Carrobio had a fire so we were redirected to Regina hotel. We were told all fees and taxes were included in the price. Why did we have to pay extra taxes? Otherwise service good , comfortable bed, food good.
Good location, standard breakfast”
Staff were pleasant, and helpful, the breakfast was complete but not overly diverse. Nothing to do with staff...but don’t take foreign cash to Italy they ‘steal’ 20% at the exchange booths! Banks do not exchange cash! Do not use money changers on the street- they will steal all your money!! Bring Euros from elsewhere.
We only spent one night there on our way back to England”
The hotel is tired and the room was dated and cluttered. The bathroom had really old fittings. The write up is very misleading. For instance, (the vast buffet!) the breakfast buffet was very limited and there was music played loudly all over the hotel. We would not want to stay there again.
A Little Gem Central to Everything”
Elegant smaller hotel tucked into a side street. Location is quiet and convenient to everything. Would definitely stay there again.
Very friendly and helpful staff. We were able to make a same day booking when our airbnb reservation fell through. The hotel was clean and centrally located/within walking distance of public transportation and many restaurants even during the off-tourist season.
Really nice staff, hotel clean and in great location.”
This is NOT a 4 star hotel- breakfast is extra, fridges in the rooms don’t work, noisy hostel next door so you can’t leave the window open, no international tv channels ( only Italian language channels). However, we enjoyed our stay due to the location and staff ( very friendly and helpful)
Really nice stay, 5 mins walk to the cathedral and close to all major attraction”
Hotel is located in the center of milan, youth club is just outside the hotel with full of good crowd, with lot of shops and restaurants 1 min away, major attraction 5 mins away. For milan central station u need to walk 7 mins to take metro M and then 10 mins metro ride. Staff was really really friendly and rooms wer le super clean but rooms are little small.
Friendly and very helpful staff, great location downtown Milan with walking distance to town center. For a 4 stars hotel however rooms should be renovated to higher standards, in particular bathroom (at least in my room) was with very old features, small TV badly located on top of the cabinet, old carpet...
I booked 2 night in Carrobbio, 3 room for 5 people. Our 2 single room is really ok, but the room with 2 single bed is a little small for 2, but it's ok for all, include the location and the price, best price for this center. After booked, we had another plan in another city so I had to cancel Carrobbio. But when I phoned to Agoda to cancel the room (before the day I book), they said that no penny be back to me, I know that is the rules but feeling a little sad, and canceled 3 room in 2 night. After that, my plan changed once more, we still went to Milan in the 2nd day we booked hotel. Not to much hope, I directly phoned to Carrobio to get the room I canceled. Magic happened, the reception anwsered that If I payed money I keep getting that room although I canceled it before. It's really lucky for us. Thanks that reception guy so much <3 <3 <3
More than I expected!”
I didn't expect a lot because of the price I paid. But the room is very nice, although small. It has a balcony, a refrigerator and a good restroom. Breakfast was not included, but it was okay. Location is great because it is very near the shopping street and there is a train/bus stop very near it. Everything is walk able, but the train/bus stop helps when you had too much to walk and to shop!
Clean and nice”
+: the place itself was very close to everything we wanted to see, and close to rail lines. The place was beautiful and clean. -: the person checking us in would not talk to me, only my boyfriend, though I was the one who made the reservations. The others who eventually helped us were much more respectful, but the original person felt very sexist. The other issue was that the bed was king sized, but was actually two twins put together, so when we slept, there was also a hole in the middle. The internet was also spotty, and it was hard to get things done. Otherwise, everything was very nice and just what we wanted. The room was very beautiful, as was the lobby and community areas.
Great hotel, nice room. Recommend”
We stayed for one night from 28/01 till 29/01. Price was reduced for a standard room. When we arrived the staff proposed us deluxe room for the sale price. Don't know why or what the differences are. We enjoyed. Only little thing, but the receptionist told us, our room was located at the street side and there is a bar just under the window (second floor). A little noise till 24:00. For the rest we enjoyed our short stay at the hotel. Wifi, television and more free option in the room. We didn't took the breakfast their. 10€/person. We stopped a little bit further direction Navigli a beautiful milanese bakery. Good combination with the hotel because of the low price. 7€/2 coffees, 3 cornetto and a muffin. We will come back for both of establishments. :-)
Perfect for a city break”
Would recommend this hotel, as is very central, and in a lovely part of Milan, short walk to bars/restaurants & clubs. Staff are helpful and rooms are lovely. Got a fantastic deal and would recommend this if you are going for a short stay in Milan.
