stately convenience on the cheap”
I don't think you'll find a prettier hotel than the Batha for this price. They seem to economise on things like hot water (available mornings and evenings) and inessential upkeep in order to offer low rates. Thus, for example, the locks have a very antique feel (but work fine). Personally, I think it's a good tradeoff. The location is perfect for exploring the medina. The bar in the back of the hotel is one of the few places in town to get a drink. The only thing I would caution prospective guests about are the guides this hotel engages for its guests. I realise it's standard for guided tours to include commercial stops but the guy they got to show me around the medina was taking me to shop after shop and wouldn't take no for an answer. Having to physically resist him as he literally tried to drag me into yet another shop was a surreal experience. He didn't provided much historical background or insight into the places we passed, although this may have been in part because there was no language we were both fluent in. I took this tour from a short, stocky man in a black trench coat who charged me 250 Dhm. I don't know if other guides are better but if I had offered a kid in the medina one tenth of that price to direct me to the Kairaouine mosque, I doubt I'd be refused. The medina's principal landmarks are close to each other and it would be simple to find them from there.

great location near medina”
friendly staff and good budget restaurants around the corner,
Good place to be with friendly staff. They recommend a guide for the first day and it was worth it. We saw all the highlights, so the other day we could explore our own things in the medina. Second day the hotel arranged a private taxi to Vulubilis and Meknes. Great trip but the driver brings you to an expensive hotel for lunch (commission). On the square in front of the medina there are a lot and cheaper restaurants.

First Impressions can be deceiving”
Lovely interior design,
Bathrooms dirty television not good, double beds horribly uncomfertable
First apparentness are very good Colorfuland polite staff. Once inside the room where not up to scratch Bathrooms dirty very little hot water, shower head pointed in the wrong directions The room was nice but we traded from a very uncomfertable double bed to twin beds which were very nice.

Bland Hotel near Fes Medina”
I would not recommend this place. If you are aiming for location and are considering this hotel for its proximity to the Medina, I believe it's worth spending some more money to stay at a nicer riad within the Medina. Or if location to the medina is not important, stay in the nicer hotels located in the "new" city part of Fes.

Posizione fantastica all ingresso della Medina.”

Batha hotel”
zeer goede ligging t.o.v. medina

Fez hotel Batha aug 2010”
