Nice hotel in Ormoc”

There are only few hotels in Ormoc which offer good accomodation. The Don Felipe has fairly good rooms and also restaurant service is OK. Location is best, very near to the pier for the ferry to Cebu.

Central in Ormoc. Nothing Fancy but Good For a Short Stay”

I have stayed here before and decided to come back because of the location and value. It is clean, quiet and has the most fantastic views of the bay. Staff are quiet and confident. Good security. Door locks are questionable though? Reasonable value with no complaints. I shall stay here again.

Good location. Nice restaurant. ”

Ok. So this place needs some upgrades in the rooms as they are very dated. Apart from this. The rooms were a good size. Tv. Wifi. Shower worked well. Bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and the restaurant served decent food for a fair price. It is walking distance to ferry terminal and located close to the centre of the city. If you can forget about the old dated rooms then This hotel is not as bad as some of the reviews. I would definitely stay here again. Very cheap and worth the money.

Room in upgraded section”

This was our 2nd stay at the hotel, but this time we were upgraded to the "newer" section of the hotel, and it was so much nicer. The less expensive older section is ok for a quick stay over, but the newer section had bigger rooms, and nicely decorated. However, one big drawback is the disco down below. Bring earplugs, as the music pounds til 6am...yes...6am! Luckily I did bring them and had no problem sleeping. Refrigerator is nice and the aircon comfortable. Not so keen about the restaurant below, but there are lots within walking distance.

Stay In The More Expensive Rooms For Value”

I had heard bad reports about this hotel, therefore I always stayed at other places when returning to my wife's home island. But I decided to give this a chance and was rewarded with a memorable stay. We stayed on the 6th floor, the "matrimonial suite"? Which I found hilarious (only in the Philippines could someone dream that up). Wow! What a great view over the city and harbour. The suite was a bit expensive but turned out to be like an apartment (without cooking facilities) and huge. Quiet and clean. No hassle staff, efficient and preoccupied with their mobiles or tv, but that's Filipino's. I shall stay here again. Impressed and worth the extra peso's.

Awesome view for the money”

I did not expect much. This hotel looks like it's seen better days. It is in fact old and shabby around the edges. However, my room was clean, everything worked, and had a fantastic view of the sea. Room service was quick and courteous. Also, can't beat paying PHP 145 (around $3) for a plate of pasta good for two. It wasn't the best tasting pasta I've had, but it hit the spot after long travel. Highly recommended!

Possibly the worst hotel ive stayed in ”

Its cheap so dont expect much but this hotel is awful. The supervisor on the front desk was rude and has an attitude that means customer service is not part of her vocabulary. The room is not great either.

Not fancy, but safe and good location”

This is an older hotel in the city and it does show its age, but not in a terrible way. Yes, there are areas that should be maintained better, but it feels like it should considering the age. The room was absolutely simple, even the white pasty wall color. But if you are just there to sleep, that should not make a difference. Bathroom was ok, and shower was warm. Although there is a restaurant at the bottom, there are plenty of places to walk for food. Location is great....a walk on the boardwalk is right outside the door and toward the other side is the main terminal for the vans and buses to almost any place in the Philippines. Price is cheap and I will stay again.

Satisfied”

It was my first time to come home to Ormoc after more than a decade. I wanted to familiarize the streets and establishments, and HDF was a great starting point. It was a breeze upon check-in; the staff was friendly. Room, sheets, toilet were all clean. Everything was working properly -- aircon, tv (except the remote control), hot shower, faucet, flush. Furnitures like cabinets, desks, and the bed were outdated or old, but it didn't bother me at all. I paid less than 1500 only for 2 nights, so it was a good deal.

Pleasant Stay”

Clean, comfortable bed, nice staff

It was a pleasant stay. Best to stay in the room with the view of the sea, it is beautiful. The furniture is a bit out dated but the room was clean, my bed was comfortable, and the staff very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

Like an old hospital ward or set of a horror flick”

New. Bathroom, hot shower, good location, good aircon

I felt that I was in a horror Movie.the room was old, there's a creepy old chair, the aircon is working but it looks broken from outside. The bathroom is NEW, the hot shower is new, (the irony of an old bedroom with new washroom). But I felt relaxed despite of the seeming creepiness.

Great view, nice location, friendly staffs”

View, location, staff

The hotel is located beside the sea, thus offering a very relaxing view of the sea and the surrounding mountains. The seaport and land transport terminal are a short walking distance away, so moving around is not an issue. There is also a good number of restaurants in the vicinity so you will never go hungry. The staffs are very friendly, always smiling and cheerful.

Not many choices in this city”

Location service and cafe

The room was extremely small. I paid 750 pesos per night and thought it was small. The beds were uncomfortable as well. However, the hotel staff is friendly, courteous and very prompt with service. Unfortunately, that's not where you sleep. The room was bordering a side Main Street and was loud all night. The hotel looks like it was wrecked by a typhoon but they never got to fixing it up. If you can live with those issues you'll have a fairly clean small and decent priced room in a prime location in ormoc city. Why anyone would go to ormoc is beyond me.

Hotel is in bad condition”

location

it was not a good experience, although this hotel is in a good location, it seems it is still in bad shape after typhoon - linen was itchy, room smells bad, aircon was not functioning well, my friend got stuck inside elevator which is very old, food leftover/trash are left in hallways, food is not that great, dusty, poor lighting, etc. This hotel needs serious rehabilitation after the typhoon. I will never stay here again.

Old run down damage from Tyhpoon”

Ferry location. Nice staff.

Used only because close to ferry to Cebu. Old run down and damaged due to the Typhoon over one year ago. No hot water and all plumbing leaking. Very noisy hotel next to the dock workers who work all night playing their music with no concideration to others.

Location, Staff and Value

I have now stayed at Don Felipe Hotel 3 times since the Typhoon. Every visit you can see the improvements. The WiFi is great now and the staff as always is very good. I hope by my next visit they have the lift working. I have trouble with stairs.