Must stay hotel”
Sadly I only stayed for 2 nights - it will be longer next time. The first person I met was Fabrizio who was a brilliant old time barman/waiter he welcomed me and seeing I was tired from travelling sat me down outside and brought me my first red wine. After that I actually registered and was given a choice of rooms but only needed to see the first as it was ideal. The room was spotless and very welcoming. The lady behind reception was a member of the family and could not be more helpful in providing me with excellent recommendations for restaurants and local sites to visit and actually marked them on a complementary map. These recommendations were better than I anticipated. To the front of the hotel is a fairy small seating area which was very comfortable and pleasant to sit and smoke. Leaving the hotel and turning left there is an excellent restaurant - The Top Hat - which, besides authentic Italian food also provides real American food which my US friends said was very good. After my US friends had left about midnight on the first night I spent 2 hours drinking and chatting with the family who own the hotel who told fascinating stories about the area and the history. The hotel had a superb collection of art and bric a brac to look at. As an Englishman the main thing is the breakfast - it was a huge selection of continental meats, cheese plus all the usual cereals etc. As I wanted to live the Italian life I did not want a Full English but was surprised to find that there was an excellent selection of home made preserves. The last person I met was Sami - the night porter who could not do enough to help - even making a pot of tea at 1.30 am! Overall I had a wonderful stay and recommend this place wholeheartedly I was genuinely sad to leave and as they have parking on site and are dog friendly I will return.
If you really just need a place to stay”
The location here is great. You are only about a 15 min walk to most of the places you want to go. They have a European breakfast buffet in the am for only 10 euros. The rooms come with an outdoor patio. The cons are that the rooms are a bit small, but that might just be standard in Milan. The walls are very thin, so you will hear everything your neighbors are saying and doing. The pipes in the bathroom are quite loud, so if your neighbors flush at night... I would plan on wearing earplugs if you are sensitive to that. The service is fair, we had one exceptional host and then never saw him again, the others were fair. Don't use the hotel safes, they are quite old and unreliable.
Old school hotel”
Not worth for 4 stars. Old school hotel but it's clean. 20 mins walk from train station if you are carrying your big luggages. They have lift facility but you still need to carry your luggages few stairs. My room that the ceiling was leaking and they can fix it.
at first we thought the hotel is tooooo old than what we saw, despite since 18xx. We got upgraded, thanks to the lady who was so kind to us as she saw we are couple travelling together. The location is on not far at all from the Shopping street and to walk to the other side, the River side. Unfortunately, at night the bar next to the hotel is loud and busy, with smokers... we couldn't open our back door. Continental breakfast, buffet, that they promoted,...was not really delish. Due to hard-to-chew bakeries, and not so many varieties of food. Though, overall we liked the hotel and the staff.
Not a 4 stars at all and not for non-smokers”
Location is amazing and staff very friendly as well. Main problem is the hotel itself. Rooms are for smokers and even though you don't smoke, the smoke from other rooms goes through the ventilation system. Also, wifi does not work on the room, something not clear when you book the room which says "free wifi" on it. When you check all hotels, you notice that Carrobio is too cheap compared to others in similar "categories" and you quite understand why after being there. I would not stay to this hotel again, because it is definitely not what they sell they are.
I stayed only one night and i found out i was bitten by bed bug. Now 3 spots of my left leg is swallen by the bit and this makes me uncomfortable during my whole trip. The staffs were not that kind except one staff, and the wifi was not working in the room. Location wasnt so good if you have to take the train, since you have to transfer from tram to subway, and then train. (If you have heavy luggage) The room size was so small, opening one small carriage will make no space to step, and your bathroom door can be opened after closing room door thoroughly. The water wasnt drawning well in the shower booth and sink, that makes you feel like taking shower in the tub... Though there's no tub. I think this hotel doesnt deserve 4 stars, it should be 3 stars.
Central location, but stern receptionists”
It is just for one night of my business visit. The receptionists are quite stern. Once I arrived, there was no greeting or inviting me to a welcome drinks (It is there on the counter but I am not invited to this self-service refreshment). All he cared is my passport details and check out date. The evening receptionist did not even acknowledge my presence when I wanted to leave the key. He simply said ''leave it on the counter'' which raises security concern. On my checkout time, the first receptionist said to me even before I reached the counter...''5 euro for tourist tax'' - no greeting no talking. He was also inhospitable to the other couple who want to know how to get to the airport early Sundaz. He said ''Today if Friday. I will tell you tomorrow or Suday.'' So I think this is just him. The security box in the room does not operate either. The noise from other guest rooms and the small garden can be annoying at times. BUT the porters are nice and friendly. It looks like a hotel from 80s which takes pride in its centrally located in the city of Milan. Close to Duomo and shopping attractions. It is good for a short stay indeed.
