Fantastic location,VERY friendly staff,clean”
Hotel Columbus in Rome is a great hotel, former monastery, with very large rooms. The one we used had a beautiful view over basilica St.Pietro and main street leading to basilica. The staff is very friendly, always so attentive and kind. Rooms have fridge, aircon, big wardrobe, beauty desk, safe, side tables and comfortable beds.High speed Internet is provided for free in rooms. I noticed in wardobe they provide extra pillows and additional duvet of high quality. From the windows guests have views on the main street with basilica and some have views on the garden in central part of hotel. Although my room had a view over the noisy street, once you close the window you will not be affected by car noise. Bathroom was large too with all necessary amenities. Hotel has its oven parking lot which is very rare in Rome. Its hight class hotel with fantastic location and wonderful staff and for sure I would stay again in Columbus. In front of hotel on the left you have very good typical Italian bar (next door to pizza place) where you can have very tasty sandwiches, sweets, very good ice cream, all kinds of drinks for a very good price! Its highly recommend and you will save the money! Bus stop for sightseeing busses is 150m away from hotel. Hotel is in walking distance to many attractions, including Piazza Navona (15 min), Fontana di Trevi, Spanish steps, Piazza Venezia (30 min)...

Relationship on the Agoda Hotel of Rome”
In the Columbus hotel in Rome I spent a good time; the staff was very kind and on hand, breakfast was copious and tasty, the room was clean, spacious and comfortable but, and this is the only negative observation, it was not lighted enough.

Fabulous Location, Fabulous Price!”
What a gem this is right outside St Peter's square!! The price was fantastic and the location couldn't be beat. An added bonus of secure on site parking lot made this hotel one we will use every time we are in Rome. The staff was super helpful and pleasant. The room we had was very basic...we would have liked a more comfortable bed and better pillows. The shower stall was very small and we commented that we were lucky weren't oversized people or we would not have fit in it! We did choose the lowest category of room, which was certainly not the fault of the hotel, and will upgrade to a higher level or room on our next visit. The room was spotless as was the bathroom and the housekeeping staff was great! Truly a fabulous find and we will return for sure!!!

Nice place but air conditioning needs help ”
We enjoyed our 1st stay at the Hotel Columbus - when the weather was just right. We returned to find Rome in the 90's. The air conditioning for americans is a problem - it is only on from 1-4 pm and 10 pm -3 am. This is an old monastery and it gets very warm, especially on the upper floors. Multiple guests requested additional penguin units to cope with the heat. The staff is friendly but a little overwhelmed. We called for bag pick up (elevator was not working) and after 3rd call we carried the bags down ourselves. The bell hop showed up when we got to the main floor.

Minutes walk to St Peters”
The hotel was conveniently located. You are able to see St Peters at Vatican City from the entrance of the hotel. There are hop on hop off bus stops across the road from the hotel. There are plenty of shops and restuarants around the hotel. The hotel staff spoke english, were really professional and knowleadgeable. The hotel and rooms were clean and tidy but were quite old and dated. The lift has a maximum capacity of 4 people. No free wifi. There are computers at the lobby which can be used for a charge. You are also able to hire Ipads with wifi connectivity from the reception. The closest metro station is a good 15-20 walk.

lovely old building in a great location”
the columbus is a litle tired but it was ok, the room could have ben a bit cleaner, there was some blood on the wall which was cleaned off about 2 days into the stay. the hotel is situated in a beutiful old building right outside st. peter's and it's only a 10 min walk over the river to where all the best bars and restaurants are. we were told that the air conditioning wouldn't be turned on for a couple more weeks despite the fact it was 28 degrees so sleeping was a little uncomfortable though we tried to use the unit as a fan but the rattle it made was unbearable. all in all though i thought based on location and the building the columbus was good vallue for money, if it hadn't been a little tired it would probably have been ouside my price bracket

Fantastic location”
Our stay at the Hotel Columbus was really good. I was only disappointed in the breakfasts. At 60 euros for 4 of us, I would have expected decent coffee. It perhaps shouldn't be so important to me to have a good coffee in the mornings, but it is! In Italy too!

Hotel Columbus Rome”
The hotel is a beautiful old monastery and the location is superb, 50 feet from the vatican and very quiet and relaxing. A beautiful garden to have breakfast in or wind down after a days touring. The staff were really helpful and had a great knowledge of any questions about the area. The air conditioning was not great and though I had it up full the room was still very warm. The room was kept spotlessly clean with fresh towels every day. I ordered a bottle of water one evening and was charged €6.50 for it so I was reluctant to go to the bar again. The positives outwayed the negatives and if this hotel was modernised and updated I would return again and again.

