Clean friendly hotel in good spot”
good location for both visiting singapore, as you are close to ciq and visiting johor bahru. to find the place from ciq (immigration)go down the escalator toward jalan abdul razak and walk up the hill under the raised road until you see a left turn....this is the hotel road. johur bahru is a paradise city for me as it seems that beer and curry are available everywhere anytime. very friendly staff, extremely clean, free internet, shops and cafe/restaurants very close if you don't want to cross through jb sentral to the main city and english premier league shown in restaurant opposite. excellent bed if you are in the mood for vigerous pumping activities.

Friendly, accommodating staff; strong wifi signal”
Prior to going to Hotel CIQ, I made my research of how the place looked like in Google maps and was not very impressed with the surroundings. It didn't look appealing and thought that I won't be getting my money's worth. But lo and behold, Hotel CIQ delivered the superb service without the pricey cost of a regular hotel. The room can fit 3 adults, 1 child. Wifi had strong signal in the room and gave us opportunity to download our pictures online right away at no cost. The bathroom was spacious, with hot-cold water. Complete standard amenities like electric kettle, Malaysian coffee, bottled water daily, clean towels and bed sheets, air conditioning was working at good condition, fridge and safe available. The staff were very accommodating and kudos to them for their immediate responses to our demands. The ambience outside was ok and safe. There is a nearby convenience store complete with stuff that you can buy at a very affordable price. 1L of bottled water that cost less than 1Ringgit compared to 7-11 that you can buy worth 3Ringgit. Bread, biscuit, drinks hot cold available until midnight. The hotel is 10mins away by cab from their famous shopping malls like JB City Square and KSL, while less than 30mins taxi from Legoland. Had a nice stay in Johor Bahru and thanks to this Hotel for the pleasant accommodations given to us. 2 thumbs up!!!

Comfortable and convenient”
Hotel CIQ is located in the city. Just a walking distance to City Square Mall, Kota Raya Bus Station and Malaysia Immigration. Those who want to travel to Singapore but prefer to stay in Johor Bharu, Hotel CIQ is one of the good budget hotels. The staffs in CIQ are friendly and willing to help. The room condition is clean and comfortable. Air-conditioner and toilet are functioning well. Toilet, bed sheets and towels are clean. The room is appropriately equipped with safety box for travelers, electronic kettle, water jar, and cups for coffee making. Two coffee and tea sachets are provided too for each day. You may boil water and cool it down before keep in the jar. There are shops too just opposite the hotel. Travelers can easily access to the grocery stores for basic necessities such as mineral water, soap, shampoo, snacks and etc. There are chinese restaurants too open from late noon till midnight with affordable price for varieties of fried noodles. There is a restaurant with minor decoration and clean ( a lil bit like Taiwan style), which open in the morning until 3pm, serves very nice curry fish head. Worth to try! The vicinity of the hotel does look a bit dark as the street is brighten only with yellow lights. For single travelers, you might need to practice more cautions but if you go in a group, it is safer.

Value for Money but 10 min walk to City Square”
I was looking for a hotel near City Square (Johor Bahru) for 3D2N during the X'mas period and came across Hotel CIQ via Agoda. I was quite pleased with the stay. Other than the fact that it is a 10 minutes walk to the nearest shopping mall (City Square), the stay was pretty alright given the price I paid for which is approximately 90RM per night and considering it to be during the peak period of X'mas. The showering does come along with heater. They did not have minibar but I didn't need that either. The day before I check out, my luggage torn (maybe due to too much shopping), and the staff kindly got me a masking tape to get the hole stitch. Not for the picky, but this hotel is definitely worth every penny I paid for. Cheers~

clean, comfortable, affordable”
In my previous review of the same trip I mentioned some info is missing from agoda when I booked but a phone call tobthe hotel cleared my doubts. For the benefit of others, Hotel CIQ Johor Baharu hotel rooms are like this: Standard - single bed Superior - double bed Deluxe - one single bed one double bed Family room - two double beds Booked one superior and one deluxe room as the family room was fully booked as it was the year end school holidays. Rooms were clean. Newly renovated. Lift/elevator was new and uses touch screen buttons. Confortable pillows and mattress. Toiletries bare minimal and only 200/250ml of water in a sealed cup provided. Bring your own hair dryer and toothpaste/toothbrush but there are at least 3 sundry/convenience stores nearby and on either sides of the hotel like a few steps away selling all yr necessities and bread, snacks etc. A stone's throw from restaurants, Chinese or Muslim food available at nearby restaurant/shops. In room internet erratic. Fast enough but my devices kept getting disconnected. Overall value for money for the size.

