Good Location Hotel”
Location, Value for money, Room is air-conditioned
The whole stay was quite pleasant. Staff was very helpful and guide us to all the attraction around the area. Although the wifi was abit slow, maybe due to the world cup streaming by other occuipers. Room was abit small for 3 person.

Perfect place to stay in La Sprecia”
The commitment by the 2 business partners to ensure you have a comfortable stay. The great breakfast buffet. The cleanliness of my room.
The two business partners were really welcoming and went out of their way to make my visit comfortable. The buffet breakfast was superb, cold dishes but the choice was great and spoiled me for future small hotels. The newly decorated rooms were tasteful, especially the breakfast room. For the price I considered this one of the best value hotels of my 5 week trip. Also having a bar and coffee and tea making facilities was great, as this is something many Italian hotels are lacking. For having somewhere to stay close to the Cinque Terre, I found La Sprezia was great. The railway to the villages, starts there, also for onward travel, it's very convient and combined wth stay at La Birillo makes it convient and economical. Enjoyed La Sprezia very much, not the gritty town as often portrayed

Waste o Dollars”
easy to get to Cinque Terre
lets be honest here, your going to la spezia so that you can get the train to cinque terre. mistake. dont waste your time in this town. there is nothing here. dont sell this amazing time you will have in cinque terre short by staying here. pay the little extra and stay in one of the 5 towns. as for the hotel i feel bad because the staff were all trying hard. but the rooms smelt like piss, worst shower i have come across, and it was a rip off for 82 euro.

Cinque Terra”
This is a family run hotel and has a genuine Italian feel to it. The staff are friendly but be warned that very little English is spoken. The free internet access is really helpful in forward planning.
There are three floors and no lift, so be prepared for some exercise. If you are dragging trolley luggage, be prepared for a fair deal of cobblestone street.
We really enjoyed our time at Hotel Birillo mainly because of its convenience to all of La Specia's facilities. It is a little further from the train station than other reviews suggested. We were able to travel to the Cinque Terra by boat and train, and by bus to Porto Venere, our information was sourced from the tourist information centre on the waterfront rather than from hotel advice because of our minimal Italian conversation ability. The morning cappuchino is a 'real' coffee!