Hotel Columbus-Roma”
The hotel is located in an ideal location for visitors to the Vatican. It is literally on the doorstep of St. Peter's Square. Many other spots (Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trestevere) are only a ten to twenty minute walk away. The La Veranda restaurant is a hidden gem. Breakfast was adequate. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is in need of refurbishment. It was clean, but worn. Internet access is extra and can only be accessed int he lobby of the hotel, despite the fact that it is advertised as being available in every room. The room that I stayed in had only a bath, and no shower. Breakfast could have some more items. If you are looking for a basic, clean room, this hotel will fit the bill. If you are looking for a bit of luxury, then look elsewhere. Not recommended for a business traveller. Tourists may be happy with it.

Excellent location, old utilities ”
It's right in front of St Peter's Square, very convenient for visiting the Vatican Museum and other sites. We opted for hotel's history and architectural style at the expense of modern conveniences. So we came prepared for some mishaps and older deco and furnishings. The toilet is tricky and sometimes doesn't stop running. On our last night, there was no hot water and it was not yet fixed by the time we checked out at 10am. All hotels have to collect taxes on behalf of the city, but the 6€ per person per night fee was not included in the price quote I got when I booked the room.

Nicely located hotel”
We stayed at Columbus for one night, as we were at a wedding in the same hotel; The location is really impressive, just next door the Vatican; but the hotel itself is not really worth 4* and it is pricey for what it offers:the rooms are really basic, though normally sized, there was no even a normal window in our room, just a tiny one, so it was difficult to breath...

Good if luggage is kept in station or airport”
1. Far from train station with much cobbled stones in the way. Horrid for luggage. 2. Near Vatican city. Less than 5 minutes to St Peter's square. 3. Wifi isn't stable and password is hard to remember. Iphone had trouble connecting.4 4. Receipt is compulsory. If there is printed trouble you might have to wait a while. Check out earlier. 5. Breakfast wasn't anything grand. 6. Restaurant has a courtyard. 7. Good for artsy people. Paintings, vintage furniture, etc in the common areas. 8. Elevator is built for 2 persons with luggage. 9. Aircon wasn't working? Or I didn't know how to handle it.

Descently priced hotel in centrally located ”
The price offered by agoda is of very good value. Check in at hotel was rather slow as the receptionist took 20min to find our reservation, even tough we brought the agoda voucher. The hotel room was larger than expected, but with fairly old but clean interior. The location is great, 200m from St.Peter`s square. Would stay at the hotel again, as the price offered to us was value for money.

Best location in Rome”
Location so close to the Vatican and nice restaurants and shops is important to us. We got a great rate through Agoda and saved money on taxis. We like the fact that the hotel is in a classic old building.

JC”
This hotel is very convenient for the basilica. It was a great stay for the Easter sunday mass. We heard the bells ringing and there is also a church nearby (just at the back of the hotel). I will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Review”
Enjoyed it very much.I would not rate as four star. Room was "tired". Showering facility was quite bad. No shower curtain. Have to sit in bath to have a shower. Breakfast skimpy. One day eggs not served at all. No cooked eggs. We tended to have late breakfast and coffee was usually cold.I would stay again and have in fact booked.

It was like a camping trip, no extras, like heat. ”
We had no heat and a funny smell like sewer in the room. The hotel seemed worn out and dirty. When we asked about the heat, they said "it seems to be a problem", I asked what they were going to do about it, they did send a space heater. the night before our stay at the Hotel Columbus, it was very nice, had breakfast, up-dated rooms and was clean. We will go back to the on our next visit and will tell others not to stay at the Hotel Columbus. There are too many nice places to stay within the same area to go back. Up dates to the carpet and furniture are needed to the Hotel Columbus, it is doable with the amount of people using it. Clean it up. There was no breakfast available or reasonable food choices.

Good”
Staff were great.Hotel location was good.Your advertisement showed air cond. but they only have it in"the summer"June to October"They have internet but it dosn't reach all rooms well enough to use.The hotel does not seem to be kept up very well.I found your description of the hotel to be inaccurate and very misleading.I don't believe that I would recommend your services to anyone if that is the best that you check your facts