Comfortable but could be better.”
I had a pleasant stay in CIQ Hotel for 6 nights but I was quite grossed out by the state of their stained bedsheets, pillow cases and comforter covers (even though they smelled rather clean). Once, I came back to a rather worn out bed sheet with a rip that was carefully sewn. It also has a medium sized yellow stain patch. Fortunately the bed sheet was changed immediately after I alerted the receptionist. The room was only supplied with bath towels, hand towels, floor towel, small bin, shampoo and toilet paper. I had to grab all the other toiletries by myself. I don't really know how those stars were awarded but I assumed it was only common to supply basic toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, conditioner). The room was also rather stuffy because there were no windows so I had to leave the toilet ventilator on constantly. Although the descriptions stated "cable tv", I could only watch Fox Movies Premium and National Geographic (which kept showing fishing documentaries and occasionally other documentaries). Out of 10 channels, I could only watch 2 channels because all the other channels were either fuzzy or completely distorted. Overall, I'm impressed with their internet speed and got the most out of my money's worth. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is travelling on a budget. Oh, there's two indian shops that sells prata and one chinese hawker restaurant opposite the hotel. But, you could always walk 3-5mins to City Square Mall Johor Bahru for food.

Great hotel to stay, super close to the CIQ (the custom's building)”
The hotel is easy to locate (I used waze and I found the hotel, and it was at night time). Check in and check out was super fast like the flash (I have to pay RM100 for security deposit but it was refundable so no biggies). The staff are friendly, the room was big enough for a person, bed was comfy, the hot shower was nice (basically the toilet was clean), I like the small shampoo bottle, they smell good. Internet is good, I can stream, no lagging. No breakfast provided but I can buy food from restaurants in front of the hotel (there is a convenient store too, lots of restaurants, chinese, malays, mamak, you name it). And one thing I love is, it was super close to the CIQ (the custom complex, where you need to get your passport check and take bus to Singapore), like 10 minutes walking. Basically I am satisfied with this hotel, I stayed for 2 nights, business trip to Singapore. However, I wish that no flower pots in the room because they are dirty, it was fake flowers but still dirty, dusty. Otherwise, I have no issues with this hotel. Good for solo traveler..

we had a great stay in CIQ hotel”
we had a great stay in CIQ hotel. The room was clean and big enough. There is computer downstairs which we can use. Hotel is near at ciq. I think walk for about 15 minutes. If you got big luggage, it is better to take a cab. Nothing much in the hotel surrounding. mini mart owned by local at the opposite of the hotel and got 1 Chinese restaurant which is pretty good.

Fine for transit ”
Just stayed over for one night to join my friends for Countdown of New Year. CIQ Hotel is within a 10-minute drive from Stulang Beach and the Duty Free Zone at City Square(but is not safe if you are alone to walk there, just get the reception to make a call for taxi and is just a few ringgits only. The small little clean room with a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi access(but working slow). Fitted with tiled floors, room at CIQ are equipped with air conditioning and a private bathroom with sample toiletries,a electric tea kettle with instant coffee/tea bag. The hotel has a front desk that is open 24/7. If you drive can park on the hotel premises for free. The is 2 local mini mart and local eatery just opposite the hotel. My room is a single room therefore is just good for 1 person cos the room is really small. But is fine with me for just one night, and air con work well but not the water heater. I like the quiet surrounding for a good sleep.

