden Triangle. The Aster is all service with a huge smile, and I speak for everyone one of the employess at the hotel.
Lovely hotel in Pyin Oo Lwin”
Lovely hotel with modern, large clean rooms. Probably the best room during my trip to Myanmar. Really great value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is just off the main road from Mandalay - about 3km from Pyin Oo Lwin town centre. I hired a mountain bike from the hotel each day and cycled into town & to the botanic gardens.
New, very clean hotel with superb staff!”
We really, really liked Hotel Aster. The property is set up with bungalows surrounding a small oval shaped tropical garden. The bungalows are spotless, very spacious and obviously brand new (the plastic was still left on our room desk chair). I really liked the bathroom too with a stone flooring layout, and a separate shower (great shower head) and bathtub. Each bungalow has a small patio too, which is ideal for having a sundown drink. While the property is actually quite small, it is maintained meticulously. The garden is really quite lovely. Even with the great rooms and well maintained garden, the staff are what really set this hotel apart. Every single person was always kind, eager to say hello and very helpful. There is always someone on staff that speaks English too which is a plus. My husband and I like to cycle and they arranged nice mountain bikes for us all three days we were there (which isn't so easy to do in Myanmar). We're also vegetarians and they accommodated us with veggie dishes at dinner that weren't on the menu. For us, the location being slightly out of town wasn't a big deal since we rode bikes. However, it is worth saying that the location is a bit outside of the main area (there is a free shuttle though, and you could walk). Really a great place that far exceeded our expectations!
lovely hotel with super staff”
this is by far the best hotel we have experienced in myanmar. the staff are super friendly and are all ging the extra mile to satisfy their customers. the hotel has only one star which should be 3 or more. the hotel is located a good 3km outside pyin-oo-lwin. however for 2000kyats they will bring you to town and pick you up again at any time you want.
