Very nice, modern small hotel, caring staff. Just keeps getting better.”
I have stayed here many times. The reception area has been much improved since my last visit, so I assume the noise issues to the adjacent rooms have been sorted out. The stairs are also carpeted and before they were hard-surfaced and created a raket in rooms on the ground floor whenever anyone used them. I stayed in an internal suite this trip. It was very nice, spacious and clean as always, with a modern aircon unit that was also very quiet. I also had a fridge and tv. I received a complimentary piece of cake as well, being a returning guest. I only ate at the restaurant for breakfast, but they have a reasonable selection of items on the menu. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. The hotel has a modern, minimalist feel to it. The staff are attentive and professional. The management really care about this hotel. My only negative comments are the wooden unit under the basin was too wide, so you have to sit on the toilet at an angle! Also, there are no 'Do not Disturb' signs to use on your door. It's relatively nearby to the airport, so negotiating Manila's traffic hell to and from, is not too bad. Take a map with you or say it's between City Garden Hotel, Makati and P. Burgos, as no taxi driver I have used has heard of Hotel Durban or Durban Street. Enter from P. Burgos as Durban Street is one way, going out onto Makati Avenue.

Definitely Request Upper Floor Rooms”
I stayed at Hotel Durban twice during my short stay in Manila, in different rooms both times. The first time I was in a street-facing room on the 4th floor, and it was a wonderfully quiet refuge from busy Makati. The second time, I simply needed a place to crash overnight before heading to the airport, so I booked one of the single Pullman rooms and ended up on the main floor. It was very, very noisy (I believe there was a service entrance near the room) and I didn't get any sleep at all. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you can book a room on an upper floor (or main floor, if you're a very deep sleeper!) The hotel restaurant, Farfalla, is also lovely :) Very friendly and helpful staff, as well!

Consistent, consistent, consistent!”
I have been a guest of this place, I called home for the last 15 years or so. Every time I visit Manila, this is my home away from home. It used to be a mom & pop operation... It is so personalized the owner normally was in the vicinity everyday to see day to day operation. I am a unit owner in one of the condo hotels here in Makati and I still choose to stay in Durban. When I say "Clean" it's clean, I have to mention this, I have not seen a single cockroach in this place. Unlike some major 3/4 star hotels. Motiff is all white and brown, white means clean, squeaky clean. I couldn't wait to go home @ night to crisp new linen and a pleasant smelling room. Taste, Decor and interior has simple lines, minimal and impeccable. There was a transition of management to sir Anton from her mother. And so he kinda turned it to a Boutique Hotel. Everytime I visit there's always something new going on. There's a good restaurant and there's a tiny bakery. This place is one of my "Best Secret Hideaway"

Hidden Gem ”
I usually stay at the Oxford Suites when in Makati but wanted to try the Durban due to positive reviews. It was a great decision. I booked the standard first floor room since my GF was not with me and it was everything you need. A sparkling clean comfortable small room with a excellent shower at a budget friendly price. Being a American I thought the bacon and egg breakfast at the first floor restaurant was awesome. You can tell the ownership at this hotel is hands on and committed to the up keep of the property unlike other budget friendly hotels in the Phillipines.

A sparkling gem in Poblacion”
Great and quirky decor; the in-house restaurant is superb and the bakery run by the hotel makes the best bread in Manila. The room was quiet, clean with classy furnishings. The hotel is in an "edgy" part of Makati so the location is within easy walking distance of loads of places like Rockwell, Glorietta, Makati Med, Jazz and Century Malls. However the area is a little seedy after dark. If you like edgy, it's perfect and for the price utterly unbeatable! The staff were kind and very focused on security of the guests. It's a hotel stay which felt just like my Philippine experience - full of contrasts which complement appreciating each other.

Stayed here for 40 days and only complaint was for the main manager ”
I stayed here for a total of 40 days and in the first 2 weeks of being here I accidentally booked a deluxe classic room instead of the deluxe room and when I approached the main manager. (An Asian lady) I asked if I could be transfered or a refund. She was very unpleasant and refused and then after we left she rerented my room out. Then when we came back because all the other hotels we're booked up we couldn't get back in our room. I continued to stay at Hotel Durban for the remainder of my stay which in total was 40 days. Still have the received an apology or any kind of accommodations. I will be writing the owner of the company when I get back. Great hotel but her taking advantage of me really left a bad mark on me and if you have any problems here it seems kind of helpless to deal with her being the main manager and the front face of the company. I spent $1600 here and I felt like it wasn't appreciated very much.

Good deal close to everything. ”
H. Durban is a small boutique hotel in a very popular area of Makati. It's near the bars, pubs, and restaurants and walking distance from century city mall. The room has everything you'll need including a safe and a fridge and the bathrooms are clean and big with hot showers. I got my room for 30 usd per night and was very satisfied. The only con would be the non sound proof door that let's you hear hallway noises and try to get a higher floor for less street level noise.

Nice Place”
I have stayed in Makati many times usually at Tune/Red Planet so this review is based on a comparison between the two. Durban require a 1,000php deposit on check in, fine by me. Check in was easy. Room a pretty good size (I was in deluxe) and came with hanging space, safe deposit box, decent TV and cable but not including many sports channels. Comfy bed, clean linen and towels. There is no hairdryer in room. I had read other reviews about Durban and one person commented on small shower, I thought he was joking as shower looked a good size to me.....but the problem is the shower door opens up into the cubicle and if you are anything more than average size it can be a tight squeeze getting in and out. Another complaint I have is the noise from other guests talking loudly in corridors (not really hotels fault) and the noise of people walking up and down on what appears to be wooden flooring, very loud. A nice hotel for the money.

