Anniversary celebration”
We spent our wedding night there 35 years ago when it was The Grand. They greeted us with a complementary bottle of champagne and upped our room to one with the beautiful view of the Galleria.It was a very memorable stay the staff was amazing even the valet gentlemen Mr Ali was helpful with our own parking transaction.Sheets were amazingly clean and crisp with a fresh scent.Deffinately coming back.Love the location so close to the Galleria We had dinner there at the Cheesecake factory

Love you Derek, You're my favorite when I'm in town!”
I have been a guest of Derek for years. It's my favorite in this area. Best features, music, decor, and two personal favorites, the shower rain is just perfect, and the super comfortable cow robe. The views are beautiful, the nightscape spectacular. Overall, Derek is still youthful, but I think it is time to remodel a bit.

We’ve spent many anniversaries at Hotel Derek and all of those other times were great! However, we found the customer service to be lacking this time. The mini bar was empty and we called and asked for items to be brought to our room but it wasn’t done. When we asked for some extra coffee, we had to ask twice as we didn’t get it the first time. I was very surprised that the pool was closed as it was being cleaned on a weekend. I think it was poor timing. We went to the bar and I ordered a Cosmopolitan and the bartender told my husband that instead of getting cranberry juice, they got what seemed to be a fruit juice. She said I could try it and if I didn’t like it, I could have something else so I did. The trash can outside was overflowing too.

The rooms are nice. Decor is alluring. Location is central to everything worth doing in Houston. If booking through a third party , call ahead to ensure your reservation has been manually entered. Staff , specifically Garrick (sp) are beyond helpful and patient. Will stay again

No A/C for 36 hours”
No happy with the hotel response after the A/C no was working for close two days. No valet parking option. And no free parking for hostess so be prepared for $30 daily in parking in a 6th floor.

Pictures Deceiving ”
Went off of pictures and reviews of course. Seems so sites only post positive reviews, the pictures are deceiving and use good angles. Rooms had connected doors, could hears noise from outside, upstairs and individuals in the next room. Makeup was smeared on the walls in bedroom. Was no housekeeping unless you called but apparently they come in to check her mini bar daily. There was an empty bottle in the fridge we didn't drink but was charged for. Parking is expensive but the location was quiet convenient and close to a lot.

The hotel room and hallway reeked of cigarettes even though it was a smoke free room. The bathroom had hair and nasty stuff all in it. Towels had hair in them. Bathroom sink was leaking. Lol I went out on a limb and didn’t listen to reviews, wish I did. Trust me and take your money else wear. Don’t let the “aesthetic” of this place fool you. It’s not that nice.

Hotel has generally decent common areas. However, the room is dated and worn out. Matted down, dirty looking carpeting, wallpaper stained, furniture chipped, terrible smell of old smoke. Bathroom is tiny compared to the room, very dated and barely functional; sink doesn’t drain, poor pressure in shower (after the handle fell off).

No dining available at all during covid. Only ability to get anything to drink is out of the mini bar in the room at a premium. Not one vending machine or snack area other than this. Shower sucked. Was told parking per night was $20 but it was $27. Hotel nickels and dimes guests without any conveniences.
