Lovely view and close to Barcelona ”
Lovely view from the pool. Only 10/15 minute drive from the airport and took us about 40 minutes to get into Barcelona on the train which was ideal for us as we only wanted to go in to Barcelona a couple of times, we mainly wanted to relax and hotel el castell was perfect for that. It's in sant boi which is a nice town with plenty of bars and places to eat. We didn't have breakfast included so we just went to sant boi to the bakeries everyday but we did have dinner in the hotel on the last night which was good. Reviews said to have a quiet room due to weddings on Saturday's but there wasnt one while we were there so i can't comment on that. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pool had plenty of loungers and enough options for both being out in the sun or in the shade. I would definitely recommend and i would go back. The price was brilliant considering how close to Barcelona it was and it was exactly what we wanted
Loved our stay, thank you El Castell. Rooms were cleaned daily and had good aircon with comfy beds and a mini fridge. Pool area had lovely views and sun all day with a little cabana for poolside cocktails. Breakfast was lovely and you could take it out on the terrace and the restaurant was top notch. 24/25 as the wifi was not working in our room which led to a grumpy teenager but they're grumpy anyway!
Good location for Airport connection”
The benefit of this hotel is its proximity to the airport, the peace and quiet of the location, and the ease of access to Barcelona. This hotel is not for those who want to be at the heart of it all. This hotel is for those who value a little distance between themselves and "it all". Additionally, the staff is most helpful in giving advice for getting around the area and into Barcelona. The rooms are nice, clean, and spacious. The terraced rooms are lovely, offering an extra bit of space and greenery.
Terrible Customer Service”
I was really looking forward to my stay in El Castell, but they really let me down. First off, the receptionists greeted us very coldly. The man in charge during the day seemed annoyed with every question I asked. Aren’t you a hotel concierge?? Isn’t that your job to answer the inquiries of your guest? The woman next to him was also very rude when I handed her my hotel confirmation paper and instantly rolled her eyes. The hotel should really hire staff who are willing to help their guests, especially if they are tourists from out of town. My only (but biggest) complaint about the room was the refrigerator. You open it and it is literally just a fan blowing hot air. We notified the woman receptionist I mentioned earlier, and she said she’d send someone to replace the refrigerator. But of course, no one ever came. Skip the restaurant and its tasteless "lobster" dish. Be prepared for uphill climb from the train (10 mins). The only saving grace was the pool area and the viewing deck.
Lovely hotel with helpful staff”
this hotel was a great 1-night stay as we waited for our outgoing flight. the hotel is located just 15 minutes from the hotel, is a lovely setting, and has an easy public transportation link into barcelona. the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in arranging transportation in and around the area. the terraced rooms offer a lovely out-door option and a little peaceful privacy.
I loved this hotel 15 minutes from BCN airport! It was a beautiful place for our last night. Park like setting!”
I recommend El Castell!
Good and bad points”
I stayed at this hotel for one night . My room was not refurbished but was clean, bedding and towels very clean,. The bath had the shower over it and there was much black mould around the tiles and the shower screen. In the bedroom, there were mouldy areas below the television. The room had an odour of mould. There was no evening restaurant availability and no alternative offered such as something cold to be eaten in the room. The hotel was hosting a wedding anniversary party. The noise started early with many guests running up and down the corridor outside the bedroom and there was little sound insulation. The music did not go in too late but guests were allowed to shout and scream at the front of the hotel, under occupied bedrooms until after 5 am. Far from a restful stay after a very long drive. Breakfast is €10 euros and Good except there were no hot drinks available. A waiter had to be asked to prepare every hot drink. There was no standard milk for cereal.
We were only in transit, as we were returning from the Camino de Santiago. Hotel El Castell seemed more like a clean and rustic albergue than a hotel. However, the staff was nice and helpful.
