It is a decent budget hotel
I had no major issues with the hotel other than the lack of a bidet in the bathroom. Price was OK, not really cheap but i booked during the peak of a festive holiday, so higher prices was to be expected. The bed was surprisingly quite comfortable, the room is pretty big though the furnishings are old and dated. All in all, i was satisfied and will return whenever i visit Parit Buntar.

Good Enough for a One Night Stay
My first impression was "This place is so old and run-down." The rooms reek of sweat, the bathroom tiles weren't clean and the shower head was faulty. I was sure I saw a no smoking sign on the room door but on the coffee table was an ashtray conveniently placed. Sitting at the coffee table, my eyes picked out clear burnt marks on the aged carpet. Good for just one night, what more in a town where one does not really need to spend the night in. There isn't really competition as the other hotels in the area are either walk-in inns used by lonely men, or the new hotel that costs at least RM160 per night. Only plus points I can think of would be the car park area provided, and friendly staff at the front desk.

Not a bad place for a night stay
Cleanliness is a bit disappointing for the price because the room is a bit old and with carpet. Bed is comfortable, water pressure for shower is good, but overall a bit too old, a renovation might be needed or at least remove the carpet that seems to be there forever.

Good hotel
Damai Hotel is the best for its price that I've encountered anywhere in Malaysia. Fyi, I' ve stayed in all but one of the states on Malaysia for more than 20 years. The room I had was spacious and clean. There was an electric kettle, two bottles of drinking water, coffee sachets, two saucers but only one cup! The bath towels were in good condition and so were the furnishing and floor and wall tiles. The hotel operates a cafeteria but it opens only from 10.00am. The nearest food outlet open in the morning was a coffeeshop about 150m away. A railway track cuts the town in two and it's not possible to just walk across the track which is fenced up. There are two overpasses to drive from one side to the other. Those on foot have to climb a steep flight of stairs (56 to 58 steps) on one of the three crossings I saw, one of which is just beside the hotel. Most of the commercial enterprises are on the east side of the railway track. The west side, where Hotel Damai is located, is mainly residential. The west side has a modern hypermarket and shopping mall about a kilometre from the hotel. The express bus terminal is on the east side while the train station can only be accessed from the west side.