Very satisfied with the hotel performance”
My first impression when arrived infront of the hotel is blur. The location is quite confused because there is another ciq hotel in the first junction (before the flyover). The room is big for a budget hotel, the toilet is clean, aircond is working very well and there is a private carpark for the visitor and been supervise by a security. Thumbs up for that service. Overall i will give 5stars for this budget hotel and of course will come again and will recommend this hotel to my friends.

Good price for short stay close to the CIQ”
Close by to the Woodlands CIQ but is a bit of a troublesome walk as it’s around the back door area of the CIQ, not far enough to quantify a taxi ride though. Room and bath area was decent and clean. Rooms aren’t extremely soundproof so hope you don’t have noisy neighbors at nights. Getting out to the shopping/eating areas will involve taking a taxi (better to use a booking app instead of trying to flag one down since the road the hotel is on has pretty much no traffic) Good for a night or two stay if you’re crossing between SG and JB.

clean, no hassles, no frills, comfort on budget”
The hotel is newly renovated with a high tech lift/elevator. Even though it is a budget city hotel at a row of shop houses the interior is fine with a suitable ambience for business tracellers and family alike. We travelled with our baby under age 1 and the deluxe room has bed enough for three persons - a double bed and a sungle bed, info direly missing in agoda. Staff was responsive. Called before checkin to request for both my rooms to be on the same floor and I got both rooms not only on the same floor but on the same side and corner. The only thing is you need to bring most of your toiletries because all they provide are toilet papers, bath towels a floor towel, packets of shampoo and small soap. And complimemtary mineral/drinking water in a cup (200ml). Flask is available and complimentary tea/coffee were given. This hotel has no restaurant, no breakfast with room. Just a walk across and there is a famous wantan dumpling noodles (non halal) that opens mornings. Musli food easily available too. Single - one single bed, standard - one queen bed, deluxe - one queen bed and one single bed, family room two double beds. Hope this review helps answer the missing info on agoda. Internet is erratic. Fast enough but my devices kept getting disconnected from the wifi. Clean and comfortable rooms with a wall-mounted flat screen tv. Limited packing space in front of hotel with guard on duty 24/7

Budget hotel, Good value for money. ”
It is a budget hotel about 5-10 mins walks from CIQ (the location is not very good, but it is kinda convenient if you want to stay near CIQ, for example for traveling to Singapore). The facilities are basic, but are considered good for a 1-star hotel in Johor. Better than what I expected. The internet connection was good and fast. I will definitely consider staying in this hotel again of I am on a budget trip to JB.

It is a great stay, will stay there again.”
It was great. More than we expected. The staffs are polite, the room is larger than we expected (considering that previously we also stay in a budget hotel in johor bahru and the room was very small), the internet is quite fast. Although the room has no window, overall it is comfortable. It is good for 1-2 days stay.

Good budget hotel in JB”
Great for a budget hotel compared to similar budget hotels in JB. Staff were attentive to my complaints (air conditioning was a bit noisy) which was fixed the next day. Comfortable, clean rooms, hot shower, and wifi speed was okay at night, but a bit slow during the day. Location was close to nice food stalls and the main landmark in that area the JB CIQ (Customs checkpoint going to Singapore)

Excellent”
The CIQ hotel cheated me 10.60myr. First, they told me check out time is 1pm. I checked out at 1.08pm, which is only 8 minutes late, and they charged me 10.60myr for that. Then they told me that check out time is actually 12nn, and that they have extended 1 hour for me already. But that WAS NOT told to me the day l checked in. I was only informed that check out time is 1pm and that's it. I was told nothing more. They cheated me an hour fee of 10.60myr when l was only 8 minutes late on check out. They also didn't tell me that there will be late check out fee if l check out later than 1pm. They're nothing but cheater. They're robbers and thieves. If l can afford a lawyer, l will sue the CIQ hotel and the big fat ugly manager who cheated me the 10.60 myr

Good Location for budget business traveller”
I had booked accommodation for one week through Agoda.com. I had to go to KL for three days and return to JB. The front desk of CIQ hotel took the matter with AGODA, and my reservation was postponed. Thanks, fo CIQ staff. Though Agoda's policy is cancellation / postponement, 100% cancellation charges.
