Nice little place!!”

This hotel is ideally placed just outside of the city centre but near the tram for easy travel. Was able to navigate around Amsterdam quite easily with my 5 year old. Our room was comfortable enough and shower room was clean. There was evidence of maybe moisture in the room but nothing too bad. We didn't have breakfast with our booking but there were facilities for them to serve if paid for. The only negative I would say is that the microwave should be able to be used as a minimum and replenishment of tea and coffee, as we stayed 3 nights and was not offered more. I would definitely stay again if having a stay in the area as it was pleasant enough with nice surrounding areas.

Misleading booking”

My gf and I booked a double room with a double bed. When we arived in the hotel, they gave us a double room with two single beds. It turns out, selecting double bed doesn't guarantee you will get it (what?). Plus, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, small and also crooked. Hotel Flipper has excellent staff, but that's about it.

The room is very small. I had to get water for the kettle from the shared bathroom Not much room for suitcase. TV channels good but only way to watch tv is by lying in bed! The common area is good a shame there is no breakfast! When I checked out early at 4am the guy at reception was rolling a cigarette , I hope it wasn’t a joint! Very over priced! Cost me 330 NZ dollars for 4 nights and then I had to pay 8 euro per night city tax ! Now that’s ridiculous

Good cheap place for a short stay”

Lovely gent behind the check-in desk, helped us locate some places we were not sure of. Room was tidy and would definitely recommend this based on price and location if you are looking for a cheap place to stay near the center of Amsterdam. This was the second time I have been and the second hotel, however next time I will be looking to get one that ideally has a tram or metro station very nearby as this is extremely convenient.

Satifactory hotel”

Since most of the hotels in Amsterdam are very expensive, this hotel can be considered reasonably priced. My double room with a small bathroom, on the uppermost floor, should be a single room. There is no place for the luggage and they put the kettle and cups on top of the small cupboard. The sockets are not conveniently located and there is no lift in the hotel. On the other hand, the hotel is clean, the breakfast at 6.5 euro is very good and it takes a 7 minute walk to the main street where you can take the Number 4 tram to downtown Amsterdam.

Good value for money, staff were very helpful. Only flaw is walls are thin so noise travels easily”

The staff were instantly very kind and helpful as soon as we arrived, they provided us with a map showing us where we were, the best places to go and the easiest ways to travel around the city. The location is also ideal as it's hidden away from the main road which helps stop any sound pollution but is still only a quick walk from the tram stop. However, it is just as easy to walk into the centre from there which also provides a great opportunity to explore the local shops and Amsterdam in general. In terms of the rooms they're pretty much what you pay for, they're nothing fancy however still nice and comfortable and nicer than staying in hostel. The only real flaw is with how thin the walls are, this we found a bit of an issue with our room as we were right outside the cleaners storage room so heard them in the mornings and also on one night when some of the neighbors got in late and were quite loud. Apart from that the hotel was great and would happily stay there again.

A vibrant city with lots of tourist attractions”

Near Amstelkade stop of tram route 4.

This is a hostel rather than a hotel. There's no air conditioner so I felt very hot inside the room during summer. The shared bathroom is clean but for a skinny guy like me also felt very difficult to move when getting changed inside. I think for the same amount of room rate I could've found a better hotel. And there's one thing worth to mention: if you arrive from Schiphol Airport, take the train to "Amsterdam RAI" station, then take tram route no. 4 and get off at Amstelkade. You will enjoy cheaper train fare and faster tram connection to the hotel than you go from Amsterdam Centraal Station. That's for sure.

On the edge of the city”

The shower, price, and location to public transport

We booked this hotel quite late, so ended up further from the city center than we had hoped. However, the proximity to public transportation allowed us to see everything that we wanted. There were four of us in a quadruple room. It was a bit tight, but comfortable enough, and clean. The shower in the bathroom was great, and when desperate we were also able to use the shared bathroom in the hallway next to our room. The staff were friendly and helpful, if not a bit overworked. The breakfast was OK, but the cooked items were less edible than the cold cuts and other items. We preferred to cater in for ourselves, but there is no fridge in the room, so had to buy food daily.

An inexpensive place close to the city center”

I stayed along with 2 other friends at Hotel Flipper as we found it to be located fairly close to the city center and at a decent price. The space is quite crammed, but we expected that. The important thing was that it was comfortable enough to spend a couple of weary nights in and save us time transiting back and forth. The place is actually quite close to a lot of local attractions like the Heineken experience and the canal tour, from where several others are rather close by or just a tram ride away. The downside is that there are hardly any decent cafes or shops nearby, thankfully, that wasn't really necessary. Overall, a decent place for the money.

Rooms were clean, Cheap restaurants nearby, Close to public transport

Room were small but clean. Very steep and narrow steps which can pose some difficulty for big lugage. Rooms were cleaned everyday which is great considering this is a budget hotel in Europe. Internet access was included in the price but not very reliable. There are pretty cheap but decent restaurants nearby, especially an Indonesian restaurant where you can get great meals (3 dishes + rice) for just 7 Euros. Overall, I would rate this a good value for money.
