Small but cozy”
I was in Chicago last weekend for some much needed r&r. This was my first time staying at Hotel Felix. I usually stay in another hotel closer to Michigan Avenue but I decided to try Hotel Felix. Because I took an early flight, I was able to drop my backpack off at the hotel before checking in later that day which made my day of exploring the city so much easier. The room was smaller than I am used to but that's okay, I was by myself and as a short person, it really wasn't an issue. The only minor thing that I didn't like was the plumbing. It took several minutes for the water in the shower to get warm/hot, and the toilet would run for 2-4 minutes, longer than what I am used to whether in public, home, or in another hotel. Location was great. I was glad there were some nearby restaurants opened on Easter Sunday. The red line was not too far. I would definitely stay at Hotel Felix in the future. I enjoyed my stay.
I was VERY pleased with Hotel Felix :) The hotel staff was very nice and friendly and accommodating to our requests!! The Hotel is very clean and modern and the beds were so comfy! The location was perfect! We were able to walk to see most of the sites on our "must see" list. I highly recommend this hotel....I know when we go back to Chicago, this is a definite where we will stay!!
Great place to stay in Chicago! ”
From the amazing location to the friendliness of the staff, this hotel was great for visiting Chicago and wanting to be near all the touristy spots. Of course there are lots of other hotels in Chicago depending on what you are planning on doing/seeing, but Hotel Felix was nearby most of the attractions we were in town to see and it was easy to get to and from.
Great customer service at Hotel Felix - questionable low rates offered by Agoda”
Big praise to Darius from Hotel Felix’s front desk! He’s the most patient and courteous hotel staff I’ve ever dealt with. There was a discrepancy between what Agoda confirmed with me, versus what they had reserved with Hotel Felix regarding my room. After spending an hour on Agoda CS hotline with them giving me mediocre offers in attempt to resolve the issue, Darius made a great suggestion and everything was resolved without further trouble. As for the hotel itself, it’s around 7min walk to Brown/Red line and 2min to Whole Foods, in a clean and safe neighbourhood. Room size wasn’t a big issue for us with 2 carry-ons on a weekend trip in the 2 double bed room. The shower was hot with decent flow, and came with L'Occitane products. The free morning coffee/tea was pretty good from their partner café.
Chicago is a beautifull city and Hotel Felix a very good basis to explore it. At night it can be a little bit noizy but this is the cost of being in the middle of the city. Clean and cosy rooms. And a very friendly and helpfull staff
Excellent Hotel Close to Restaurants”
A very good stay at Hotel Felix close to several good restaurants and bars. A very comfortable bed with quality linens. Flat screen television, desk with adequate outlets, bathroom with rain-head shower and an overall, contemporary decor added to a good experience. About 5 blocks to the Chicago Red Line Station.
Extremely helpful staff”
Very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Felix and found the staff extremely helpful. I am a wheelchair user and found the bed in our room much too high and difficult to use. I asked them if there was anything they could do to lower it, not expecting much of anything, but they ended up ordering a new bed frame and installing it that night. This is the instance that stands out, but overall it was a great stay
Good location, nice room and friendly staff”
I am not sure what I should expect for 4-star hotel. Compared to my previous hotel without stars, this hotel has no bath tub, nor coffee machine. Room space is smaller but has every necessary things. Air condition can be set in a few range of temperature, but this is understandable because Chicago is normally cold. There was water drop in shower room, so I heard the sound of dropping almost all the time. Other than these, such as staff and location is really nice. In summary, I think for this price (about £60) this hotel is worthy. However, it should be considered that is it worth for 4 stars.
I wish I would of known there was a free parking spot available...”
On my last night there I bumped into one of the parking enforcer who was giving out tickets and just doin her job, I asked her if the spot that I was parked at was okay for me to park there.. She responded, well the only time your in a paid meter zone is if your in this pole but if your not, your good. She says your technically parked in a FREE spot! So therefore on my last night there I took advantage of that parking spot, right in front of the Godfrey Hotel(neighbors of Hotel Felix) and didn’t get a ticket nor spend a penny on parking for the night.. I wish I new about that from the beginning of the trip I would of saved tons of money from parking!
