So convenient to take a water taxi from the airport to this hotel”
This was the perfect location for us. We flew in to Venice and it was so easy to book a water taxi directly to this hotel. Great service, food and cleanliness. We were booked to take the train to Bologna and the train station is directly across from this hotel on the other side of the canal. We had lightweight luggage so the transport was just so easy. We walked everywhere in Venice as it is completely walkable to everything you may want to see.

Great Hotel”
Everything at this hotel was top notch. Wonderful location on the Grand Canal that was quiet but conveniently close to everything. Outstanding service from all areas--reception desk, wait staff, bartender, housekeeping, etc. Such a wonderful breakfast; great way to start the day. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again.

Very good”
The location was good, it was literally across the train station. If you have heavy luggage then you may need to reconsider as the only way to reach the hotel is to cross the bridge. We have two pieces of luggage and one is quite heavy. It was raining and eventually we have to engaged an illegal porter who approached us at the station at EUR 10 for each luggage. During check out, we asked for a public porter service which cost EUR 15 for two luggage.

Breakfast is very good. There are a lot of choices. I will be recommending your hotel to my friends and colleagues not only for your nice and comfortable rooms but also for your polite, helpful and attentive staffs. I'm looking forward to coming back at your hotel in the near future.

Dissatisfied with the room. The room was close to building renovation and noise from room next doo”
The room next to us was noisy which kept us up a lot. Disappointed that the internal wall so thin. Did not ave a good nights sleep. Also coffee at breakfast 🍳 s really terrible so they need to do something about it.

Only a 7 minute easy walk to the people mover - rooms overlooking the canal are noisy but for a one night stay this wasn't a problem .

Above average”
Felt the rooms were badly in need of an upgrade. We paid for a canal view room and felt that we were given the worst one it really was shabby and on the first floor so was quite noisy.. also the way they price there alcohol is very disappointing charged 16 euro for a bourbon and coke. 10 euro for the bourbon then another 6 euro for the coke. Overall would not stay there again very disappointed

Overpriced and tired hotel not 4 star”
Not 4 star very tired and facilities not up to standard. Small bedroom and bathroom like a cupboard and this was in a Canal front room. Absolutely overpriced.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly”
The location was fantastic. 4 minutes from the train station and right on the canal. The downstairs has been renovated, and looks fantastic but the rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade! The carpets, bathroom fixtures, linens, bed etc. has to be about 100 years old. The hand towels are thinner than table linens. I believe they are napkins. Come on Hotel Carlton, you can do better than that.

Great hotel in beautiful venice”
This hotel offered everything we needed. Booked a superior canal view room, which on luck of the draw we got a beautifully decorated but very small room, however that wasn't an issue for us. The view was fab, the beds and pillows were hard but that's a matter of personal preference. The aircon didn't work which in May isn't an issue but height of summer would be. Breakfast was very good. Despite same choice each day, there was plenty of it, hot food, pastries, cereal, ham and cheese, fruit, fruit juice and coffee. Staff were very good. Highlight of the hotel is the sky bar on the roof, fantastic way to relax after long sightseeing days. Location is very conveient, across from station with water bus stops and easy to find way back to in the maze of streets. Away from moise of San Marco but very convenient. Would stay again if in venice.

Small rooms no view”
I was initially part of a tour group of 16. All of our rooms looked out onto a concrete roof & wall. The beds & pillows were hard. As I was staying 5 nights I did manage to get an upgrade for 3 nights for an extra 60Euros a night, but I figured " whats the point of being on the Grande Canal if you can't see the Grande Canal?". The room I moved into was very small. Getting into the bathroom was tricky you could not open the door & then access the toilet, you had to open the door, step in move the door to get the access. The pillows were really hard & when I asked for soft pillows I was told "they are all the same". Staff at reception were unhelpful when it came to getting vaporetto tickets both for me & other people, they just had an aura of everything being too hard. The staff at the rooftop bar had no interest in serving us & drinks were poorly presented & very expensive.
