Very friendly and helpful staff”
Not everything always runs smoothly but very responsive when there are any issues. Restaurant food excellent Indian menu. Could be a little more professional but now in a more professional hotel and really missing the personal touch at the Red Canal :-(

A wonderful oasis in Mandalay”
What a lovely hotel, from the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and very friendly, always happy to provide advice and guidance on what to do and see in Mandalay. It is all ways lovely to get a local perspective and to be surround by people who love their work and go above and beyond to assist in every way possible. Breakfast was lovely and where we planned our day ahead, we also ate in the resturant each evening with a wonderful selection of new and interesting meals to try, delicious and the staff again truely wonderful, making us feel so special and recommending some of their favourites. We highly recommend Hotel by the Red Canal to visitors of Mandalay and look forward to returning one day.

Superb hotel highly recommended!!”
We stayed 3 nights at the red canal and could not fault the staff or hotel, they were very attentive and helpful. Excellent service and great rooms, the food was great and all the staff happy. We had one of the best meals on our trip at red canal, they also organised a taxi to take us round the sights of Mandalay which was a big help and we loved Mandalay Hill view. This hotel is setting the standard for others in Mandalay and if back in Mandalay will return.

Hidden gem”
The Red Canal Mandalay is really a hidden gem in the heart of Mandalay. You are warmly greeted as soon as you step on the property. The pool was clean and had a boutique type feel. We had a canal view room with a balcony overlooking the small stream. It was nice to sit out and relax in the morning with a coffee. The room was small but well appointed and filled with special touches. Cocktails by the pool, coffee and snacks in afternoon...great option for a big city!

My first stay in Myanmar. Best experience”
Everybody told me not to go to Mandalay and I am happy I did not listen. Mandalay is certainly an interesting city and there's a lot to see and do and it's not overcrowded with tourists. When in Mandaly, go to the Hotel by the Red Canal (don't doubt): it's the best choice. From Mandalay take the Irrawaddy Princess II trip (2 nights) to Bagan!

Amazing płace in the middle of busy city. ”
This is amazing place Iocated in busy Mandalay. Personnell puts a lot of effort to make you feel comfortable and unique. They can also arrange a good price trips to visit all most interesting places in Mandalay and neighbourhood. I recommend one day trip to Inava, mahamuni and Mingun. Every evening there is free cocktail session by the pool, for one hour they mix drinks for you, two with and one without alcohol. Hotel restaurant is in separate building and serve wide variety of food, good quality and fresh. Definitely slow food. I do recommend the hotel for a few days in Mandalay. (Ask for room with windows to pool side, back of hotel doe not have a nice view).

Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
the hotel is not located in downtown, so the benefit is quietness and drawback is distance to travel agency and restaurants. however you can ask receptionist to book taxi for your to distance, and it will not take too long; most impressive to us is the great service , from the lovely welcome board when we first arrived, the greeting frozen towels & welcome drink whenever we were back to hotels, to sincere smiles and patience of the people there to all of our inquiries and requests. it is really small, but exquisite and delicate in each details. we can see the spirit of "boutique" everywhere in this hotel, nice maintained garden, beautiful teak interior decorations, free afternoon tea/snacks and evening cocktail party. there are not too many choices for nice hotels with good price in mandalay now. this hotel is highly recommended by me if boutique hotel is your preference of stay for business or trip.

A comfortable hotel with a welcoming pool. ”
We stayed in a Kachin Suite. A suite implies a large room but they are not. I'm gathering the Kachin suites are on the ground floor and other suites are on higher floors (I think it only had 3 floors) The staff are all lovely and friendly and the ratio of staff:guests seems fairly high so there is always someone to help you. The pool is lovely for trying to combat the heat of walking around Mandalay. The hotel has bikes - but they charge 2500 per half day to hire them (only around £1.75)We took advantage of the free tea and coffee served between 2.30-5.30 on the second floor - nice and relaxing, and also the free cocktails between 6.30-7.30pm (choice of 2 alcoholic, 1 non-alcohlic)We ate dinner at the spice garden restaurant there which had a fantastic wide choice of food with mainly of an Indian influence and really well priced for such a nice restaurant. Only stayed one night but would have eaten here again if we were staying. Breakfast was good too with fresh eggs offered the way you want them cooked and a buffet of the normal breakfast goods. If you want a hotel with a pool but with personal service, then its worth paying that bit extra for.

