Highest Hotel in Penang?”
the surrounding is very comfortable and the hotel is just fine if you do not expect much. the view from the restaurant is breathtaking but the steamboat dinner is a letdown. i advise you can take your lunch/dinner at the penang hill visitor’s centre food court (more variety). also, pay a visit to david brown’s restaurant & tea terraces and enjoys another great view of penang island while having your lunch/dinner there. last, there will be more new attraction on the hill. the new canopy walk (200m) & nature trail (1.6km) will be open next year, feb 2013.

Charismatic hotel in a great location”
I stayed for one night, I am fairly certain I was the only guest. I took the funicular up early in the morning & was very pleased when the hotel staff let me check in at about 9.30 am. My room was upstairs with a big window that looked out over the trees & plants. The room was basic & clean with enough furniture & lighting, a fan but no ac. There was no wifi in the room. The bathroom again basic with electric water heater for the shower but no towels or soap. I did manage to get a couple of ageing & thinning towels but was not successful in acquiring any soap. There is a very nice terrace with great views on which you can have meals or just relax, free wifi was available here. The menu is fairly extensive with some local & more international choices. There is a minimal selection of canned beers & no wine as well as soft drinks. Some diners did bring their own wine. The evening meal was pretty good, plenty of it at a reasonable price. The breakfast though I thought was expensive for what you get but the view from the terrace in the morning was very pleasant. The staff were all very friendly & helpful, it is a short walk from the funicular station. I would stay there again when I visit Penang hill again.

Great location with friendly staff”
this hotel is located on top of penang hill , it seems to be the only hotel on the hill . there are sensational views from the restaurant . the staff were incredibly friendly , they couldnt help us enough . the actual hotel is fraying around the edges & it not be unreasonable to consider that some refurbishments would be considered within a short timeframe . there is a small bird aviary & gardens setup which is free to hotel guests & is worthwhile spending 20 minutes or so checking it out . we got the room on a sale rate , this being the case , it was good value

Nostalgic Hotel”
cozy up at the penang hill during sunset with cool view of penang habour and been honoured to stay in room number 'one' of most popular historical person for penang knight ,tributes to the late richard buckminster fuller (nicknamed bucky). until his death in 1983, bucky was the specialist consultant to the komtar project. the room is under new refurbishment,.i'm so lucky to get the same old price charges. night staff were friendly and i'm indebted to all of them for the free bbq dinner (indian couple) upon their farewell party ! thank u so much. fyi: there's no room service after 2100 hours !

Beautiful location”
It was a nice hotel. They were in the middle of renovating, but the noise was over around dinner time so wasn't a problem. Our room was new and the beds were comfortable. It was very relaxing. The only problem was getting up there on the train with luggage. On the way up every employee that saw us asked us where we were going. When we told them the hotel, they looked confused. It made us doubt we were in the right place. Nobody offered us any help. Turnstiles were a nightmare. It's a long hike up hill to the hotel from the train. The way down was the opposite. The train staff opened gates for us and helped with the bags.

Cool and scenic”
The hotel is abit run down but still provides the nostalgic experience. A no frills hotel that provides simple dinning, breakfast and more importantly the invaluable freshness one gets from the cool air at that high altitude. It was also an experience worthy of the effort in riding the new tram up the steep Penang Hill. Once up there, it was a totally different atmosphere - as if you have entered into a different dimension where time stands still. Good place to relax, recharge and to escape from the rat-race.

Fantastic Night View”
in my point of view, bellevue hotel is a great place to stay for couple in honey moon. the main attraction will be the awesome night view whereby the whole penang is in your sight at one glance. the cold breeze is so comfortable and really a great experience to enjoy your dinner at outdoor with great scenary and cold ambient. the bird partk also another attraction which worth a visit. the hotel room still have room to improve, especially the hot water system seem like unable to supply warm water effectively and it will be great if the hotel able to supply soap or shampoo for shower. in additional, if the sound insulation of the room can be improve then it will be great for those traveler who wish to enjoy a comfort and relax night without disturbed by the night karaoke. in short, i still glad that i have a chance to stay in this hotel and as overall i am satisfied witht the hotel. thumbs up!!! cheer

Cozy terrace on top of Penang hill”
For its location, this accommodation is quite value for money. The staff are very friendly and it’s quite an affordable way to experience living on a hill. Even though there was no air conditioning, the temperate was cooling at night. While the rooms were pretty clean, the bedsheet and pillows had a rather mouldy smell and my body was quite itchy at night. I am unsure if it’s due to the bedsheet and pillows. In addition, an air freshener inside the room will help a big deal. Would definitely consider staying here again if I were to visit Penang hill again.

