Don't believe the bad reviews”
Ok.so everyone is allowed an option but reading reviews after you have booked can be quite daunting. Well I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how good the blyss was our room for 4 girls was 303 and u would recommend that room if there is a group. We all had our own comfortable single bed and really enjoyed our trip. As a regular to amsterdam the location is superb.
Clean and quiet with a friendly staff. ”
Hotel Blyss was a blessing. It’s clean and quiet and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. He location is excellent in that it is away from the chaos and party atmosphere of the city center yet an easy walk or tram ride to anywhere. I would recommend Hotel Blyss to anyone.
beautiful hotel and very freindly helpful staff..”
stayed here for 2 night... the staff were more than accomodating... and very frriendly... room was very nice.. bathroom was a worn.. but still a good standard.. had a sat box in the room with UK channels.... thoroughly enjoyed and would definately recommend hotel blyss and stay here again on my next visit.
The hotel is located near the bus to and from the airport (Leidseplein bus station, for bus 197) and is also accessible through the Centraal station (this about half an hour's walk, or more if you are carrying luggage as we discovered on the first day). The hotel is on the small side, but is close to so many attractions that we covered most of our must-see-sights list in 3 days. The rooms are not as small as we expected (having looked at so many reviews for European rooms) but not large by any standard. However, we had plenty room to move about with 2 roll-along luggage and a small backpack. The bathroom was a little small, but not as small as in some other places. The staff were very friendly and helped with our numerous queries. Overall, we liked the stay and would come back.
Quiet, affordable garden room near Vondelpark”
We were well taken care of here by the manager. Our room had a window opening fully to the quiet garden, bringing in fresh air. It was a lovely and peaceful get away from the hectic streets of Amsterdam.
Pretty basic, great location”
And this is what you get when you book your stay two weeks in advance. I don't know if the other rooms are of higher specs but mine was definitely not; single bed, even though surprisingly comfortable, ok shower but my main concern was the stain-covered wall, which did not make a good first impression. I really wanted to stay near Oud West and explore the are so it was the perfect location for that. And a quiet one for that matter. Going for a bike ride in Vondelpark could not be easier, as it is literally just down the road from the hotel. It's about a 15-20' walk to the centre if you don't mind walking - I didn't use the metro at all for the three days I was there for. Overall, it's good choice if you want to be around that area - and I'd highly recommend it - and don't mind not staying in a facny hotel.
The room is neat and tidy. We bought the 3 day tourist pass for our stay in Amsterdam and therefore we had no problem in commuting from the city center to the hotel, the hotel is close to tram and bus stations.
Great for a short stay”
I read lot of reviews about this hotel before our trip and was really scared since they were quite afwul. The reality was not that bad. The hotel is in a quiet very nice street. Trams are passing and also hotel walls are thin so if you are not deep sleeper take earplugs with you. Lobby was nice and staff very friendly and helpful. There are steep stairs to the first floor but you can also use elevator. Corridoors are horrible and smells like cigarettes BUT the room was ok and no smell at all. Our room was "Double or Twin Room" and we got really spacious double. Bed was excellent. Toilet and shower was ok and clean. It is true, that this hotel needs renovation and thats why I would recommend to stay only few nights. There are stains everywhere, floor is uneven, windows really hard to use, tv did not work etc but since we stayed 2 nights and stayed in the hotel only to sleep it was ok. In a city that only has expensive hotels this was excellent choice. You can easily walk everywhere.
Basic hotel; avoid the basement!”
Hotel Blyss is closer to a 2-star hotel than 3-star based on overall level of comfort, amenities, and service. Everything is very basic (e.g. only hand soap in the bathroom, no safety deposit box, etc.) and the service is fine but generally only one person at the front desk so sometimes there is a wait, sometimes you have to get your own luggage, etc. It's in a great location but for me, that didn't make up for the lack of comfort for the price. Specific to my experience: First night I was put in a single room in the basement which was awful. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the room was small and dark and did not seem clean (there was a spider in one corner). I asked the next morning to change rooms and to their credit, they accommodated me to a single room on the first floor which was much better.
