Reasonable hotel in an edgy neighbourhood”
Arrived there late afternoon and the street leading to the hotel looked a little unsafe however after we got to know Barceona and the area better, it felt safe. It's right beside a couple of student hostels and university, so lots of convenience stores, cheap bakeries and food joints serving very local customers. The hotel looked like it was in the midst of an upgrade.... there was a hole in the wall of the hotel room - unplastered, the door is new and the layout strange. Cleanliness could have been better, Was expensive for the standard of the hotel but it must have been a high season. Location wise was great as it was in the Raval district and the hotel is walking distance to the subway and bus stops, to the sea side and to La Rambla

Poor condition”
At the reception, the staff was just busy with his paperwork. No hello, no smile , no eye contact,. Felt we were not welcome. Morning shift guy was much nicer. Tiny room . The bed looked smaller than double bed. Everything was old. No siting area. No fridge etc. I like Agoda booking but this was the worst experience. Fortunately we stayed only two nights

Below standard Hotel”
Very below than my expectations. Very old fashioned, congested room, even you cannot walk, though I was in double bed room. However, I would never recommend anyone to stay in this hotel. Lifts are very very old.

Good vibe at a budget hotel”
Friendly and helpful reception staff, Value for money, Close to Rambos
Recommend it if you want a really good cheaper hotel - I enjoyed 3 days and 2 nights at Hotel Barbara. The staff were warm and welcoming and very helpful. There is a lift. The room was clean and comfortable for a budget hotel in England/Europe (NB: no electric kettle or microwave in room - need to go out for a cup of tea). An electrical adaptor was available for recharging camera, mobile etc, as well as wifi and there was use of pc at reception for 3 euro. Room had airconditioning and shower over a bath. The centre of Barcelona was just a medium walk away at the Rambos. Was able to find meeting places for Gaudi tours easily. The weather in September was warm and balmy and my stopover there was a highlight. Need to give Barcelona more time to "do" everything - missed the Gaudi park and didn't venture into the crowded but very enticing market on the Rambos but hopefully I'll be back.