Thanks for your valuable feedback and will certainly look into the bed sheet and pillows if it needs to be either clean or change a new ones. Hope to welcome you back here again in the near future. Cheers Regards Robert Khor Hotel Manager
great location”
This is an old colonial hill on Penang hill. At the wall there are old photos from the Biritsh days where the hotel did not look much idfferent. The best thing of the hotel is the verandah and the view down to Georgetown, expecially at night fascinating. the rooms are spaciousl though the furtniture is a bit old and the bathrooms as well. The breakfast is simple Malayian, raw egg. In front of the hotel is a bird park with several parrots and other interesting and colorful birds whihc is free for hotel guests. You can do good walks around the hill and avoid the crwods staaing after the last furnicular has left.

Beautiful garden with a view!”
Overall, we had an enjoyable & relaxing stay in Bellevue. A few things to note: - The rooms & bathrooms are a bit old & tired-looking, with some needed repair - the rooms are more like that of a budget/backpackers hotel. - To us, the highlight was definitely the garden which had a beautiful view of Georgetown especially at night, when all the lights come out! The kids also had a great time running around in the garden. - There is a small bird aviary at the hotel which is free for guests. - If you wish, you can also try out their Segways at RM10 for 10 minutes

Stay here just for the view and location only.”
Perfect location, 5 min walk to all the other attractions on Penang Hill and yet still secluded enough to have enough privacy for ourselves. Staff service was good and accommodating. Bed was really comfortable and bathroom was renovated although the water heater wasn't functioning well. Room cleanliness was not up to standard, there were ants around and some pillows have awful smell. However, we stayed here for the view as our room has garden view and the restaurant back there has an amazing view of Penang, esp at night. Breakfast was simple but tasty for RM 25 per pax.

hotel with great view, especiialy at night”
we stayed for one noght on the top of penang hill, it is a old hotel 120 years. the rooms are large but in old style, it is not luxery. you can walk around and there is a nice garden with birds and snakes. the people are very nice and helpfull. the trainto penang hill is not working this year so you have to take a 4WD, it costs 60 RM. If you like great views and romance then just stay for one night.

The only hotel in Penang Hill”
We check-in to the hotel during Chinese New Year eve and have our steamboat dinner at the hotel restaurant. The dinner is so-so but the view of the Penang Island from the restaurant is great. The air is cold at the hill, especially after 7pm and early in the morning. You will feel like you are at Cameron highlands We found out later that the Penang Hill Visitor’s Centre is already re-opening after major renovation and there is a food court inside the building. Beside the Visitor’s Centre food court, there is another restaurant call David Brown’s Restaurant and Tea Terraces which is a British styled restaurant serving fine British cooking and local food as well but the price is much higher. Good place for relaxing and also, do not miss the buggy ride (Electric car ride) from the hotel (RM 30 for 25 minutes ride and RM 60 for 45 minutes), I recommended the 45 minutes ride since it brings you to some the beautiful old heritage bungalow at the hillside. Last, if you planned to come and stay at the hotel it is best to make the booking in advance through Internet booking like Agoda website. It is cheaper than the hotel walk-in rate.

Great View, Poor Maintenance”
We have been to Penang Hill & spending our night there almost every year. But this is the first time staying at Belleview. Overall the location of the hotel is fantastic coz it is 5 minutes walking distance to the food court & other activities at the hill. The view from the hotel at dawn & sunset is such a beautiful experience. The sad part is; the condition of the hotel especially the room. Once we enter the room, there is one kind of musty smell & we got damp bed sheet & pillow. Don't expect a luxury hotel coz this is a very basic hotel with no TV. You have to share TV with others at the dining hall. End up we spend our night at the garden. Really hope that the management will take initiative to upgrade the condition of the hotel coz it is one of the famous landmark of Penang. TQ

In the midst of Nature”
If you love nature and want to slowly explore Penang Hill, this is the hotel you should consider. Though they may yet to do some upgrade or renovation now, heard it will be done soon. The location next to The Habitat Penang Hill is perfect. Get room no.11 if you want to see from your window squirrel and monkey. Friendly staffs.

Very cozy and very "warm" experience.”
My family stay began with a horrible booking experience.. Somehow the booking went invalid 1day before arrival. Lucky Agoda and the hotel staffs made it thru and we got a standard and a chairman suite! The rooms are quite colonial in style. The big brick wall, the door hinges and etc proven the hotel were built during the pre-war era. But the toilet and the amenities are all new!! So it is kinda hybrid we hav in the room. Just that no TV and Astro. I like all the kind and warm staffs. Specially goes to Mr Chan and the buggy tour guide Mr Ruben. Despite the heavy downpour that me and family missed out the sunrise, but we got a good look at the picturesque yet panoramic scenic view of the whole Penang in the morning. Now that I felt very regret for not tipping Mr Ruben more!

New Renovated with Friendly Staff”
hotel basically still under renovation and the room is quite big but no TV although they offer us the new renovated room. it's a hotel renovated from an old ancient bangalow and the owner had collection of some antic in the hotel. staffs are very friendly. i will recommend for a relax and back to natural staying if you want a rest. might bring kids to have a history and natural experience tour. do spare more time cause they have a lot of activity line up for you if the weather is good. if you are lucky like us, then you will have a chance to have a look on the beautiful bird eye scenery on whole Penang Island view...