What a surprise!”
I was really surpised when I checked in at Hotel Durban since I didn't expect a very professional front desk, courteous staff and a clean room with the price range they had. It's like checking in a 4 or 5 star hotel but minus the pricey rates. Aircon was cold, bed was comfortable and hot shower pressure was really great. Although the room and lobby was quite small, it really didn't matter as long as they maintain their low rate. I will definitely stay again at Hotel Durban!

Exceptional”
My first stay at the Durban and very clean and comfortable rooms, the whole facility was very clean and amazingly quiet for the position as it is near the red light main area. I have stayed in Makati and this area for work many times over the past 5 years but this was the cleanest and best priced facility so far. Well done Durban.

Excellent hotel that keeps getting better”
I have stayed at Hotel Durban on a number of occasions over the last 4 years. It is a great hotel with excellent staff who are always polite and helpful. Past criticisms I have made about the standard rooms have all been acted upon and rectified. They have even added a lift since my last visit. The restaurant is reasonably priced, the standard rooms are more than adequate and the deluxe rooms are very pleasant. All rooms are kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The showers work correctly with plenty of hot water. WiFi works well. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Best choice always”
Durban is like our second home if we want to take a stress breather. The location is perfect. You cant deny that. Everything is accesible from grocery stores, spa, restaurants, mercury, 7eleven, malls etc. Their staff are very friendly, they can even remember that you stayed there before how nice is that. They are proactive in offering to get your bags, check if your ride has arrived. When you call frontdesk, they respond to your request right away. House cleaning is perfect too. I suggest though to update the channel list, the one printed on the brochure thing. Its really not a big deal. But it would nice if they print the new channels so we dont have to scan & just place it on top of the old one. The food is a bit pricey also but there are cheap restaurants near the hotel. Its fine. Overall still the best hotel to stay & the cheapest as well.

A small boutique Hotel with a big hospitality experience ”
It is a small boutique Hotel but with a 7 star type of service. All the staff are very helpful and they go extra mile to help us out. Me and my mom was taken care of like family, my mom was 78yrs old and mostly dizzy cause of the Philippine weather. The Hotel is always neat and clean. We stayed for 22 days and ate mostly at the restaurant downstairs. The food is very very delicious and not so pricey. Our favorites are the homemade ice cream and filipino breakfast. Ive stayed at many hotels from Mumbai to New Delhi, Dubai to Abu Dhabi, and local hotel is California, i think Hotel Durban has world class filipino hospitality. I am definitely coming back to the hotel. Special shout out to Allan and Kristina of Farfalla, to Reggie for the amazing help every where! To Raquel and Maria for keeping the rooms in order, to the Front Desk, Carmina, Echo, Jessica... and specially the most beautiful Marjorie who went extra mile for helping us. Thank you very much!

I always stay here and love it! Just a couple things to change ”
This place is by far the best place to stay in the area and I will always come back to Hotel Durban. The only thing I would change is... 1st thing is I was told I am not allowed to use the HDMI port on the back of the TV. They told me it is prohibited to use. Why?! The channels selection is not very good so I always bring netflix on my computer. Not really sure because every hotel I stay in, it's never been an issue before. Other than that i give this place a 5 star rating! Hotel Durban is the best and the staff is over the top professional! You'll never be disappointed with the cleanliness and staff! ❤

I have stayed at Hotel Durban many times and it is my first choice of hotels in Manila. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is convenient for what I need to do. The restaurant serves very delicious food. As many places as I have stayed in Manila it is the best for the money and security.

Pleasureable stay”
I arrived at Durban to find that my room was upgraded with no extra charge. Nice hot showers, modern minimal styling, great value for the price, outstanding location....The only thing I see that is a slight negative is that there is no parking if you want to drive there.....It doesn't bother me that much because I usually don't drive in Manila.....

Dear Mr. Michael, Greetings from Hotel Durban! Thank you for your honest review. We appreciate your time in letting us know your experience. Please be informed that all of our rooms with window has a fixed window glass which could not be opened for security and safety purposes. We are definitely excited to welcome you back when you visit our city! Best Regards, Hotel Durban
No second thoughts”
It was our first time to stay at durban. Our go to hotel are usually the hotels around it. After staying at durban i immediately have a change if heart. The staff were friendly, the rooms at 4th level were perfect. Its cheap & new. I like their shower & their sheets. I suggest you get the 4th instead of 2nd level, it was ok but the set up is like an old hotel something like that. The elevator was funny just because its so slow but it didnt bother me. The food was a bit pricey but there are other food options near the hotel.

We stayed twice!”
We stayed at Durban for our first night in the Philippines before heading off to travel and immediately booked it for our last night too. We explored Manila a little during our stay and got around on taxi and tuk tuk so I can't really comment on the area. The hotel was really clean, excellent value for money, very spacious room and all staff very helpful.

Very centrally located”
The property is found in the almost center of Makati Business District. It is very close to the seedy part of the city. I do not mind about the scene, what I do like is, it is walking distance to many restaurants, shopping malls (Glorietta and Greenbelt Malls, Landmarks, SM, etc). The staff are friendly and are ready to answer queries, requests, etc. We stayed in this hotel twice during our holiday in the Philippines because of value-for-money and its location. It is close to TRUMP Tower Manila too ;-).Though, I must say that the first room that we have been given is quite dinghy-ish and it’s difficult to manoeuvre inside because of its odd shape. It is room 202. It is also close to the room where it stored all the hotel toiletries and stuff. The next holiday in the Philippines, we decided to book our accommodation on this hotel again because of the reasons mentioned above. I would highly recommend this property to friends, families and some people who are budget-conscious just like us.
