everything we needed in the one hotel!”
staff, location, kitchen
This was a lovely, warm and welcoming hotel. Felt very personal and all the staff were so welcoming and friendly. David at the front desk speaks English and was great at recommending places to eat and shop. The buffet breakfast is simple but all you need - toast, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, juice and coffee and was a great experience sitting in the al fresco dining with other guests. What we loved was the communal use of the kitchen for lunch and dinner, as we were craving some home cooked meals! The room we had was upstairs, was cosy and clean. Shower was great, the best I have had in Mexico! Internet upstairs was variable and only reliable outside on the patio. Some of the rooms were right on the lobby/reception area, so not sure if I would want to stay so close to a high traffic/communal area. The location was great, close to lots of restaurants. Maybe a 10 minute walk to get to the main square but is a nice walk with shops and restaurants on the way. This distance also means rooms are very quiet. My only concern, especially with a small child, was there were lots of stairs to get to the top level and these stairs become VERY slippery after rain. I would definitely stay here again, it has been one of my favourite hotels in Mexico. There is an Italian villa feel with all the white balustrade balconies, outdoor eating and large plants and tiled areas.

Friendly guesthouse in Merida”
Small guest house, friendly staff, nice old house
Nice and friendly guesthouse in the middle of Merida, but still in a quiet part of the centre. Close to all the historic sites. Very nice and attentive staff, who speak a good english and and ready to be very hepful. Just a few rooms around a pleasant courtyard. Only problem: hard to conect to the wifi in your room, you have to go to the balcony or courtyard for a good connection.

Funky hotel in old villa. Awesome staff!”
Staff, rooms, location
What a great hotel. It's in an old villa in the historical center of Merida, and everything is within walking distance. Staff is excellent, and provides very useful information regarding anything you'd like to do in Merida. Your main go-to-guy is Vicente, who took excellent care of us. This included assisting us with suggestions for itineraries (I'm writing this from Izamal, where we are due to Vicente's suggestions), as well as advising us on how to travel arond Mexico. He's awesome!

Recommended in Merida ”
Very friendly staff, clean and open patio. Comfortable beds. Very nice in many ways
I checked in and stayed at this hotel for 7 days. It was very comfortable with nice beds, warm showers, and a simple complimentary breakfast each morning. The best part was the flexibility of returning late each night, there was always someone to let me in after hours without any issue. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I would return to Merida and this hotel without question.

Nice hotel”
good location, friendly staff
the rooms do not have telephones, which can be a nuisance. the upstairs rooms are reached by climbing a narrow, switch-back, steel staircase, which is okay until you have to handle your baggage. the breakfast is pretty much the local equivalent of the "continental" breakfasts offered by cheap motels in the states.

Pleasantly quiet location”
You can get a good night's sleep here as you're well away from major traffic or street noise. Nice breakfast in attractive inner courtyard.
This is a safe city, but those of a nervous disposition might not like wandering down back streets at night to find it.
Only one night's stay here as I was travelling, but it was a pleasure to be able to get a good night's sleep without traffic and street noise. I had a ground-floor room with high ceiling opening on to the inner courtyard; this was nice even though the layout gives no external window (not uncommon in Mexico). Breakfast was an informal buffet set out in the courtyard. Less good: the room had a bit too much furniture so no space to move about and too many notices about what you can and cannot do.