The hotel is strategically located. Just walking distance near to Van Gogh Museum and Rijkmuseum. The room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff is friendly. Good value for money. Would recommend to everyone, especially solo travellers!
Good location but small room”
It is actually very near to Tram station that can be easily connecting from Airport Metro. However, one must get alighted at the right station. The room is pretty small but neat and clean. However, the internet is chargable be it in the room or at the lobby. The staffs are courteous and efficient. Comparing to other hotels with very high price, this is one good option even though i find the room prices here are not really worth it compare to other countries/places like Berlin.
Ok-ish for money”
Nice, ok-ish place in convenient location if you want to visit Amsterdam city center. Nothing wrong with this hotel (although we could hear the neighbors, thin walls) but also not much appealing. Hotels in Amsterdam center are scarce and relatively expensive, hard to find real nice hotel for reasonable prices.
Good location but poor service”
The hotel is located near to the Vondelpark and a short stroll from the busy Leidsche plein. The room is small, but in line with what most hotels have on offer in Amsterdam, with good beds. The service is not too good.
omg! This hotel is one step better than skid row alley in LA districts.”
The amount that they charging for the room its should have been comparable to 4 or 5 star hotel. I was very disappointed the room was located on a home basement under ground it appears like they build a room underneath some ones home. It’s smell like sewer line, TV it doesn’t work, cartain appears was half way hung, no heather temp control felt like cooking oven inside the room, only one light works in the room, it’s a run down room old ragedy smelly and very old room the furnitures were tore up. Sorry to give this hotel a undesirable review I felt like this is a completely ripe up!!, sorry Agoda travel you should have check this stablesment before recommending it, I have use Agoda many time in the past for my airline and hotel and I was very satisfied. The Blyss Hotel in Armstadan I would have to give them a failing grade review.
You get what you pay for”
For the money you would expect more, but in fairness to the hotel everything that was advertised was provided. I personally find the idea of totally non-refundable accommodation a little scummy. Like other reviews the rooms were quite hot, but at my request a fan was provided which was satisfactory. There is nothing 'wrong' with this hotel it is ideally located, I just think that given the price you might as well just pay bit extra.
good location and friendly staff”
The location is good, the guests can walk to the Leidseplein and Museumplein. But the hotel price is comparatively high in Amsterdam.
Nice Quiet Locatoin”
The hotel is located in a nice quiet location close to an Airport Express Bus Stop. Using public transport it is easy to get to all the attractions. Rooms and bed were comfortable but we had trouble with the tv signal. We were advised that there was a problem with all the tv's at the hotel, but another room we were visiting had a perfect signal. Appears it was more poor cabling that fed up into the ceiling space. A wiggle of them improved it, but still poor.
It was so great that i have to write this application. Manners is best of all hotel.
Basic hotel in a great location and nice staff”
Hotel is very basic. Could do with some refurbishing. TV did not work. We needed clean and comfortable bed and shower and that's what we got. Fresh towels daily and good Wi- signal. Location was very good. Coffee shop around the corner and bus stops/boat stops just down the road. Steep steps and elevator goes only to first floor. Overall happy with our stay.
Not for a single mom with a teen. Don't go there! ”
I went to Amsterdam with my 14 year old boy. I am a very young single mom, flexible but with clear boundaries. Although the staff in general was very kind, one of them wasn't wise or diplomatic at all. the first thing he said to me in front of my son was that all kind of drugs were allowed in the back patio ( smoked ones, in a way that sounds like I would like to know that, which is totally out of what I was hoping to hear). I don't think is a right thing to say to a costumer they dont even know this kind of things, way worst if the costumer is with teens around. I mean I understand Amsterdam is open minded about things, but this was way too much !. Second, the room i got had a beautiful view, however it didn't have any AC or fan system therefore I needed to keep the window open. It was on a first floor with window to the patio, in where very young people were smoking weed, talking about all sort kind of drugs and smoking cigarettes ! My son got sick... it was a nightmare for me.
