    A Welcoming Hotel
We stayed at the Fuji for 2 nights at the end of our recent trip to Nepal. The Fuji is located within the Thamel are, a short walk from stores, restaurants and other tourist attractions. The lobby is tastefully decorated with dark woodwork and panelling, my first impression was the Fuji reminded me of some of the grand old hotels we have seen in Europe and in Banff, which is in our 'backyard' at home. On a much smaller scale, but a similar feel. Our room was generously sized with a well set up bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean, in fact that was a point my wife & I both noticed. Every time you saw the staff they were busy cleaning and making sure the hotel was as perfect as they could make it. When we returned to the hotel after a morning of wandering around Thamel, the desk clerk recognized us, had our key out and greeted us by name. Again a feel of the 'old world' hotel. We had a minor problem with the fan in our room, a mention at the front desk and nearly instantly maintenance was at our door to fix the problem. There are several rooftop patio areas to sit with a cool drink on a hot day and enjoy a breeze, or just to look out over the packed neighborhoods. The included breakfast buffet was wonderful with a rotating selection on the hot table and cereals with fresh fruit, milk, toast and everything else you could expect. The staff were attentive to our every need, we almost felt like celebrities. There is both an inside dining room and an exterior patio as you should wish. The only drawback I can mention is the rooms aren't air conditioned, which can make the uncomfortably hot in May & June at least. I would recommend trying to get a room facing east or north to help alleviate the problem. We can wholeheartedly recommend the Fuji Hotel to anybody traveling to Kathmandu.

    Pleasant stay
The hotel is within the shopping/eating area of Thamel. Easy to walk most places. Another hotel we stayed with in Kathmandu provided complimentary bottles of drinking water each day, would be nice if Fuji did the same. Wifi was very slow, not sure if this has something to do with the electricity shortages.

    good base camp
staff, cleanliness, roof top garden view
Our stay was comfortable and warm once we changed to the air conditioned room. We had a corner front room so light snd sunny in the arvo. It was central and easy to return to in between sight seeing and shopping. The staff were most obliging and friendly. I would stay there again and recommend it to friends.

    Decent stay
The three best things were the staff, the location and the cleanliness.
It was the only hotel I stayed in in Kathmandu so I can't compare with other hotels but the Fuji was decent enough. The staff were really helpful and my room was always clean so I have no complaints. I didn't eat here so I can't comment on the food.

nice hotel and close to garden of dreams
clean rooms, good wifi, close to garden of dreams
i booked this hotel in the morning and tried to check-in in the afternoon. the manager first claimed that they don't have my booking. i showed them my agoda booking and after 30 minutes, they found it. then they told me they have no room and want to send me to another hotel. i told them that it is not acceptable as i have a confirmed reservation. i refused to leave and they finally found a room for me. my room is clean, with good wifi signals and good hot water pressure. there is an elevator which is rare for medium-priced hotels in kathmandu. it is quite conveniently located to restaurants in the thamel area and within walking distance to the garden of dreams, a most serene and beautiful escape from the crazy kathmandu dust and traffic. would have given it a 4 rating except for the check-in hiccup.

Internet only worked in the lobby. Carry the hotel card because it isnt easy for taxis to find.

Great location, hot showers, friendly staff.
The owner is extremely kind and helpful. Hot shower and good heating
This is a great hotel, I can't speak highly enough of it. They are doing construction between 9am and 5pm but the lovely owner warned me and apologised for any inconvenience upon arrival. Heating in the room is great for the 0 degree nights and good hot showers.
