Reasonable Price, Nice Staff, Good Room”
1. Room is big and comfortable, I would not make any complain by giving this price. 2. Staff are nice. They are eager to give help to us; 3. Location is good, close to a metro station (1 min walk); 4. Building looks old... But every building in Kolkata looks old as well.
pleasant stay with good staff and clean room ”
room is small but clean, with no table, only one chair, one glass though the room is for 2 person. very little space to walk in the room. however good restaurants down stairs. staffs are very attentive. room service was good
very comfortable and cheap in a great location”
I was very satisfied with this hotel, which I ended up staying in for three nights. It's right in the middle of Kolkata, right around the corner from a metro, and not far from a lot of sights and restaurants and shopping areas. The hotel manager was so kind and helpful, and the room was pretty big, clean, and with good wi-fi. Unlike in other Indian hotels, it had a quality hot water heater in the shower too. Every morning they delivered a good breakfast to the room, helped me order some delivery food at one point, and ordered a taxi to the airport for when I checked out. I would definitely stay here again as a good quality and cheap hotel.
The people in this hotel are incredible and will do anything to help you. After that, let's just say that budget hotel is extremely accurate. If you just need a hole in the wall and a couple great people to navigate your way through India, this is the place for you.
Good budget hotel by Calcutta standards.”
I've stayed in a lot of cheap hotels in Calcutta over the years and lots of them are really terrible. This place is relatively good and the Wi-Fi is reliable and the staff helpful and friendly. I like the location too but it's not easy to find initially. Imagine leaving Chandni Chowk Station from Gate 3. Turn right and right again at the next corner and the hotel is about 10 doors down along. Look for a passage way - reception on the second floor.
Aweful lift, no a comfortable stay”
The Lift. OMG the lift is awful, one person could barely stand in there with one luggage. And were 5 ppl with 6 bags. Rooms were dark, not particularly very clean, OK type. Bath room was shabby. The hotel had seen some good day in distant past, but now not a good place to stay. Was cheap in AGODA, so booked, had free breakfast that we didn't avail. Staff was quite good, rooms were big. Close to New market, still had to taxi tho, so didn't do us much good. Has a low-mid range restaurant below, food was OK. All in all wont go back, not with family anyway.
simple hostel for an overnight stay”
only stayed for a night as my arrival at kolkata is pretty late... stay is just for a sleep and a quick day roaming around the city before departing to the sealdah train station... location is quite difficult to find especially late at night where there was no much people around... it is location among the cluster of buildings, one of the stairs on the 2nd floor... there is another hostel by the name of gypsy hotel upstairs... fortunately, the taxi driver is able to locate that street after asking around around midnight, and there was a hotel staff happened to be at the entrance (maybe waiting for my arrival?)... room was simple... a bed, shower with basic soap and shampoo (enough for one bath)... good they still have hot water for a shower... tv and hangers... aircon is noisy, comes with ceiling fan... bed is hard but okie for me... i extended my stay for half a day more due to my train was in the evening... the nearest subway is the chandra chowk station... about 5mins walk... staff performance is average, not too helpful with me as i am carrying heavy luggage, other than provide me with wifi access... to the train station, you still need to take a 20mins taxi with congestion included...
Clean, efficient, super well located”
During a sharp heat wave, the aircon functioned well, as did the wifi and TV. Beds were comfortable, toilets clean, and the staff on top of everything. Considering what many hotels in Kolkata are like, that's pretty admirable already. Around the corner from the Metro and the Chandni Chowk area is animated and interesting. Definitely recommend.
Only presidential suite is nice, other rooms so,so.”
Gd comfort but toilet need extra cleanliness because the wash basin is clogging fast, overall toilet is ok. Very noisy at daytime because busy street below. Breakfast is only 2 choice continental or indian puri & potatoes curry, same all day n served in room, not to my likings. I suggest only book presidential suite because thts only better option. Location is GD to metro n taxi is easily available downstairs. Choice of clean rest is 15,20 walking distance towards the park street. KFC n Coffee Day available. Try te Momo joint Opp Dominos Pizza n KFC. Their momos taste GD.
Not easy to find the location”
It's hard to find the hotel and the taxi driver got very tired to wander around and he needed to stop along the way to ask the direction for many times. The hotel located on the upper floor of the buliding and we need to take the very super tiny old style elevator. The room is considered quite alright(although not definitely clean). The air con worked well. The staffs are friendly enough.
Hard to find, but worth the effort”
Hard to find this place, but the staff are friendly, and the location is good, close to eateries, and fairly close to Sudder sreet. Nice, big, clean room, with everything you need, and love the rickety, characterful old elevator.
It's the Manager and staff that made the stay ”
The Manager Mr Aftab Alam was awesome. The staff was good in service. Managed well and its clean no doubt there is a very small lift to take us to the 2nd floor. Overall i will recommend all to Kolkata to consider this hotel.
budget hotel, very close to metro station ”
It's difficult to find this hotel. No local people know this hotel until mention Gipsy restaurant. Very close to chadni chawk restaurant. My room was clean and bathroom also. They could provide money exchange. Staff performance good and friendly. I'm okay with this hotel eventhough the street is very noisy.
The stay was comfortable and its a value for money”
The hotel does not look great from outside, stairs and lift will make you feel the worst decision you have taken to stay here. But as soon you reach your floor, you will find clean corridor and entering the room is even pleasant site. Though its busy market outside, but rooms are mostly silent. Its just few steps away from Chandani Chowk metro station and also taxis can be hired from the signal on the main road. Overall good stay and value for money for short stays.
Arriving in Kolkata is a culture shock, and arriving at Esplanade Chambers is a bit if a shock also.....through a small dirty alley and up a rickety lift. We stayed here for 10 days and it became a little haven for us. The location is fantastic. ....a 2 minute walk from the metro, and for 4 rupees you are in the middle of the main tourist attractions. Another bonus is a 5 minute walk from a main tuk tuk area. Abtab the manager is wonderful: we found him trustworthy and a gentleman. He speaks excellent English and is a huge resource offering suggestions on where to go, the right prices to pay, and drawing maps. He managed to organise my husband and I tickets to a IPL cricket final at Eden Gardens which was incredible. This is a budget hotel. It is clean, beds comfortable, nice breakfast, excellent internet. A great choice.
Nice budget hotel”
Cheap, clean and located near the Chandni Chowk subway station (but the station has 4 exists that confusing you to locate the hotel), close to New Market and restaurants. The room is rather clean compare to spaces and the building itself. TV with cable channels, nice speed Wifi, big space toilet with windows but rather noisy from street (not so much in the evening when the air condition noise can compete!). Breakfast served to the room that you will hear many rings in the morning, of the other rooms to ask about breakfast and again to serve it.
Friendly staff and a comfortable room”
We booked a deluxe room and were quite happy with what we got. It was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was also good enough. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would probably stay here again if I returned to Kolkata.
The locatin is good, very close to the metro station, and the staff are very helpful, WIFI speed is acceptable. Nice breakfast, except they would wake you up and ask whether you need breakfast at 8am, so werid! The restaurant downstairs serve meat for cheap price, but it's too spicy.
Great Location but noisy”
This hotel is strategically located very near to the metro station which allows you to move around more easily..the hotel is located on the 2nd level of a tiny shop house so it's actually a very small hotel..Also, dun expect them to have airport transfer services...Anyways, do try the food located on the first floor called Gypsy restaurant.. they serve good kebabs and tandoori chicken!
Near tghe Metro Station”
Friendly service, can leave the laggages and early check in
