Awful staff and room size was very small like a match box”
Just don’t go by images of room in this hotel. You will find that you booked something else and you are getting something else. Hotel staff was very non-cooperative & rude. Even complete aminities were not provided as mentioned.

Value for money”
We were very fortunate to have stayed in Hotel Gardena as it was very close to Venice Santa Lucia train station. There were two big luggages with two back packs that we carried from Rome & Florence. Since the porter service was ridiculously expensive for budget traveller like us, we were lucky to have stayed at the hotel nearby. Only two bridges that separated us at from the station and the hotel. For the amount that we paid (50 plus euros a night) we were pleasantly surprised that this hotel has a proper lobby as well as a buffet breakfast. For the second time we were fortunate because we were given a room overlooking the Rio Dei Tolentini Canal which was splendid and lovely. The room was nice & clean as well as the bathroom even though a bit dated but guess that was the theme of Hotel Gardena. The buffet breakfast was very nice as the spread is similar to 4 star hotel even though there is only one waitress attending. The wifi connection was excellent as well as the heating in the room & bathroom. Even though the distance between the hotel and the landmarks & attraction of Venice is quite far, it was still worth every penny as Venice is a city where you need to roam freely by walking since there aren't any motorised vehicles to distract you along your journey. The host of Hotel Gardena was very pleasant and friendly. Given another chance to travel to Venice we would definitely stay in Hotel Gardena, at least for four nights minimum.

Excellent Choice!”
We had never been to Venice and were looking for a hotel that would fit our budget, be in a great location, and meet our expectations as to cleanliness and safety. Hotel Gardena did it all! We will certainly stay there next time we visit Venice. Located in a perfect location—just off the Grand Canal (could see it out my window); across the Grand Canal from THE train station; a 5-10 minute walk from the bus station that takes you to the airport; and just minutes from the water transportation system (which EVERYONE uses when they visit Venice). Add to that the room was EXCEPTIONALLY clean; air conditioned (a must!); had an excellent European breakfast that you could enjoy with a cappuccino each morning outside in their courtyard, if you so desired; and their Staff was VERY helpful in showing you sites to see—getting the most out of your Venice experience. When you are picking a hotel from hundreds on the Internet, it’s always good to arrive and have your spouse say “excellent!”

Schönes Hotel an guter Lage”

Fantastic boutique hotel with great location and excellent value for money”
We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Gardena. The hotel is well decorated and has a small restaurant on the ground floor which serves a lovely continental breakfast. There is a seating area on the outside where you can enjoy your meal when the weather is good. There is also a semi-private sitting area on the ground floor which we found useful as a waiting area after checkout. They also have a secure area to store luggage. We chose this hotel based on its proximity to the train station, water bus and Piazalle Roma for the airport bus. Ideal if you have plenty luggage but 15 mins walk to most sites. The rooms are exquisitely decorated in typical Venetian style which was a must for me. We stayed in Room 203 which had views of the Grand Canal and a small side canal. Also a must when choosing a place in Venice. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. I regret that I did not take their names but both gentlemen who worked the front desk during our stay are deserving of mention.

A small historic gem at the right location”
We had a pleasant stay at Gardena, Venice. It is located right next to one of the small less busy canals and far enough (~75m) from the busy and noisy main canal. The rooms are small but cozy, clean and very comfortable. In short, they provide everything a traveler need for a positive stay in Venice. The staff were professional, genuine and helpful. The breakfast is good without being lavish, although i missed more fresh Italian bread. The wifi was too slow compared to standard and the TV-programmes did not include international news channels such as Al Jazeera, BBC and CNN. To us, it didnt matter, because we were not in Venice for that, but some people may spend more time in their rooms during the hot noon-hours.

Great stay”
Really enjoyed my stay in Gardena hotel!! The location is the best either your traveling by train or you need to go to the airport! It's located on the middle of all transportations needed to circulate inside and outside Venice! They upgraded our room which was really nice! The hotel is nicely decorated and compared to other hotels is much cleaner inside and outside!! Totally recommend it!

Outstanding hotel with quality service ”
The hotel is clean and well-designed with its interior furnishing. I am so impressed by its space and the quality of the room. On top of that, the staff are really friendly, patient and helpful. I am especially thankful to Alberto for his willingness to go the extra mile to serve us. The breakfast venue has a beautiful garden to add on to the entire experience. I highly recommend Gardena Hotel in Venice.

Nice quiet hotel near the train station”
I felt that I have made an excellent choice to stay at this hotel for various reasons. The main reason is because it's very close to the train station. This is really the deal breaker since Venice has plenty of bridges to cross and it's very hard to drag your luggage up and down the bridges and along the uneven pavements. However it only takes one crossing at the Scalzi Bridge from the station to the hotel. For other hotels, you would have to board the vaporetto with your luggage amidst the packed passengers. Second reason: it's close to the vaporetto stations Ferrovia and Piazzale Roma. So it's very convenient to ride the vaporettos and the buses. (the Gondola is near too). The hotel room is nice and comfy with a little view. Buffet breakfast is good but no hot items. We just settled with boiled eggs and cereals. There's also a terrace seating outside. The check-in staff was very helpful in providing local info. One note: you have to pay cash during checkout for the occupancy tax.