Nice hotel... wish we could have stayed long”
The Hotel by the Red Canal was very nice. I would stay there again, or at least return for a meal. The staff were very helpful and polite, and the rooms were quite comfortable. Unfortunately, we were only there for one night and left early in the morning for a river boat trip, so we could not enjoy the breakfast and more time in the hotel.

One of few hotels you can feel Mandalay”
My room was already set and air-conditioned when I arrived the hotel earlier than normal check-in time. Room was spacious and everything was ok but I'd like to have a view to their garden and my request to change the room was easily accepted in just ten minutes. The male staff guided me to the room was very friendly and helpful. When I finished a very nice dinner at their restaurant, that male staff asked me if I can help to communicate with other customer from my country staying at their sister hotel who got some problem with his stolen passport and hardly can speak in English. After I talk with him I found all the problem had settled by the hotel and could feel that the hotel really cares their customers. On departure, my flight was early in the morning and they provided me a breakfast box voluntarily. This hotel is neither so big nor as beautiful as seen in the somewhat-bluffing pictures on Agoda but I will stay there again on my next trip to Mandalay and would like to experience their hospitality once again.

MAM”
Lovely hotel with fantastic service, beautiful gardens and delicious food in the Spice Garden restaurant. The pool and its surrounds are very nice although inevitably the pool area is rather limited given that it is a boutique hotel in the middle of Mandalay. Location is good but there is a bit of noise during the day/evening in the pool and dining areas from the roads on two sides of the site. We didn't hear a thing at night in our room though. Hotel driver is excellent and staff extremely welcoming and helpful.

Great hotel and service, but awful internet”
After an exhausting day travelling by car with driver from the Chinese border at Mu-se, arriving at this hotel and it's beautiful gardens and friendly staff was a welcome relief. We were even able to have a swim at the pool around 10pm after returning from dinner - note that the pool is very small and shallow, good for relaxing, refreshing after a long day in hot Mandalay or if you have kids but too small for swimming laps. The internet was unfortunately the worst I encountered in Myanmar, yet this hotel was by far the most expensive I stayed at! Apart from this, my stay was almost perfect but the hotel has to rectify this problem otherwise it could damage the otherwise good reputation it has.

Superb service, boutique luxury experience”
Free cocktails at happy hour were a very nice touch. Only a 5 minute drive to Mandalay Hill and location next to canals was ideal. The best part was the very accommodating staff who handled every request seamlessly.

still wonderful”
This was our second stay at red canal and we will certainly return. Beauiful garden, individually equipped and wonderful decorated rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. We had the "complimentarys" (better cmpulsary)Xmas dinner there. The decoration of the garden was extremely careful and lovingly. They had a band which gave their best to entertain the mostly spoiled and elderly guests. Food was good.

Beautiful hotel but expensive”
This is a lovely relatively new hotel. It has a lovely pool, wood everywhere and free cocktails between 6 and 7 every night. They call all their rooms suites but in fact they are just average size hotel rooms and are nothing like suites - I was quite disappointed. Burma is so popular now that hotels are charging ridiculous prices, particularly in Mandalay it seems. This is no exception and the rooms aren't really worth it; you would get much better in Europe for the prices they are charging. However, if you want to go to Burma you may have to bite the bullet (just like we did).

Nice Hotel, with friendly and and helpful staff.”
Don't be fooled by the dirt road that leads to Red Canal Hotel. The hotel in itself is very nice and has a good location.
