This hotel is cute- but there were loud renovation”
My stay at hotel Everest was good but as renovations were being done it smelt really bad of paint and at some times it was loud. It was nice having air con but you couldn't control the temperature and had to turn it on and off during the night and it was really loud. The rooms are very different and I liked the weird style the hotel had going- also the fact that it had an elevator was great. It's a good place to stay to do tourist things as it's an easy, interesting walk to places like the Taj Mahal palace and there is a supermarket just under it
I have booked room with private bathroom but they did give me a room with shared toilet with excuses that the room that I have booked was not available. The air-conditioner was noisy like harvester machine. However the guy Wassin ( receptionist ) was friendly and helpful.
Not worth the money”
overpriced for what it is, actually a rip off! I booked a Deluxe A/C room for 2 nights. They claim, they have a shower in the room. Not true, a small shower and toilet is opposite of the reception to be shared with other rooms (water pressure low). A/C in room not working properly, not maintained as it should, no good ventilation It is hot and smells. Don't stay there if you can avoid it!
Good location but small hotel”
It was really worthy stay. You can not expect a better stay with this price at such a posh locality. Only adverse point is that it is located at fourth floor of an old building but try to set aside that from your mind.
good location w reasonable price”
i was travelling solo to mubai and booked everest hotel in advance as mumbai is big city. i took all risk to book everest without any reviews. i actually enjoyed my stay here in everest alot. hotel is located in colaba and ab 10mins walk to gate of india. the location is very great as near markets, tourist spots and in colaba which is much much better than the airport area. the room is pretty good size for this budget price (as mumbai is pretty expensive compared to india lifecost). hotel is one of the floor of the old building. the owner made renovation ab few months ago. so room is still new and clean. the manager is a young boy of the owner which speaks good english and friendly. in generall, i enjoyed my stay here and felt safe.
Expensive for what it is”
There is one shower for everyone and it doesn't even work (there is no water I think). The Air-con makes an awful noise so we can't use it. At least there is a fan and it is not to hot so we can sleep without AC. The staff is ok. The room looks clean but the sheets are clearly not changed all the time. The price of the room is way to high for what it is but we are in Mumbai and that's the problem of the city in general. So I would say it is OK for a few nights but you better get busy during the day because you won't want to spend the day in your room.
Really Entirely Terrible”
We paid for an extra bed, and did not receive an extra bed. We were harassed, lied to, and cursed at by the hotel staff. The shared bathroom was positively nasty. The room was cramped and unclean. We were told we would recive a complimentary breakfast, and then they tried to charge us for it when we went to check out. We loved the Colaba neighborhood, but this "hotel" was honestly the worst place either of us has ever stayed.
not bath attached”
The rooms were ok, but the larger building is pretty dilapidated. In the fine print - room is not bath attached! Although the staff was helpful within reason, I did not have a pleasant experience. The location is great.
A budget room for a few nights”
This did what it said on the tin, a budget accommodation We are a couple in our late 20s travelling on budget accomodation. This was the cheapest private room we could find, the hotel itself fulfilled what it promised. A private a/c room for the night. That was within a rickshaw or long walk of the tourist sites. Though if you are looking for space, luxury, a private bathroom, this isnt for you. Though we were welcomed and respected as an unmarried couple.
Don't be scared, its OK!”
I was very scared of booking this hotel but considering the options in this price range at this region we decided to risk and did not regret. We stayed in the room with private bathroom as sharing bathrooms in India is a big no no for me after a few tries. The room was reasonably clean and comfortable, lots of english channels on TV and the bed was clean. The bathroom is the biggest let down but it still OK. My biggest fear was encountering mice or cockroaches but found none of them. We did not try the food or breakfast as read other reviews saying they were not good. Good location, mini market next door and staff were really friendly and helpful. If you don't want to spend more than what this cost I think its a very good compromise in Colaba.
Good value for budget travelers. Let us in at 2am due to our flight landing very late. Arranged reliable and affordable airport transfer to both domestic and international airports. Walking distance from tourist sites. Very nice staff.
Worst hotel ever”
The worst hotel that I was sleeping in . There was no space for extra bed , but they gave us extra bed ... not a single room + double ... . AC was broken , so we changed the room ... in this room AC was broken , but in the different way . Problems with water pressure were so annoying ... but I was too tired to try to explain another problem ... Luckily it was only 3 nights ... I will never go to this hotel again!