Watch out for wedding season”
Cute small rooms - we were just passing through for one night. After a long journey, we didn’t sleep a wink due to very loud music and wedding celebrations outside. Nice pool. Not much to eat at the hotel but the little town is cute. Overall, it’s a great deal for your money!
A 20 euro taxi from the airport although not easy to find without Satnav.”
Decent overnight stop with a few minor quibbles. Arrived off a late plane and reception and room were fine. Reception told us bar was open but no one appeared. After ten minutes checked to be told food stopped in 5 minutes. Did not seem to be as well coordinated as you would expect. Bill included breakfast which we did not take although this was adjusted on pointing out we had not breakfasted. Pool and garden looked attractive.
Handy for the airport”
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel before flying out of Barcelona airport and found it a very good location for this reason. This hotel has obviously been a beautiful building at one point but is in the process of being renovated in certain areas. The unrenovated areas are tired and old but the management know of this and leave notes around the hotel explaining the situation. Apart from the aforementioned reason, we found the staff extremely friendly and helpful and the set meal in the restaurant was very good value for money. If you aren't too worried about the finer details and want good value for money and friendly service we would recommend this hotel.
Close to the airport and Great for early morning check in ( we arrived at 2am). Room was very small but pool and breakfast are great and restaurant is delicious and good value for money. Town is a short walk as is bus to Barcelona and airport. For a Short stay close to the airport it’s great.
Nice value to stay”
Good. About 18mins train ride to the city. Not very far. If you want to stay at out of the city, this hotel is one of good option as staying at a small town. You can find local atmosphere.
Nice hotel near airport”
Hotel was clean and affordable. Short walk from train/bus station. Very close to airport. Restaurant was great.
This is a good hotel to stay at and the location isn’t too bad if you like city views. The pool was closed on one day which was a pain as the children were trowing tantrums. The menu isn’t ideal for vegetarians which is a shame. We hired our own car and the centre was about a 20 minute drive. A good hotel overall.
nice hotel outside of Barcelona centre, close to highway with good parking and nice garden. close to train station to Barcelona or Colonia Guell. good for people who want quiet living but good connection to Barcelona city.
Where do I start?”
Booked 2 rooms for 4 adults and 4 children to be provided with bed spaces for only 6 people. Air conditioning in one of the rooms was not working and neither did it work in the replacement room provided. Room not cleared properly from previous guests with a shirt and vest left in wardrobe. The gentleman on reception was very unhelpful and skeptical of all the problems we were encountering and this proved the most annoying and disappointing aspect of our stay. When the lack of bed space was queried a "solution" of changing to rooms with 3 single beds was suggested. Not a solution as it provided only 6 beds! The air conditioning was treated with an attitude that it worked fine the previous day, followed by we had the wrong setting (he could not correct himself) but ultimately there was a problem in the hotel when others were also seen complaining! No acknowledgement of the problem or apologies from the staff! Cannot recommend on the basis the staff need a serious attitude adjustment!
Tired and outdated”
PROS: Within 2km of airport as the crow flies. Bear in mind though, the commure will take approx 20 mins due to traffic. It is within walking distance to a suburb with many cafes and a supermarket. It has air conditioning and an outdoor pool. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and varied. CONS: Wifi ony works in the lobby. The bathrooms and bedroom decor are rather tired and outdated. The swimming pool was not clear and had debris floating in it. Staff are rather indifferent regarding customer service. The price was very high in comparison to other hotels we stayed in throughout Spain.
rooms were spartan, with old-fashioned elevators. ”
although reasonably clean, the rooms were small and spartan, with a TV that had only a couple of English-speaking channels. the bathroom was long and narrow -- impossible to stretch out in the bathtub. no 110 electrical outlets or converters were available, so didn't shave. barking dogs outside woke us up early. good arrangements to get to the airport though, where I did shave, and the town and train/subway station to Barcelona was within walking distance (if you don't mind climbing hills -- the hotel is at the top of one).
fantastic location near Airport and town centre, ”
without any problem, fine service of the staf
