The rooms that we booked are more or less the legacy of the classical European hotel architecture, which is quite new for us.

The grand and impeccable Hotel De France is a high class choice at great prices, right on the Ringstrasse in downtown Vienna. The location takes the time and trouble out of sightseeing, being within walking distance of St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Hofburg, State Opera, and the central business district. A full range of accommodation, from standard rooms right up to maisonettes and palatial suites, provides the ultimate in comfort and has plentiful amenities including satellite TV and complimentary broadband internet. Expect to find everything a luxury hotel can offer, including two stylish and delicious restaurants covering light continental dishes and Japanese cuisine, plus a friendly cocktail bar.

Great stay at the Hotel De France”
Great Stay at Hotel De France. Location perfect on the Vienna Ring. Tram stops outside hotel. Breakfast bountiful of variety of foods and drink. Room was lovely and overlooked the ring. Staff friendly and very good customer service. It was our Anniversary and had a lovely letter and ice bucket with wine from Reception. Highly recommend. Will return.
A reasonable priced 5 star hotel in Vienna”
The one thing I like the best of Hotel de France is it's location on Schottenring. It's within walking distance to most of the tourist attraction in Vienna. The hotel is also reasonable priced for a 5 star hotel. The room is spacious, clean, nicely decorated). The one thing I don't like in the room is that the King sized matress is actually 2 mattress that are joined together (not sure if this is the case in all rooms).
Quaint Hotel in Beautiful City of Vienna”
This is an excellent hotel that is about 15 mins slow walk away from Hofburg Palace and the center of all things in Vienna. Designed from an earlier era, the hotel feels fit for a romantic (but not posh) movie setting in the 1950s. Well maintained and staffed by an excellent team, the service is polite and prompt. The rooms are huge (by EU standards) and spacious, with the bathrooms being the size of some budget French hotel rooms, suffice to say. Earnestly recommended as part of a wonderful Vienna stay.
Lovely hotel in a great location”
This hotel represented great value for money. Rooms are clean, generously sized and well appointed. Staff obliging and pleasant. Hotel is located within walking distance of most Vienna attractions, but tram stop and underground station are across the road for those less energetic. Thoroughly enjoyed my staf at this hotel.
Nice location”
good location and free wifi but daily need to get a new password from the front desk. mini bar is included in the price with daily refill once. but overall, vienna transport system is very good. as long as you stay near any u-bahn station will be be fine. the toilet is huge but i would prefer they use the space for the room instead.
A classic European Hotel”
In Vienna, if you're staying at any spot on Ringstrasse, you're fine. The hotel is minutes from Schottentor Hub Station, allowing you enough choices to travel around the city. The front house staff were superb and friendly. The breakfast was exceptional. The rooms that we booked are more or less the legacy of the classical European hotel architecture, which is quite new for us. There are lamps over the bed, one of them didn't work and we were afraid not to rise so quickly out of bed. The television was a thick, ancient, late 20th Century one. The toilet is a truely classic one; marble with old luxurious items. They might need to get rid of the toilet itself as it could come across as not so sanitary.
Excellent location”
Hotel is perfectly located to walk anywhere in the inner city. Close to tram, u lines and bus if you prefer transit options. Breakfast had many food choices. Room was nice, air conditionned, with tub/shower.
Fantastic hotel, everything was perfect”
I got a really great deal through Agoda so I received a lot of luxury for a very cheap price! The room was huge and luxurious. The staff were really helpful, even scanning and emailing some documents that I needed to send through. I used the fitness centre too... Which was a bonus. Finally, the location. Was just right. it's on the Ring so everything is easily accessible and the metro is outside the door.
Wonderful charming Vienna”
Very very comfortable, excellent breakfast. Will stay tree again when back in Vienna and will recommend this hotel to other friends.
Excellent value hotel”
Our room was very spacious and beautifully deocrated. There were comfortable seats and ample storage space. The ensuite was large. A minibar is included in the room price and is refilled daily. Everything in the room was spotless. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the use of complimentary umbrellas was very much appreciated on a couple of occasions. The hotel is ideally located for public transport and sight seeing is also within easy walking distance.
