Adorable, very clean and very comfortable”
I loved just about everything here. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and quiet. I really liked the classy/classic decor, especially the wallpaper and curtains. They provided electrical outlets for American prongs, so you can charge your iPhone/iPad/iPod devices easily. They gladly called taxis for us as needed. They had loaner full-size umbrellas! Lunch and afternoon snacks in the courtyard were a delightful respite from the rigors of sightseeing. We were up on the fourth floor, so we really appreciated the elevator, which accommodated two adults. It's an easy walk from the Musee d'Orsay and l'Orangerie, and close to the bus line that goes to the Marmottan museum. So this is a dream location for the lover of Impressionism. Also, the hotel is just a block and a half from the Esplanade des Invalides, which is a stop for the hop-on/hop-off L'OpenTour bus system, for general sightseeing and good local transportation. The little grocery store across the street (Le Diagonal) provided our bottled water (much less expensive than at the restaurants!), our Greek yogurt, and the occasional pre-packaged salad. My sister loved the Pims cookies, and I loved getting Les Petits Ecoliers in an actual French grocery store! The Tabac down the street sells the carnets (booklets of ten bus/Metro tickets). We loved the salads and crepes at Aux Ducs de Bourgogne (30 rue Bourgogne). My Bank of the West debit card allowed me to use the ATM at the BNP Paribas bank/ATM on the corner with just a 1% transaction fee on top of the interbank exchange rate; it doesn't get any better! I loved walking the two blocks to the Cafe Varenne (corner of Varenne and Rue du Bac) to get an omelette and a hot chocolate. After your meal at the Cafe Varenne, enjoy the block south on Rue du Bac - Angelina's pastries are a dream come true for chestnut lovers especially! I shopped at both the linen shops there, as well. Enjoy your Paris trip!

Beautiful Boutique Hotel in central Paris”
I stayed at the Hotel des Varenne for 3 nights. As a solo female traveler, I felt that it was the perfect fit. It was clean, the staff were very friendly, helpful and fluent in English. I felt safe walking to and from the hotel as it's located on a nice quiet street in the 7th arr. My room was small, but perfect for my needs and overlooked the courtyard, which I imagine would be a beautiful place to sit in warmer weather. There is free WiFi for guests and the option to purchase breakfast in the morning. I personally enjoyed the breakfast and meeting some of the other guests while I ate. I will definitely be recommending the hotel to friends and family traveling to Paris, and will definitely stay here again during my next visit.

Great Location, rooms are small but nice”
This Hotel was ideal for me. I was traveling alone and had literally 24 hours in Paris. The great location, 4 minutes to a Metro (1 1/2 block) helped me be able to take advantage of my time. First I left my luggage which was very easy since it was an easy change from the RER. The hotel is very easy too find and it is located almost in front of a small store, where I could find fruits, wine and water, etc. In Paris, space is expensive, so I understood the room wasn't very big. But it was nice and super clean. The bathroom is nice too as it had been recently renewed. Then I decided the most important was to visit the Eiffel tower again and so I did. O enjoyed the 15 minutes walk and all the "quartier", it is a very nice area there's some restos and cafes a few blocks from there. Les Invalides is right there. I went to Montmartre and then back to the hotel. Bed was confortable. I had a very good sleep, after watching a movie. TVs are new and they got many channels. By the way they also have BOSE stereo for ipods which creates your own ambiance with your music. I loved it. Next day I went to Louvre and it was also really easy to make my way from the hotel. Great location!

best kept secret in paris”
we booked hotel varenne for a romantic 4days stay in paris. varenne is a great district, quiet and with some fabulous typically parisian coffee houses, patisseries and restaurants where you only find locals. but....within 10 minutes walk of the louvre, champs elysees etc.! hotel itself is in its own enclosed courtyard so the rooms are quiet, no street noises etc small but as you'd expect in a city boutique hotel. perfectly clean though, lovely comfy bed and two doors between the loo and the bedroom - always a consideration staff friendly and polite, speak english german and spanish. would definitely stay again