Adequate hotel - clean and good value (for Mumbai)”
Mumbai and especially Colaba has become very unaffordable for budget travellers. I’ve stayed in a number of hotels in this price range that have been total dives - but where staff still treat you like it's a privilege for you to be there. Hotel Everest therefore is a good find being reasonably priced and clean, and this was my second stay. The downside is that it's not central Colaba - it's a brisk 20 minute walk to the main market, more like 30 to India Gate. Rooms are on the small side, but have AC (I often don't bother about, but in late April heat was appreciated). The beds are not very comfy - rock hard - but that's typical for India. Don't factor in the included breakfast as a value-add as it wasn't great - I had omelette-toast and it was cold, soggy and small. The second time I stayed, I didn't order. Service wise, it's mixed - the staff are not friendly, nor unfriendly. This time when I arrived mid-afternoon, my en suite room was in the midst of being re-painted. They put me in a non-en suite room initially and to wait for my room to be ready, but when I said this wasn't acceptable they did put me in another 'deluxe' room (slightly larger?) without further cost. I suspect the hotel will gradually improve as they are redecorating. I'll be interested to see if they change the built-in room furniture which has an amusingly tacky 1970/80s look - especially the floor to ceiling mirrors on some of the walls. I suspect the mirrors and furniture date back to then. You just gotta hope they changed the mattresses! Another oddity is the elevator which is erratic. The bell boy spends a lot of time running up and down the stairs to fetch it. Overall though, I think it's a good option for budget travellers in Colaba, if you want somewhere cheap and clean, don't mind the extra distance to walk.
worst guest i ever stayed in. bad service ”
first sight was really disappointing building. second day, disappointing room boy asking for money for no reason, keep saying, "now please, "meant for the money...no sufficient information about the surrounding of mumbai, place to see, culture, places to eat, etc... i look for everything i need on my own... i booked and paid the room for 6 days, but i stay only 5 nights, at the last day, i said i will leave, 5. minutes later came the room boy knocking at the door, askes of i have finished. (i was tired after a day walking). about ten minutes later, the receptionist came, asking"are you ready to go sir, because we want to clean the room for our new guest.......will you finish in a half hour. .?fee minutes later, for the third time, i was aked wuhhh.......really disappointing treatment, as i actually have paid the room untuil the next day...but
Just go there if you are extremely tight on budget”
I wouldn't visit it again thats for sure. Hotel was not up to the mark and I just had to endure my stay. Breakfast was horrible where we were offered just 2 slices of bread without butter and an omelette. Room was shabby, washroom tiny and feary.
Good location, but don't expect much else”
We had a good stay here. The rooms are really small, but it's in a great location, so it doesn't matter too much since you can hang out in the neighborhood- great cafes nearby. For the price (considering Mumbai expenses) it's a pretty good value. Shared bathroom was a negative.
A budget hotel, don't expect much.”
As long as your not expecting too much the place is fine. We booked fhe super delux and it was a bit grungy and could be a bit cleaner, but can't expect too much for the cheapest place in the area. Breakfast was barely filling and we had to eat it in the room, we also ordered dinner once which tasted good but we asked if we could eat it in the common area and they asked us to eat in in our room. The room doesn't even have a proper table for eating so we had to eat uncomfortably on the bed. Anyhow it's a good value for the location, but don't expect too much from the place.
Staying in colaba”
The hotel looks a bit beaten up from outside tucked away down an alleyway. THe manager on arrival helpful and spoke very good english. The room had good bed, a/c and cable tv.located close to gateway of india and not too far from cricket stadium. The shower in my room did not work and the other staff were not so helpful. Not great value for money and in a bit of a rundown area.Overall not bad
Wouldn't stay here again”
This hotel was quite dirty, and our room smelled of old cigarettes. Dark rooms, ok beds. For mumbai the price is ok. But the standards should be better. We came 6 hours before check-in after a long journey, and got a room. After we fell to sleep, one of the staff wake us up and told us we had to wait 5 more hours in the lobby, because "rules are rules..." Location is ok, with 15 minutes waling distance to central colaba.
A truely budget hotel”
Pleasant. Very minimal amenities. The room we had was fairly comfortable although the taps were leaking & the A/C was noisy. The breakfast provided was very minimal & was served in the room but there was no table to place the tray. The facade of the hotel is wanting. it was quite difficult to locate it. It took about 20-30mins to walk to the shopping area which was like a big bazaar area
