Great experience at a great value”
We had a fantastic experience at Hotel Fortuna. The immediate surroundings are not too scenic, but the convenience of its location in the downtown allowed us to walk to local attractions in a matter of minutes. The best things were the staff and the food. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the owners of the hotel (a couple with 4 young children) personally greeted us and helped us with everything we needed. We chose to order room service or eat in their restaurant instead of going out because the food was THAT good! I definitely recommend Hotel Fortuna for anyone who is looking to stay in the downtown of Cebu City.

Wi-Fi”
The wi-fi connection was not working during my first day of stay, and I reported it to the staff. It was fixed in the next day. Their staff are friendly. I like their buffet, it's totally worth it! The location is perfect, in the middle of Cebu City!

Cheap and comfortable for a stop over”
I stayed here for one night in March as a stop over before getting a ferry to Bohol the next morning. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Basilica del Santo Nino, the Magellan's Cross and Fort San Pedro, the main attractions of Cebu City. The reason I chose the hotel was its close proximity to the ferry ports. The hotel rooms were fairly basic, mine had no window but the room was clean and reasonable for the cheap price I paid. The staff were very friendly, there were some issues with the key cards that evening, but the problem was dealt with efficiently. Solo travellers should be aware when booking this hotel that many guide books advise against staying in downtown cebu as it is supposedly unsafe and notorious for muggings and other such crimes. I personally had no problems though.

Comfortable, clean, affordable, near airport”
Me and 5 friends stayed at Hotel Fortuna for two nights in between island travel. We felt extremely comfortable here and enjoyed our stay. There didn't seem to be much to do in the area, but we didn't have much time to explore. Great for budget travelers!

heart of the city”
The hotel is positioned close to Magellan's Cross and other Cebu landmarks. It has a great bakery next door and has a restaurant next to the lobby. The hotel is in the CBD, which is normally a positive. In Cebu, however, it seems that this is a setback. A lot of the development and better shops are further out into the suburbs. Taxis are plentiful, however, and this was not an issue.

Close to major attractions, clean room”
Overall a good stay, and the hotel is just a stone's throw away from the major religious attractions in Cebu - Magellan's Cross, the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, and the Cathedral. We arrived at the hotel very early in the morning (4-5 am), but the hotel allowed us to check in early without requiring us to pay extra. That was a great gesture from the hotel side and definitely put a great start to our holiday!

City hotel with good service”
The place is clean and seems well managed by a very charming American lady and her local staff. Very helpful. Walking distance of the main sites. Eating out in this part of the City is not so good (get a taxi up to Ayala for better food) so we ate in. Very respectable meal with generous portions; the usual Filipino confusion about wine! Rooms basic and rather cramped and without outside light - a particular bugbear of mine. A kettle and cups were provided but no tea or coffee. This seems to be the modern trend here and one assumes its down to cost-cutting but it's the little things that make the difference! WiFi signal poor in the room I occupied. This place is fine for a one-nighter to take in the old part of the City but I wouldn't recommend it highly for a longer stay or as your holiday base. (Although why anyone would be taking a holiday in Cebu I cannot fathom!)

Not impressive”
On our last day, the hotel door is problematic! We cannot open it from the outside! We informed the reception at 9AM and a staff came to open our door (We informed the reception that we will be checking out by 12PM and requested that the room's door be rectified). They promised. When we came back at 12PM, nothing was resolved i.e the room door still cannot be opened from the outside. We were made to stand at the corridor waiting for 6-7 mins for some help. Making your guests (4 of us) waiting at the hotel corridor is unacceptable and showed careless attitude of the hotel's staff. Although we were given complimentary extended one hour for our check-out time for only one room (from 12PM to 1PM). It was given after much persuasion from the lady owner. She was reluctant to accede to our request. The hotel had wanted to charge us 100 Peso for the extended 1 hour check-out time (from 12PM to 1PM). Anyway, we "lost" 6-7 mins waiting for help to open the room door! We never encountered such calculative hotel owner as our past travel to various countries had always allowed us one room for extended check-out time. Morever, the period of our travel to Cebu is non-peak season. It is rather unfortunate for us to stay in this Hotel "UNFORTUNE"! I guess you will be "UNFORTUNATE" if you were to stay in Hotel FORTUNA or rather should be aptly named as Hotel UNFORTUNA!

Downtown Hotel”
First visit to Cebu in a long time so it was good to have a hotel downtown where everything is nearby. It was a bit noisy but that was expected. Everything in the hotel functioned so it was fine.

Friendly Staff and clean rooms”
i never expected that this hotel will be as good as i imagined it to be. the hotel itself is clean and all the staff were friendly. it is just minutes away from the basilica del santo nino and magellan's cross so it was easier for us to visit those places. the only problem is the surroundings. the hotel is surrounded by market so i advice not to bring any valuables when going out. haha... but overall, my stay in the hotel is good.

Comfotable and clean, ”
I found the room to be comfortable and clean enough for a hotel within its price-range. Location is perfect if you need to be in the downtown area. My room had 2 singles, but the staff converted it to a double. Like so many hotels in this price range, its food offering is pretty ordinary, but there are plenty restaurants and fast food places nearby.. Metro Gaisana Dept store also just a block away.

3-star hotel”
Room was okay, just right for the price. I was disappointed though that their lock/keycard system was not working during my 4-day stay. When going to your room, you have to notify any hotel personnel or the front desk so they'll accompany you to your room and use their keycard to open the door.

Good”
Very good location and the fastest WIFI I had in the last two weeks. Welcoming staff. The hotel is much older, than you might think from the photos. It is located next to the carbon market, therefore expect lots of noise.

Needs to improve”
Old and dated room and very basic. Table had cups with saucers and drinking glasses but no kettle. What is that all about? Close to amenities but if you expect what you see in the pictures then look elsewhere. Close to the pier roughly 5 mins in a taxi, main reasons for booking this hotel.

Budget-friendly”
It's a good place to consider to those who go after a budget-friendly hotel. Buffet lunch was good, rooms are clean, and it's primarily located in downtown area.