Quaint hotel without all of the bells and whistles”
Staying at Hotel de Varenne was fine but without any bells and whistles. After traveling for 10 days I really wanted laundry service and they didn't have laundry service; you could go across the street to the dry cleaner but I didn't want to have a language issue and I really didn't think the drycleaner was necessary for cleaning pants (jeans) and underwear. They had a refrigerator but why when there isn't anything in it. Also, to this day I don't know why wash cloths aren't provided; how are you expected to wash yourself, ears, etc. with nothing smaller than a hand towel. I thought the breakfast of coffee or tea, bread with butter and jellies and honey, and a glass of orange juice was severly overpriced at 11 Euros which equates to approx. $15 American dollars but then I guess it is not necessary to eat there every morning. Also, no ice machines. You have to go down to the kitchen to get an ice bucket of ice. The staff at Hotel de Varenne are great!! Very pleasant, very very very helpful, very knowledgable, they helped with 2 taxi reservations and dinner reservations, and there was absolutely no problem communicating with the staff and their internet service is great. I just think with all of the travel I have done, I really need to start staying at hotels like the Marriotts and the Hiltons with more bells and whistles that match the price that is charged.

Comfortable and Cosy”
Excellent overall, can't praise staff too highly, great English, although they did try to improve my French! Attentive, and sense of humour too...what more do you require? Two Michelin Starred Restaurants within a 2 minute walk of front door. The location is great for The Rodin Museum; Les Invalides/Army Museum/Napoleon's Tomb a few minutes stroll away. A little further afield for The Eiffel Tower, cross over The Seine for other close by (ish)attractions. Three metro stations close by. Yes, I would stay here again. The hotel was/had been in the process of re-decoration and looked bright and fresh.

Beautiful hotel! ”
We picked this hotel as it was a 20min (or under) walk to most of the tourist attractions we wanted to visit when in Paris (Louvre, Eiffel Tower etc) The hotel itself is quaint and beautiful - yes, the rooms are small but they’re so comfortable and sophisticatedly old fashioned!! Staff are very helpful and friendly - highly recommend!

Very good location”
This is a charming little hotel, close to Invalides and the National Assembly, with easy access to Orly & Charles de Gaulle airports, the metro and main line stations. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are nicely and attractively furnished. However, they are quite small and don't quite match what I would call 4-star; the hotel is a perfectly respectable 3-star hotel. There a re a number of restaurants in the local vicinity, as well as a handy supermarket just across the street where you can get bottles of water and other necessities. All in al, a very good hotel to stay in Paris, whether for business or pleasure. Good value for money and highly recommended.

A quiet small quality hotel in busy Paris”
Had room 18: located at the end of the building, with a window out on the green retro patio of the hotel. Air conditioning was more than welcome with the summer temperatures. iPod speaker, wifi and so on available. Very clean for Paris standards. And in an old fashioned style that takes you away from routine.

Great location and charming hotel”
This hotel is located in a quiet, charming french neighbourhood. It is centrally located, and we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. There are lovely restaurants in the neighbourhood, as well as a grocery store, and produce store. We loved the charming french decor. It is a small hotel, so don't expect large rooms. Come to this hotel if you are looking for a cute french hotel.

Birthday trip for my mum”
We were out sightseeing for most of our stay, so really only used the hotel as a base. However it was clean, nicely decorated and most of the staff were happy to help with any questions. The type of breakfast available was very basic and expensive as an added extra to the cost of the hotel stay. As a 4 star hotel I thought there would have been more choice and no room service even for a basic sandwich. Was not impressed with paper cups in the rooms and the maid who attends to room 25 never replaced the cups daily or provided spoons so we had to keep asking for replacements. The hotel is situated in a very good place for sightseeing and travelling to all the major places was easy either on foot or using the metro.

Classical and traditional with service.”
We had room 21. Room 18 is better located and has been more recently renovated. Our room was still quiet but the bathroom was on the street side, with Paris waking up in its daily activities at 4... But we would certainly return.