Good”
I had some problems on the night I arrived; however, Mr. Lung, the front desk manager, took care of it all on the following morning. I must say this was a very pleasant service I would remember for a very long time. The location was great, close to public transport (easy to get around the city). As Vienna is very safe, we walked around the hotel late at night and early in the morning. Its breakfast buffet was good, and the staff members were very kind and attentive.
Good location but that is all!”
Hotel is very good located but I guess that's the only reason why you pay such a high price. Quite expensive parking lot though! Be aware of it and don't bring your car there. There is nothing special than any other hotel with less stars couldn't offer. The internet password must be renewed every day, this is definitely not practical at all. Breakfast was not good so I'd recommend not buying it and having breakfast in another coffee shop around. There are many options. Toilet and shower in different places in the same room, we didn't like that. Some of the employees at the reception work real slow and it looked like they didn't know what they were doing. On the other hand, there were some other employees that could handle the guests in a very good response time. Well, it won't be my first choice next time I visit Vienna and I am definitely coming back to that city. It is indeed an amazing city!
excenlance hotel In the center ”
We were on our Honeymoon in this hotel . the hotel was lovely and spacious, very clean and very ornate. there was a nice shop and a good friendly bar area. the hotel room was super comfortable. the bathroom was lovely and big. and also we had complimentary minibar. The staffs were very helpful and alway pointing out direction. Just 2 seconds walk to the underground. We were in the ring and walking distance to all the main attraction. A good time to go on mid of Nov as The Christmas markets started that the town become very alive and we were so enjoy the Gluwien and sausages.. We will go back if we return..
Wonderful hotel.”
We stayed in this hotel for 3 days from August 11 to August 14, 2016. We do not have any complain from this hotel, as we got everything needed except outside view from our room. Hotel staffs were polite and helpful. All major attractions are on a walking distance from the hotel. Underground/tube metro station is just 15 meters from this place. Breakfast was awesome, many items for Vegetarians as well as non vegetarians. Travellers must try this hotel, as it will give them value for money.
Great location and bags of character.”
I was disappointed to be given a very small, dark bedroom, overlooking a brick wall (the glass was opaque). However, the manager was very helpful when I complained and offered me a choice of two rooms which were far pleasanter. Pity I had to complain to get a decent room. The hotel is situated on the Ringstrasse ,within walking distance of most of the museums and shops and very close to the metro station. The restaurant is reasonable with excellent service, although the menu is traditionally Viennese which is not to everyone's taste. I found the staff rather haughty in a typically Viennese fashion, but there were a couple of people on the front desk who were friendly and helpful, but they were clearly from another ethnic group.
Excellent”
For rooms with nice windows looking out book 4th flr and up at room numbers 5-7. If booking tours with the hotel staff be careful. Some tours are promoted against others - Royal Tours' tour to Budapest for example. Pretty rickety bus with awful PA system and guide! Also booking airport transfers over the internet can be half the price of hotel charges. No restaurant available for dinner.
not a 5 stars hotel”
The hotel is in a great location. Room was overlooking a badly damaged courtyard wall, but clean and comfortable. Service was ok. The hotel is not a 5 stars but more a 4 stars. Therefore if you get a nice deal take it, otherwise there are better 5 stars around the area.
Great location, minibar included, 24 hr free wifi.”
We went to Vienna for a business trip. Hotel 's location is very convenience, in the center and underground is in front of the hotel. Room is not small when compare with others hotel in Europe. Rate that we paid includes room, daily minibar and 24 hrs free wifi. Breakfast is not a big deal for us. Vienna has plenty of great cafe. If we go back again, we will definitely stay at this hotel.
Of course, it is a very nice hotel.”
I stayed there for the final two nights of my holiday since I wanted to relax in a reputable hotel, and it was quite pleasant. One thing that should be noted is that the room had a very old TV, a CRT type 17 inches (?). Not that it mattered to me since I hardly watch the idiot box in or out of my home, but the hotel of this caliber should be equipped with the latest large flat screen TV.
Highly recommended hotel”
The hotel as advertised was like Sadolin, 'did what it said on the tin'. The rooms were spacious, loved the high ceilings. Very friendly staff and helpful, receptionist, excellent. Morning breakfast was first class. The only downside, the bar did not have large beer glasses, small ones not the same, perhaps this could be addressed. The location was excellent, a short walk to the main Opera House, 12mins. Would love to return and would recommend to family and friends.
