Room was reasonable size for the price. Very clean. Friendly staff. Great location! Easy (paid) parking available through advance reservation with hotel €25 a day. Only small complaint is rooms aren’t fully soundproof. You can hear doors opening and closing down the hall and the cleaning staff in the morning. Would stay here again.
Hotel was great, everything we needed for a weekend break. Good location and close to tram stops when we weren’t on foot. Only negatives; the lighting in the room was awful to do makeup and there was a little noise from outside at times. Neither spoiled our trip though.
Friendly helpful staff. Really clean rooms and towels changed every day. Perfect location for walking around Amsterdam. Really nice touch offering free tea and coffee in reception. Only negative was the size of the room. Very small and extremely warm at all times. Although temperatures were quite cold outside over the past week, our room was actually uncomfortably warm, making it difficult to sleep. No possibility of fresh air, as window was within an enclosed courtyard. Would go back if an external room was on offer with possibility of opening window. Air conditioning would solve problem. Fan seemed to be for heating,
This was a lovely hotel in a great area of the city. The staff were friendly, approachable and helpful in all your queries and needs of your stay. Breakfast was really good with a great choice of food on offer and to a high standard. Room was a tad too small for me but that was my opinion, however, it was cleaned, and maintained everyday day with clean towels left on a daily basis. I would definitely used this hotel again for my next stay in Amsterdam!
Friendly helpful staff. Early check in was great. Front room was noisy at night due to trams and traffic so would avoid front. Small clean rooms. Good breakfast at 11Euro. Great location with easy access on foot to everything.
Hotel conveniently located close to Leidseplein with tram and bus stops and Blue Boat canal ride. Bus 397 takes you to the airport from hotel in about 40 minutes. It leaves every 12 minutes. Tram takes you to and from Amsterdam Centraal train station. Hotel was clean and had all required amenities. The booking websites failed to mention the room had air conditioning. We had no idea and were worried because it was hot outside during our stay. I even tried to cancel and book another hotel. So glad I didn’t! Shower had very good water pressure. We ate breakfast at the hotel twice and it was good and reasonably priced for Amsterdam. There’s also free coffee and tea station. The seating area is nice and never crowded. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who’s planning to visit Amsterdam and doesn’t plan on spending a fortune.
Small room for 3person.”
Cons- The 3rd bed was a foldable bedframe. The room was small & hardly got any space to open 3 luggages (1XL,2L). Hope agoda allows uploading photos, so I can upload the hotel interior of my stay.
I would of rated this hotel a lot higher if they maintained the cleanliness standards in the room. Whilst our room was 'clean' it wasn't to the standard I would expect. Unfortunately the day to day cleaning also didn't clean adequately in my view. Otherwise no other complaints from me.
Great location. ”
Located just a short walk to the centre of town. Great reception staff. Room was small but that’s standard for Europe.
Busy weekend, so we paid a high rate. Room not cleaned for 2 days; maid left towels and supplies in a bag. Maybe hotel was not prepared for so many customers. Room comfortable, somewhat small, quiet. Front desk very helpful.
very good location ”
great location ,walking distance from the museums square and from city center, A coffee machine is free of charge all day long at the lobby, very nice .wide rooms the beds weren't very comfortable (twin beds) but still a very enjoyable stay
Great hotel. Staff excellent, friendly and happy to answer any questions. The room was very comfortable and warm!! Beds were also fab. The location was great, being close to the museum quarter and about 15 minutes from the action around dam square. The immediate locality was nice with some lovely bars and restaurants. Would definitely recommend the espresso for a short break in Amsterdam.
Very Expensive and VERY small room. Fit for a small Mouse. ”
Instant dissapointment when initially opening our hotel room door. The room is so small that you only have to walk a few steps and you will be standing on your bed. There was a struggle fitting our luggage in the room let alone managing our daily clothes and toiletries. The room almost felt like it was in the corridor. Not good sound proofing as you can hear every footstep. Shower was small and clean - very dark however. Vending machine had also taken our money without giving me my beer! Overall very dissapointment and feel ripped off. I would not stay here again.
Great location at a decent price”
Pros: location is great and very close to downtown, airport pick-up and drop-off bus station (about a 1 min walk or so, direct to/from airport, and much cheaper that taxi), vondelpark, grocery store and a few nice restaurants. Staff was nice and laid back. Hotel offered discounted tickets for boat rides (and other things but we didn't check other things). Shower was great (strong and adjustable shower head). (Minor) Cons: room was a tad bit on the small side for three people (2 adults and one kid) after putting down the Murphy a bed and with luggages, but it wasn't unmanageable.
Clean friendly and well placed”
Stayed for a short city break. Easy travel from main station and to and from other Amsterdam sites. Hotel room was clean and well maintained, staff were helpful, 2 tram lines close to hotel. Would stay again.
Cleanliness definely worth the price! Good location and the hotel itself is very new. ”
Good location, there's a Thai food downstairs with good service and friendly waitress. There's a super market across the road. Hotel is new and clean, shampoo is provided and it's really cozy. Overall, 9.5/10. Highly recommended.
Hotel Expresso ”
10-15 mins away by tram from Centraal. Great location - within walking distance to a Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Friendly staff. Food - Indonesian, Thai and a Dim sum within 1 minute radius.
Good location, friendly staff, run-down an dirty.”
The reception area was ok, the check-in was fast and the staff was friendly. The room I had on the 5th floor was however not so nice. A big stain on the carpet, no do-not-disturb sign in the room, lightbulb not present in the reading lamp, a LOT of hair on my pillow (not mine, I am bald as an egg) and a wet male boxer-shorts on the closed of balcony outside my room. The boxer was interestingly enough moved to the other side of the balcony after the room had been cleaned, but not taken away. All this for only about 400 euro a night because of the IBC convention in town.
I stayed at Hotel espresso for 4 nights with a friend. Excellent location, near to bars and restaurants, tram and bus stops right outside and only a short walk into the centre of town. Clean, modern rooms, free wifi, free coffee/tea making facilities, free luggage storage available after check out. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Turned out to be a great last minute find; would definitely stay here again!
Ideal for sightseeing”
The Hotel Espresso was amiable even before we got there: no extra charge for modifying our unchangeable reservation! The area is quiet, within walking distance to the big museums and to the City Centre. If you’re tired from walking around you may take the tram 1, 2 or 5 to come back to the hotel. Staff at the reception is very friendly and helpful and tries hard to answer all your questions. The Lobby area also serves as breakfast room. You get full American breakfast and excellent coffee. You may want to use the lobby/breakfast room throughout the day, especially when the weather does not allow sitting in the park or picnicking outdoors. The staff will get you plates and cutlery to make you enjoy the sandwiches and small treats bought in one of the surrounding shops. You may have coffee or tea at any time of the day for just 1,50 Euro. Don’t look for a telephone in the rooms (you won’t need it anyway) or for a mini-bar (you can buy mineral water and soft drinks from a machine in the lobby),and do not look out for a lot of storage place . The hotel did not save on the beds, however, they have the same fabulous quality as in a 5-star hotel. Everything is meticulously clean. There is one minimal point for criticism: since the windows cannot be opened, you are depending on the somewhat noisy air condition for fresh air.
