Excellent location and very comfortable”

i was very happy with my stay at hotel de doelen, had a room at the back with a nice bathroom. secondary windows meant silence and good sleeps. staff v. helpful & pleasant. location unbeatable: on main square with bus stops right outside, also walking distance to train station, bike park in square too.

Beautiful and Historical Hotel”

First time stayed in this hotel. Building interior is very beautiful . Great location in central Groningen. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfort. So many resto and pub surronding, a nice place to stayed. Will stayed again in next visit

Great location”

Stayed for one night to explore the city of Groningen. Hotel is 10 min walking from central station and perfectly located on the city's main square. Only negative was that the hotel's wifi wasn't working.

Best location”

Old building, clean room. Comfortable bed, large room. Centrally located in the city centre, walking distance to many photo spot. Restaurants & bars arround the corners. No carpark in the hotel, must walk about 500m to some car parks.

great location, friendly staff, comfortable stay”

We came to the hotel by car and did not know whether to park our car. The hotel staff had save us from being ripped off by a parking gara nearby and provide us access to even closer but much cheapter gara. The hotel is cleane, comfortable and very characteristic. A very good place if you want to enjoy Gronningen in its classic and relax atmosphere

We had to wait for the room to be cleaned after arrival, but they cleaned it thoroughly. The hotel is situated at a central location, and on saturday night people were partying until morning. The room was large with a desk and a table, spacious bathroom with tube and shower. We have not eaten there, so I cannot tell the quality of the food. Internet connection over Wifi was quite fast, but they were filtering the outbound traffic: only websites (http port 80, https port 443) could be reached, other ports were denied. VoIP services like Teamspeak 3 could not be used, online games neither. This could not be resolved with staff. It was an unnecessary measure because the bandwidth was very high, and I have never experienced such limitation before in other places.

Ideal location - but don't come by car”

We had quite an enjoyable stay for the reasons mentioned above, especially because everything in the city is within walking distance. A really negative aspect - but most likely beyond the control of the hotel - is the fact that you don't stand a chance to get close to the hotel by car, because of the city's traffic regulations, which are strange - to put it mildly. There is a multi-storey carpark about 500 m away, but you only find out about it, when you have finally reached the hotel. The interior (especially the rooms) is a bit faded. And don't open a window (they open to the inside) to enjoy the view better. The last cleaning must have occurred a (very) long time ago, so your clothes get dirty.

Great location and a great place”

I stayed 2 nights travelling to see a band. It's a great place and nice that it has it's own character - not part of a chain of hotels. I'd stay again.

Very central”

The hotel was well situated. It was not convenient if one has a car as you have to park several blocks away and carry your luggage from there. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful.

Awesome location, everything close by!”

Stay was okay and great staff. Room was super small, but the location makes up for it, but ask for a room in the back and on a higher floor for some additional comfort.

Slightly disappointed”

Start is on the wrong foot, with a climb up 10 steep stairs to the entrance. In an excellent location, but hotel needs a thorough makeover and the dirty marks on bathroom floor not removed over my 3-day stay. Room stuffy. Breakfast unimaginative: 'bread' meant plain sliced variety, with no nice rolls and poor, soggy croissants. No need to apologise for lack of car parking, as hotel burb does - traffic free is a bonus in a city centre.
