Hotel Asyl Nara Annex
Fairly good experience overall”
Pros: 1. Very helpful/ polite lady receptionist who tried to speak to me in english as i cant speak Japanese. 2. I love the Japanese room style but even better if I get no smoking room. 3. Good public bath, at least I manage to have it at the hotel as I am not able to experience it at the country side 4. The breakfast was good. 5. Shuttle bus to send to train sta ty ion and its free. Cons: 1. Quite far to walk if missed the shuttle bus specially if you have big luggages. 2. My room toilet has a smell and i prefer to go to public bath. 3. Toilet bowl system not functioning properly.
20 minute walk from the station, but a big room.
Good cheap hotel”
It is a good cheap hotel at about the centre of the city on the main road. Helpful staff, fast internet (LAN cable is available at the front desk) and bicycles can be rent. Bus stop is close. I would go again.
It's a couple of km from JR nara station but there is a free bus that start from the hotel to JR station and the other train station. The room was quite big but it smell a lot of smoke cigarettes and also with the window open the smell was big. The breakfast was not so special but people speak quite good english
The location is really bad. Well service just ok.”
Except the location, everything is fine. If u care about money, it's a good choice
Hotel fine but a bit far from Nara Park”
Easy access via shuttle or taxi or public transpor”
Reached late at night so couldn't get shuttle. but its only 5 mins taxi ride from train station and cost around 1000 yen. Room had a bit foul smell but otherwise it was ok.
We greatly enjoyed our stay in Nara.”
We greatly enjoyed our stay in Nara.
ok place for price ...abit out of the way”
Fine for the price and the have a regular free shuttle to stations
Not convenient for travelling”
Location of hotel is too far for anything. There are only few restaurants around the hotel but if you would like sightseeing and shopping, you need to take a bus out. Although they provide free shuttle bus service, the shuttle bus only operate 4 times in a day. Hotel rooms are dull and old. Room are small.
Location is rather difficult to find. Hotel staff do not really speak proper English. But you may still communicate as they can understand simple English. Not many choices for breakfast. Room are small (especially the toilet).
the staff were friendly and spoke sufficient english. i booked a smoking room but the staff was kind enough to offer me a non-smoking room without me asking. the service was really good. i liked the breakfast as well; simple but tasty. the porridge is very nice. while the hotel is not located near any main train stations, they provide free shuttle bus service to the main jr and kintetsu stations (information about this is provided on their website). if you want to take the shuttle bus during the morning shifts, you would have to specifically request for it though. alternatively, the nearest train station to the hotel is kintetsu shin-ohmiya station, which is a 15-20mins walk from the hotel. cross the road in front of the hotel, walk straight till you see a big intersection. cross that road and you will see a happy bean's building, then turn right. walk straight till you see a convenience shop with red and yellow signboard called daily yamasaki (this takes about 10-15mins), then turn left. walk straight and you will see the station. otherwise, bus 28 services a route from bus stop no. 10 (near kintetsu nara station) to bus stops near the hotel. i would recommend this hotel if you are staying for a relatively long period and prefer a quiet area to go back to. for a 1-2 days stay, a hotel located near the main stations would be better for convenience sake and easier access to the major attractions.
Hotel outside of the city center of Nara”
Unfortunately we mixed up this hotel with another hotel, which is much closer to the Nara Park. Hovewer, this hotel offers a shuttle service to the City Center of Nara. With the check in we were really unhappy. When we booked the hotel via Agoda unfortunately only a smoking room was left for bookings. So I asked at the check in, if there's a non-smoking room available. The lady told us that the hotel is fully booked and that there is no further non-smoking room available. While waiting for our room cards another client came to the reception which was served by another lady and complained that the rooms are very smelly and it seems that some guest before smoked in that room although it's a non-smoking room. The other receptionist told them no problem, we change your room to another non-smoking room. So I asked our receptionist again regarding a non-smoking room. She felt quite embarrassed and told us that there's unfortunately no other room. Soo bad and we were really pissed off about this kind of service! Obviously the hotel management felt bad as well, so they offered us to air cleaning service for our room. The rooms were quite small, dark, but clean. Hotel is around 1.5-2km outside the city center of Nara. Breakfast in the morning was average. Hotel Nara Asyl Annex was in terms of service the worst experience we made during out 10 days trip in Japan.
Far Off Location with smoky rooms”
The hotel is so far away from the nearest train station and also so far away from the shopping district where the shopping street and deer parks were. It is so hard to find a restaurant at night as they were all far from the hotel. I would rather pay a little more for the hotels all near the shopping area and save on my transport and time.
nice budget hotel with nice staff”
it's a nice hotel. the location is a bit far from jr nara station for walking. but u can take the free shuttle bus or get on the bus at no. 10 bus stop & in the front the hotel. or you may rent the bike at hotel front desk to wander around in nara where is a bike-friendly town. it's not expensive at all. the hotel staff speak simple eng but very friendly & helpful.
Classical small but nice budget hotel”
it is not near the train station but there is a free shuttle bus service from the Hotel Asyl Nara ( near nara station) and it took you down in 10 minutes; however, this useful information was not shown on web. sure, you could take the No.10 bus from the train station Room is spacious and clean. Free internet service at room but no wifi service. There are many restaurants near the hotel. Staffs at reception spoke simple English and were friendly and helpful.
excellent service & nice location”
I took my mum traveling in Kansai & living in Hotel Asyl Nara Annex while we staying in Nara. It's a nice hotel even I accidentally pick the unwanted smoking room. (It smells not that bad. :p) The location is not far from JR Nara station & u can get on the bus at No. 10 bus stop, then get off in the front the hotel. Or you may rent the bike at hotel front desk to wander around in Nara where is a bike-friendly town. It's not expensive at all. The hotel staff is very friendly & helpful. They recommended me some nice restaurants/ 居酒屋 when I asked for help. Also, the breakfst tasted good. Yet, I have no time to try their (hot spring?) bathing pool this time. I'll be back next time.
El personal muy atento y recomendable aunque esta un poco retirado de los templos pasa un bus que nos deja en frente del hotel muy bien
