Sitting in a prime location, the hotel is just a few steps from Puerta del Sol. In the heart of Madrid, guests can enjoy sightseeing to the fullest with all the famous attractions nearby such as Plaza Mayor, the Prado Museum, and Madrid de los Austrias - the old center of Madrid. Taking only three minutes to Sol metro station and five minutes to Atocha train station, guests can access the rest of the city and come back to the hotel with no difficulties. The hotel offers spacious, yet cozy rooms, as well as a bar to relax in and refresh after a long day sightseeing. If you are in Madrid on a budget, then Hotel Cortezo sure has what you are looking for.
"Very strategic location."

Additional charge for kid”
When I booked this hotel, it allowed me to book a double room for 2 adults and 1 eleven-year old kid. When I arrived at the hotel, they asked me to pay more 40 Eur for my kid. Please be careful. If I have to pay more 40 Eur for a kid, I have many choices. I checked they revised the system and I cannot select a double room now. I think it's not fair that they set the system wrongly but I paid for it! :'' (
Nice Hotel with cozy staffs”
The location of hotel is perfect, very near to Sol plaza. We requested print service, and the front staff helped us very friendly. Clean room with all the safety preserved. I would like to re visit this hotel if i come back to madrid.
Very strategic location. Close to the Sol and Metro. It's easy to go everywhere. The price is quite reasonable. Very friendly and helpful staff. I am usually rather fussy with food stuff, but in this hotel it turns out beside Halal Kebab. The breakfast diverse and nutritious food.
Nice hotel with many good food nearby”
The hotel itself is nicely decorated with very comfortable room and big size. It is close to many good local restaurants serving Spanish food. And it is close to subway station. Thus overall this hotel is pretty recommended.
The location of the hotel was fantastic. It's within walking distance to Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor. The hotel has a extremely friendly staff (exept the kitchen help - kind of got off on the wrong foot with her). My friend and I stayed in a twin room and I must say it was nothing like what you see in the pictures. It was a really dark room with one window looking out to the centre of the building - no view/no light (perhaps make sure you don't stay on the 1st floor). Also the walls are fairly thin so you can hear everything that's going on above, below and beside your room. All in all I would difinitely stay at this hotel again!
Not value for money”
The facilities are too old
Cons: -tiny rooms, bathroom needs a renovation ASAP -no daylight at all, terrible small lamps, we felt like vampires -paperthin walls, if we understand spanish we would understand every single word of our neighbours converstation plus the TV -the worst view I’ve ever seen.. we’ve had a view on an old iron stairs and other proples rooms, pictures on the net are much nicer than the reality is -our water tap broken, blowdryer didn’t work at all, we couldn’t close our bathroom door -staff were kinda unfriendly but pretty helpful atleast -elevator is pretty slow Pros: -great location -great wifi -comfortable bed but that is individual -terrace view is nice.. I’ve definitely seen better but it is not bad -mini bar Overall: I would definitely choose another hotel next time, it is more like a 2 star hotel, some hostels probably look better
Overall the hotel was good especially the ideal location. Two basic items were lacking though: - wifi hardly worked - no metro maps available Solve the above two items & it would be an excellent hotel given the rating & location.
Walking distnace to sol”
The hotel is in a great location only a few minutes away from Sol. The only thing was the room we stayed in was unnaturally hot compared to the hallway and outside and this was in late October (late autumn). The aircon did not work either and the front staff said it couldn't be fixed. So we were laying there sweating like pigs struggling the get a good night's sleep!
Modest hotel in midst of city center activity.”
I extended my stay because convenient location and reasonable price. Older hotel, but clean and well maintained. Staff speak English. Cinema across the narrow street. Places to eat in all directions around hotel.
Quiet stay in the centre of Madrid”
I really enjoyed staying here as it was walking distance to all major attractions. Since I care about the noise in my room, this hotel gave me a great sleep at night. The room is modern and clean. Only thing I wish I could've had is the better mattress in bed (and the size is a bit small for me). Anyways, it was a comfortable stay after all.
One night in Madrid”
The staff are friendly and the check in and check out was quick and easy, they also valet park your car. Rooms are a bit on the small side but then it is in the city centre. Rooms are also a bit tired and old especially the bathroom and ideally needs a bit of updating. The roof top terrace has some fantastic views across Madrid and well worth going p for
Clean, convenient area for access to most areas”
Pleasant stay in the junior suite on 5th level facing the back so it's quiet. Only gripe is that the suite doesn't have a electric kettle for me to make coffee or hot drink. But we managed to buy one from a chinese convenience store on the street downstairs easily for $7. We travel by metro all the time from the nearest metro station Tirso De Molina as we bought a 3 day pass at the airport. We also bought a local SIM card (with 1gb data Internet & local call available) cost 15euro + 5euro top up from a electronic shop call "Crystal Media" at airport at the departure level.
Nice hotel but slow wifi”
The hotel was tastefully designed and our room was clean and nice. The hotel is about 15 to 20 minutes away from the Prado museum on foot. The wifi was pretty slow and disconnected at times. The buffet breakfast at the hotel cost 10 euros each and the spread was not that big but the food was nice enough! There is a nice room beside the breakfast area where guests can lounge in with huge sofas!
Out of expectation!”
This hotel is really out of my expectation. I was surprise of the service and the hotel facilities. Honestly the hotel is quite cheap, I didnt expect too much, but then I realised the hotel located in just perfect downtown location, walking distance to a lot of sightseeing spots and shopping area. small but very cozy room. I'll definitely recommand this hotel if budget is limited.
Great Location, friendly helpfull stuff”
i enjoy my stay at the medium cortezo hotel, it is cheap enough to stay there for all the things you want to see in madrid. it's near all the major tourist attractions. very clean rooms, good working aircons, a hairdryer which works wonderful and a free wifi computer room to use. the staff were very friendly and good english speaking people. they don't hesitate to help with transport to the airport which were cheaper than taxi's. they were very helpfull to provide a map with all the tourist attractions on, and even mark all of them to make the route planning easier. i will for sure stay again at the medium cortezo hotel in madrid.
value for money, clean room”
happy that upon checking in, the guy at front desk spoke very good english and was very helpful although the succeeding ones were not as good. the room is not spacious but not cramped and facilities were adequate. the bathroom is a bit small but adequate. location is very near puerto del sol so lots of shopping and dining places nearby.
Nice hotel with good service & nearby attractions”
had an enjoyable stay over here. front staff could speak good english and helped us out in informing us on the attractions in madrid. plenty of food options just around the corner. 24hr convienence store just a 2min walk ahead. breakfast was good and enough to fill us up so we skipped lunch. mcdonalds is near puetra del sol for those want something familiar.
Good Location and fast wifi.”
my husband and i opted for two separate beds because according to the receptionist the rooms with bigger beds are located near the theather which can be noisy at night. the room and the bathroom is clean. we had a good stay here and i noticed that its one of the good hotels in the area.
Lovely Hotel.. Nice location”
I liked the Location and it was pretty comfortable for my Business Trip and important to say is, it is near to the Train Station, which is very comfortable for travelling inside city. Although the rooms were not very big, but it was ok for me as i went alone and i come back to hotel only to sleep after my meetings. I Suggest this Hotel to the Business Trip persons like me.
