MJA”
Hotel Ganesh Himal is a small oasis right in the middle of crazy Kathmandu. The rooms are exactly what you pay for, don’t expect luxury. The central garden is a quiet space filled with flowers and its own little stupa. Private verandas on each floor offer a great space for reading or even napping and the top floor gives a view over the busy streets. The restaurant serves delicious food at a very reasonable price and the staff were helpful, courteous and attentive.

Very good”
The hotel is a quiet, clean, and comfortable oasis in the heart of Thamel. It was really nice to relax in the hotel's central courtyard and listen to the songs of local birds away from the dust and bustle of the city just outside.

Clean and cheap!”
I stayed 2 nights before my trek and then was able to stay a 3rd night without any hassle or booking because my flight to lukla was cancelled. Rooms are clean and have the basics you need like power points, free wifi was helpful. Only a short walk into the heart of Thamel for great food and shops. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Free unlimited bottle water. The restaurant food was below average though.

Quiet surrounding, friendly staff”
This is the best hotel to stay in Kathmandu, and yet you get to enjoy the quiet environment. Free flow of hot shower, battery charge and filtered water free refill. Despite the small bathroom, this is one of the best choice of accommodation in Kathmandu.

lovely backyard but the room needs to be upgraded”
friendly staff, quiet environment, 24h hot water
Everything is good except for that the breakfast is not included and that the room we lived was a little too old. Also, power sockets were few and we can only charge two of our devices.

A peaceful retreat in a noisy city!”
Garden, and roof terrace with views of monkey temple.
This is a great hotel if you can afford a bit more than the average backpacker options. There's a beautiful garden which makes for a peaceful haven in noisy, dusty Katmandhu - only spoiled by the sound of generators during Ktm's many power cuts. My deluxe room was nicely furnished with a comfortable bed and hot shower which never let me down. I felt it was good value at just over £20 although some standard rooms were similar if you stay in the main building - which you should try to do, coz it's like a totally different and much superior hotel! PS There's a great little local restaurant up on the main road a few metres from the junction, called Peacock something or other. Try the paneer pakoda! North field Cafe for good, slightly dearer food and local live music. It's walking distance to the best sights I found in this over-hyped city: Derber Square and Garden of Dreams.

Fine Budget Option”
1. Lots of hot water. 2. Big room 3. Friendly people.
We stayed recently at this hotel for 3 nights. It's a fine budget option for Kathmandu with a friendly and helpful staff, free airport pickup (they met us at the airport), nice garden settings and good food, especially for breakfast. Our room was also large, clean and airy. Free internet was also available and the hotel was the only one in Nepal that we stayed at that always seemed to have electricity. The only disadvantage is that the hotel location is somewhat ratty and there is a potholed, dirt road leading to the hotel which is located between Durbar Square and Thamel (about R 200 taxi ride from both) in an unappealing area. Most hotels in Nepal are noisy by Western standards and this one has lots of dog noise in particular at nighttime.

Friendly and attentive staff, clean and comfortable rooms
Stayed here twice and can definetely recommend the hotel. Advantage is that is very central but not right in the middle of sometimes tiring Thamel.

Enjoyed staying here twice”
Location is near Thamel but quiet, lovely gardens are an oasis, modern rooms with good bedding
The hotel is only 2 streets, 5 minutes walk away from the craziness of Thamel. So it's quiet and less congested. It's a real hotel, with security guard and gate, as well as a very attentive front desk staff. The rooms were great. We stayed twice, and the second time was in the new building, in the super deluxe room. Truly excellent. But the deluxe was also great. The difference is better satellite TV, and quieter rooms. Really the only noise you hear are the pigeons, and they can be anywhere. The food was very good, and lovely to eat out in the garden. Each floor has a nice balcony area to read or check emails. Overall, I'd recommend this place for sure.

Great for groups”
Restaurant and dining attached, quiet garden, and close proximity to shopping and airport
It was great the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a group of 14 and were all comfortable! It had an amazing garden that made you feel like you were not in the middle of a busy city. It was close to shopping and the air port. The only downside was that the food took a long time to get to us, though we did have a large group which may have been the issue. The front desk staff was great in enchanging money at a good rate. The tos were clean and the internet was consistently working well! Overall an amazing stay at a great rate!!!

good selection of breakfast, nice garden, spacious shared balcony
the stay at Hotel Ganesh Himal was very pleasant.. Basic things like cleanliness of the room and hot water were available.. Nice breakfast and friendly staffs. Love the peacefulness of the hotel even though itbis situated near the crazy busy Thamel . The garden and the balcony on every food is a plus point. It is value for money and I definitely recommend this place .

Nice & great attentive staff
Nice stay and very helpful and attentive staff. A lot of information can get from the reception. They also provide services to book air ticket, buses & arrange taxi. Location wise is a bit at inner path, a bit further away from shopping street but near to durbar square.

great place full of smiling faces”
wonderful location right near THamel, spacious rooms with charming balconies, helpful service
I had stayed here before 15 years ago and standards were just the same. The desk staff were freindly and helpful and the cleaning of the room was excellent. One of the major pluses in December was that they provided good heaters and nice hot water. The hotel is jus a few streets from busy Thamel but not noisy and each level of the building has different balconies which look out over the roof tops and feel great to laze on. The reception area is nice if you have to wait for airport runs and there are welcome drinks checking in. We enjoyed the different breakfast choices and room service. A great hotel for value for money.
