Very good welcome and staff so good and alert to you . Breakfast excellent with super selection of hot or cold . On stay it was my birthday and when we went out for day on return in our room was a small cake and candle with a card with message from manager and staff. Recommend to all as underground and tram system only 50 metres away..
Actual rooms look old and tired and not like the stock photos. Despite paying in advance in full, they hiy me for additional charges despite confirming my account was clear on check out. I will unlikely be using ever again
A classic European Hotel”
In Vienna, if you're staying at any spot on Ringstrasse, you're fine. The hotel is minutes from Schottentor Hub Station, allowing you enough choices to travel around the city. The front house staff were superb and friendly. The breakfast was exceptional. The rooms that we booked are more or less the legacy of the classical European hotel architecture, which is quite new for us. There are lamps over the bed, one of them didn't work and we were afraid not to rise so quickly out of bed. The television was a thick, ancient, late 20th Century one. The toilet is a truely classic one; marble with old luxurious items. They might need to get rid of the toilet itself as it could come across as not so sanitary.
3 star at best ”
I don’t know when or how this hotel got its 5 star rating but I would suggest it is living on past glory. The greeting was efficient and friendly without being overly welcoming - the room was small and looked into an internal wall - the shower in the bathroom you would expect to see in a discount motel in Bathurst - disappointing. There was a sushi bar not a full restaurant at the hotel and this was closed on the Saturday and Sunday we were there which given its location was strange in itself. Didn’t get any insight from staff about what happens in Vienna such as all shops except bars and cafes were closed on Sunday. Excepted a lot more given what is on the booking site
Good Location, Bad Room”
The room had a tiny window, though internet access was free and the mini-bar (although only consisting of a few peanuts and some basic drinks) was also free. The hotel was right outside a metro station and maybe 15 minute walk from the main city centre. All in all, was hoping to have a room with a window given it was a 5 star venue.
Twin beds very small”
Not very clean the room
+ The location is good. Excellent beakfast. - We took the room for the weekend. I've chosen this hotel for restaurant availability. Alas, it seems the restaurant is closed on weekends(((. For two persons there were a one soap, one condition, lotion, two shampoo (thank for it) and empty cover for nailfile. There was draught from the big gap under the door. The saddest thing was the bed: the mattress was very old, the each spring of it wanted to be noticed. I couldn't sleep despite being very tired.
For rooms with nice windows looking out book 4th flr and up at room numbers 5-7. If booking tours with the hotel staff be careful. Some tours are promoted against others - Royal Tours' tour to Budapest for example. Pretty rickety bus with awful PA system and guide! Also booking airport transfers over the internet can be half the price of hotel charges. No restaurant available for dinner.
Nice location and Big room
The room had a VERY squeaky floor and I felt bad just walking around my room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location.
BEST HOTEL IN VIENNA”
Its the best hotel i have seen in my whole Europe trip. Its really a value for money hotel with perfect location and service.
Great stay at the Hotel De France”
Great Stay at Hotel De France. Location perfect on the Vienna Ring. Tram stops outside hotel. Breakfast bountiful of variety of foods and drink. Room was lovely and overlooked the ring. Staff friendly and very good customer service. It was our Anniversary and had a lovely letter and ice bucket with wine from Reception. Highly recommend. Will return.
Highly recommended hotel”
The hotel as advertised was like Sadolin, 'did what it said on the tin'. The rooms were spacious, loved the high ceilings. Very friendly staff and helpful, receptionist, excellent. Morning breakfast was first class. The only downside, the bar did not have large beer glasses, small ones not the same, perhaps this could be addressed. The location was excellent, a short walk to the main Opera House, 12mins. Would love to return and would recommend to family and friends.
I had some problems on the night I arrived; however, Mr. Lung, the front desk manager, took care of it all on the following morning. I must say this was a very pleasant service I would remember for a very long time. The location was great, close to public transport (easy to get around the city). As Vienna is very safe, we walked around the hotel late at night and early in the morning. Its breakfast buffet was good, and the staff members were very kind and attentive.
not a 5 stars hotel”
The hotel is in a great location. Room was overlooking a badly damaged courtyard wall, but clean and comfortable. Service was ok. The hotel is not a 5 stars but more a 4 stars. Therefore if you get a nice deal take it, otherwise there are better 5 stars around the area.
Tv from the 80s and unbearably warm room even after I ask for it to be turned down”
On the surface looks very classy. Staff were nice although they forgot to turn the temp in my room down (once I worked out I had to pull the wall panels down I was able to do it myself) this is more a 4 star that maybe 15 years ago was worthy of 5 stars. Tv was so small and from the 80s I couldnt actually watch anything...
We stayed in this hotel for 3 days from August 11 to August 14, 2016. We do not have any complain from this hotel, as we got everything needed except outside view from our room. Hotel staffs were polite and helpful. All major attractions are on a walking distance from the hotel. Underground/tube metro station is just 15 meters from this place. Breakfast was awesome, many items for Vegetarians as well as non vegetarians. Travellers must try this hotel, as it will give them value for money.
Decent Hotel but excellent service”
The missus and I reached the hotel quite early thanks to our flight timings but having flat beds on our flight we got plenty of rest and decided to view the city instead of checking in early (it wasn't free either). The staff Christian and Zhara welcomed us warmly and we reached back at the hotel after horse carriage ride around noon, onto which Christian alloted us a room on their own. The rooms though big need quite a lot of maintenance. There is no soundproofing which is very annoying to a point we nearly thought of moving into park hyatt (we didn't). Staff is so helpful and warm, and for that very reason they get 3 stars from me. Nothing else is 5 star hotel worthy.
Classic Hotel in the heart of Vienna”
Rooms are simple and clean, location is outstanding just a walk away from major sights in the inner city. It takes 20 minutes for the concierge to return the car, something that we weren't told at the beginning - inconvenient if you're in a rush. And the cleaning staff entered the room three days in a row at 8 AM without knocking at the door. Unbelievable, hence a low rating for staff performance
Hotel De France - very good hotel”
Very good. The hotel location is fantastic. The food is great, the room is very good (the mattress is not one of the best). The wifi is little bit problematic in the rooms, but in the other hand, you have in the lobby computer with Internet and printer, you can get iron to you room, hot waters all the time.
