Stylish and convenient. ”
The hotel Edison is pretty much a 20 second walk from Times Square so location and accessibility is fantastic. The hotel itself is like something out of the great gatsby, looks fantastic. We stayed in a signiture queen room which was quite small but still a lovely room with a brilliant view of the city. The service staff are excellent providing clean sheets, towels and toiletries every single morning. The rest of the staff are brilliant too - especially De Marcus who left a hotel Edison teddy, some sweets and a birthday message for my partner!! Facility wise, it has a gym and a launderette and although we didn’t try this (as we opted to try local diners and cafes) you can get breakfast every morning. My only compliant is that there’s a roughly $29 charge per night that is billed on checkOUT. With this charge I still think it was good value for money but it would have been nice for that to have been included in the price! Thank you hotel Edison!
Wonderful Art Deco hotel centrally located to everything!”
Never being in New York before, not sure what hotel to pick. Did some research and picked Hotel Edison and I was extremely happy. Close to so many restaurants, theatres and attractions including Times Square.
Location is great but our room was a bit tired ”
We previously stayed at Hotel Edison a few years ago and we were so impressed by the decor and quality of the room that we booked it again this time. However, we must have got lucky last time because our room this time around had not been refurbished and was a bit rough around the edges, still clean enough though. The air con definitely didn’t work well enough and we struggled to sleep through some pretty humid and sticky nights (our stay was during August). The location is great if you want to be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Be prepared to learn how to use the subway if you wish to explore other parts of New York that aren’t so packed with tourists. All in all, we forked our a fair bit of cash for this hotel and I don’t think we would again. I’d be more inclined to stay in a leas central area for a few more creature comforts.
Overall very good experience........”
I found the overall service at the hotel as good as I've had anywhere. Beds fine and linens very clean. Bathroom was very clean. The only disappointment that I had was that the walls were a little beat up (just need a fresh coat of paint), and nothing in the way of decoration. We basically had a white room with beds. Don't get me wrong, I consider this a very small gripe. Like I said, cleanliness was excellent, and location less than a block from times square action. The street wasn't as noisy as I was expecting. 50th street subway close. 8th street loaded with places to eat that was NOT Times Square tourist traps. Loves Starbucks right across the street. Nice cafe in the lobby, and restaurant. Liked that you could not go up the elevator without room key. We paid about $240 per night and I felt good about that. I felt the quality, location, and level of professionalism was a good value at that price. I felt this hotel a good value, and recommend.
Nice enough room, great location”
We paid $235 including all taxes. Quick (and early) ckeck-in and pleasant staff. Room wasn’t fancy, but it was fairly spacious by NY standards. We had an interior room on the 5th floor. No views, but it was quiet, which is a welcome thing around Times Square. My only complaint - the business center sucked. Frustrating login process, very dark, no staff to assist, and I couldn’t print from my own computer or phone. I’d stay here again, for the money.
Great Location”
PROs: - Room is spacious - Centrally located, close to most of New York’s tourist spots - Friendly staff (except for that one concierge guy/bellboy who was somewhat rude) - Quick check-in and check-out CONs: - One concierge guy/bellboy was somewhat rude to us - Since our room wasn’t ready yet when we arrived, we decided to leave our luggage at the hotel while we roamed around Times Square. They charged us $1/bag, which didn’t make sense (even thought it doesn’t cost much at all, but still) cause we’re guests of the hotel just waiting for our room to get ready.
Perfect New York Vibe”
It was a great experience. Very near Times Square and Central Park. Accessible to the subway stations. Very neat hotel and you can actually feel the New York vibe in this hotel..
In the heart of Times Square”
Edison Hotel was reasonably priced, and is conveniently located in the very center of Times Square. Comfortable room, and bathroom. Could do with some small renovations to refresh the paint. inside and wallpaper.
Great Location”
The Lobby is great but the rest of the hotel is dingy and faded. Very clean, however and bed very comfortable. You get what you pay for and I think our room was a former broom cupboard. We could hardly move in the bathroom. The heater in the room was very noisy and we couldn't have it on in the night. it only worked occasionally and we were very cold at times. But, this is New York. Not sure I would stay there again.
Excellent value & great location”
The rooms are tiny, but while you are in New York how much time will you spend in your hotel room? Great jazz bar in the lobby and half a block from Times Square.
Location location location ”
The Edison is in need of some serious refurbishment in the bedrooms, as they are very dated and in parts quite tatty. But, it would not stop me staying there again. Perfect location for Broadway and the staff were amazing. The room was cleaned to a high standard in day and the bed was superb.
Disappointed”
The Edison is an old and historic building. Great location in Times Square. Staff were friendly . But the room was so old. Paint was peeling off the ceiling. The room was small and dingy. The hot water run out at certain times. On the brighter side, the room was clean.
Bonus hand dryer”
Granted the location of Hotel Edison Times Square is great, but you could easily find many more hotels which are equally close to Times Square. Most of the staff are not very friendly and much as I try to smile while talking to them, you would be hard-pressed to get one in return. The first night was a nightmare. There were no instructions on how to operate the blower unit in the room, and it was freezing cold no matter how I tried to adjust the controls. When I checked with the chambermaid the next day, I was told the unit was faulty and she would get the technician to have a look. When we came back to the room later in the day, it was like a sauna as the controls were set to the highest temperature. It took a bit of fiddling before I finally got it right. But for the next 3 nights, the room sounded like it was fitted with a hand dryer- every 5 to 6 minutes, the blower would emit hot air accompanied with the sound of the most powerful hand dryer, lasting about a minute.
Fantastic hotel”
I always go to the Edison hotel when I Visit NYC on an annual basis. Location is so central, staff are just wonderful. Would recommend 100%
Room needs to be upgraded but the staff, waterbottles, coffee, location location location is fabulou”
The lobby is elegant, safe for they have security nexy to the elevatiors, tickets to shows etc are in the lobby just the rooms need to be improved but hey who comes to NY to sleep? Just in the perfect location next to Times Square!
Greet Hotel”
Comfortable and clean Hotel Room is was very clean and big Staff friendly and helpful Greet lication at the heart of New York
Stay at Edison”
Fabulous location virtually in Times Square/Broadway. Well-appointed room. The only complaint is that I could just not get thru to reception by phone from the room and had to go thru the operator. there was one Reception person, Mr, Tex, who was unfriendly and close to being rude
good, clean choice if you want to stay on Times Square”
The hotel is very busy. The staff does a good job of managing the crowd. I was pleased that they let us check into our room upon arrival at 1:30. That was an un-requested & quite unexpected bonus. Rooms are clean and comfortable. For NYC the price is reasonable. You are 50 yards from Times Square, with all the smells and noise and crowds. That was too close for me, but the kids loved it.
Awesome”
Great location, right in the heart of Times Square with many Broadway theaters located nearby. Subway stations are easily accessible. Room was old but clean, comfortable bed and the staffs were friendly. Got a room at the higher floor but traffic could still be heard. Overall good value for money
Good hotel close to Times Square”
Good hotel close to Times Square and the subway. Staff were friendly and room was comfortable and clean. Food from the adjoining restaurant was a bit expensive.