Hotel is situated within 10min of the downtown shopping and tourist attractions Staff was polite and friendly. Hotel value was better than any hotel in the surrounding area. I wish the rooms came with mini fridges. I would consider staying their agin if I visit Chicago!!
Great location and price!”
We had a comfortable, sunny, clean room, just the right size. A fantastic location for walking to River North or Michigan Ave, or an inexpensive lift ride to the gold coast or downtown. We had a fantastic weekend! Thank you!
Perfect Hotel ”
Great location near all the action, comfy room and bed, nice shower, good price. Lovely staff especially Deanna on the front reception, very helpful. Made my Chicago stay extra great all round. Recommended..
Basic but neat”
Felix is at a good location in the city of Chicago, clean bathroom, comfy bed, very basic. No fridge, no coffee machine in the room.
On the surface appealing, underneath a disappointment”
Choosing the Felix was more out of necessity being on the lower price range (nearing £200per night) during a busy Chicago period. The room on the small side, the staff passive aggressive (apart from the sweet cleaners and staff in the coffee shop). I encountered many strange things in the few days that I was there - first day no soap, shampoo, etc., second day it materialised but bed remained unmade, third day disappeared to be found in the shower area... On departure the front desk told me I was all paid up - and enquiring further to find out that they had debited my card without my permission using the holding fee to pay the tax. Self authorising an additional amount beyond the holding fee I had sanctioned.
Above my expectation!”
While the queen room is great for 1 person with 1 carry-on luggage for a weekend stay, depending on which room the hotel give you and the layout can be different, it can be tight for 2 people especially folks with large luggage. Also while the hotel offers free morning coffee or tea at their partner cafe in the same building, there's no coffee maker, microwave, or mini fridge in the actual room. Again not a big issue for me as I didn't need the amenities. Clock with USB charging ports, hair dryer, bath robe, safe, iron and iron boards are available.
good location, comfort, good for businessm leisure”
Hotel service is great. The hotel held my booking although I arrive very late, after midnight.Check-in process was very smooth. The ambience is great, and good location for me to move arround in Chicago. And very near to shopping area, so, you will not get bored. I will come again to this hotel
Great hotel! Nice location and clean rooms. I also appreciated that the hotel had a fitness center. One downside was that we did not have a fridge in our room, so we were unable to keep our leftover food cold. Additionally, breakfast was not included, but there was some good free coffee in the morning. And the restaurant attached to the hotel had really good food. I went for brunch and got a yummy crepe with ham, eggs, cheese, and a side of home fries.
Very nice place - a few changes and it’d be perfect”
Very nice room, great clean lobby, good amenities in the bathroom (l’occitane). Staff were a bit stiff, and the ‘urban fee’ is an add on that no one tells you about that’s meant to cover normal things you would get in a hotel of that standard. So in a way they get you in by a cheaper hotel rate and then add the cost later. Make sure to grab your water from the front desk when you check in. Oh and DONT GET ROOM SERVICE! Complete rip off.
Very nice hotel. ”
Our hotel room was a little small and the door was thin where we could hear doors closing as if it was our own. Besides those very small issues we had a great stay. We went with a group for a birthday and the front desk clerk Gabriel made sure our needs were accommodated. He even went above and beyond and provided our birthday boy with a personalized birthday card signed by the staff as well as a drink coupon for the hotel bar. We will definitely be back.
The hotel is clean and for what I pay it's valuable for the money. We only stayed for a few hours but impressed by the room's cleanliness. They use good products for body wash, shampoo and lotion. Luggages were kept in a secure place because we came earlier than the check-in time. The staffs at night (7pm ish) were very friendly and helpful. Elevator was clean as well. Overall, nice stay. Good location. Only 8-10 mins away from Magnificent Mile.