Beautiful and convenient!”
We loved staying at the Hotel Gardena, we were taking a cruise out of Venice and it was not far from the bus station or the port! Staff was so courteous, breakfast was delicious and the rooms were spacious! We will definitely be staying there again!

This is it!”
We arrived by bus from marco polo airport, wanted to be next to train station to make way to Florence, without having to break our backs with luggage walking from the centre, as we saw many tourist like this while we were there. Note: Venice is a walking city. So this was perfect. The manager was there, and knew us by name as if he were expecting us. Made us feel at home and comfortable in a new place. Briefly explained the what-and where of Venice, then was out of our way. We are a fairly young couple, no fuss, no frills, no children, backpack carriers. Just wanted a clean and comfortable stay after a day of being out. Observations: our room was Italian themed- very amusing, and seemed newly renovated. The door card was not as sensitive to open as it should be (overheard other guests saying so too), also needed to be slammed shut to close. Again, these may be because it all new. Room was cleaned surprisingly, because we didn't ask for it, though nothing was missing, so do lock up your stuff in the closet Or do hang the Do not disturb over the door knob. Lift was small and slow- typical in an aged building. Had unassuming courtyard rooftop view. Nice and quiet. breakfast was good enough. All in all, a very very very good hotel choice for our needs.

Excellent Location”
It’s really near the train station. It’s opposite the train station, and we had to cross a bridge. As per in Venice, there are many bridges and it’s common to cross bridges. We had the best room with nice view! However, the blanket was so thin and our beds were quite hard in our opinions. Then again, different people have different perspectives. However, there was no toothbrush and toothpaste and bathroom slippers. Hence, if these matters to the travellers, they should bring their own. Our towel was stained and we had to bring it down to the reception to get it changed. On the second day, the person didn’t give us bottled water after Housekeeping. It didn’t really bother us as we bought our own bottle. The lobby is spacious and nice! Helpful receptionist, special mention of Alexandre, who was exceptionally helpful and cheerful! We enjoyed the simple breakfast. The lady serving us coffee and tea was great! She’s so cheerful and she’s always so prompt in clearing our plates. The toilet is clean. It took us about 30 minutes to walk to San Marco, which was expected. We walked much in Venice, but we weren’t tired and bored because there are so many shops on the way.

Very good”
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Gardena, the front desk staff was friendly and we greatly appreciated the beautiful room we were upgraded to. The Hotel is well situated for exploring Venice and for taking public ferries, but the area it is in is very quiet at night. We tried to go for a 9:30PM drink on a Saturday night and struggled to find something close by that was open and still taking guests. The complimentary breakfast selection was decent but the coffee was undrinkable and while they say breakfast is from 7:30-10AM they do not replenish the spread, so when we came down at 9AM on Sunday things were already very empty and picked over. Finally, they should make it clear to guests that the tourist tax has to be paid in cash at check out, as no one mentioned this to us and I ended up having to run to an ATM as we check out, almost missing our bus to the airport. It would have been easy to make sure I had remaining cash if I had been forewarned of this cash fee.

Lovely place just a few minutes away from the train station.”
Upon check in we were greeted warmly, and also given a nice place for a lunch recommendation. We booked the superior canal view which was great: room was clean, toilet and shower was separated, and view was lovely. The only hiccup was is that Google maps (which we relied on a bit in venice) wouldn't direct us to the hotel. Location is correct, but directions went to bus station, so upon arriving look for the hotel directly. (Funnily enough, Google maps location is correct. Just directions was off.) It's at the corner from the main canal to a smaller canal.

Quaint, clean Hotel in a very convenient location.”
Thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in this Venice Hotel. It is in a very convenient location and within walking distance of many attractions, including the water taxi which travels the Grand Canal. Quiet room, with clean linen and a very confortable bed, along with a modern, clean bathroom and nice high pressure hot water. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel ”
It was a very nice stay in Venice. Easy to find the hotel according to the map. The room was clean and tidy, and the bed was comfortable. However, it was easy to hear people talking since the room was on the ground floor and close to the entrance and lobby. Overall, it was a nice hotel to stay.

Ideal location”
We stayed on the top floor - with a view of the courtyard which was pleasant but of course we could have paid extra for the canal view. + location was perfect - we took the express bus from Marco Polo airport at around 11:30pm and arrived at Piazzale Roma at 11:50pm - from there it took a 5-10min walk to the hotel and so saved hiking throughout Venice pathways with luggage as well as any water taxis. + Breakfast was simple but filling + Staff were very helpful and attentive to us. + Small hidden gem of a bar - Arcicchetti Bakaro 1min walk where you can order (v. cheap) drinks and sit on the steps of the canal with a view of all the lights bouncing off the water at night. 100% would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Venice

Great Value and Location”
Although the rooms were dated and a little small, we were pleasantly surprised when we stepped off the shuttle bus from the airport and the hotel was 600metres away. The staff were amazing and we were so close to everything. I would definitely recommend this hotel to people visiting Venice

Great Location and Service”
Great location (about 5 min walk from the S.Lucia train station), staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic. Only thing I would complain was the wifi in the hotel was slowwwwww.. and difficult to connect at times. We voiced this concern to the manager and he mentioned he'll look into it. Overall a great place to stay for our 2 day trip in Venice. Thanks.
