Exceptional”
Hotel Gimmond Kyoto is well located only a few minutes walk from the Karasumeoike station. This meant that it was easy to get there from Kyoto station, but also it was close enough to the centre that I was able to walk to Nijo Castle and Nishiki Markets with no problems at all. The staff were very welcoming and very politely explained that there are constructions going on until 2019 (which I was aware of since it had been on their website). I personally I was never in the hotel during the day so I didn’t hear any construction noises, but can understand that if you need to stay in the room during the day with a migraine that those noises would hardly be helpful. The room I found to be clean and simple. I was provided with a face towel, a bath towel, normal toiletries as well as a yukuta (PJs). I spent most of my time outside which meant i ate out, but there is also a Japanese restaurant and a Italian restaurant in the hotel. I would not hesitate to come back when i visit Kyoto again.

Wonderful location and great service”
Of course the room is smaller like most rooms in Japan but we loved it! Great service and after we picked up maps at the front desk and from the tourist information desk at Kyoto Station, we had no trouble getting around. It is in walking distance of not only a subway station, but also two main attractions in Kyoto, the Imperial Palace and Park and also Nijo Castle. There were also multiple food options right down the road close to the subway station and not to mention a 7-11 across the street. Definitely recommend hotel Gimmond Kyoto anyone visiting Kyoto!

Clean, comfortable, close to trains.”
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Gimmond Kyoto. Was good value, as I expected from the price. Very centrally located, easy 10 min walk to the main shopping area, with shops in the back street that you can look at along the way. 3-5 mins from the train station that is three stops to Kyoto, depending on how fast you walk. Enjoyed my stay, felt very safe as a single traveler at this hotel, was able to get a quick bite to eat at the Italian restaurant downstairs when all else failed. Overall nice hotel, good location, reasonable price.

Great Price and Location!”
Our stay at Hotel Gimmond Kyoto was a great one. The room was as I expected and perfect for a couple or a single person for the night or maybe even a few nights. We drove out to Kyoto and were worried about finding parking but the hotel has a small parking lot behind the building so it worked out great for us. They spoke good English and were very amicable. The room was very clean. The location was perfect for what we had planned. Just about equal distance to Nijo Castle or Gion district/Nishiki Market. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a one nighter or few nighters.

Great location hotel within Kyoto”
We stay in Hotel Gimmond Kyoto for 5 days during our visit. We had some trouble trying to find the hotel during the first day as the map differs from what i see on the actual day of arrival. However, the stay was a pleasant one still. The room is very clean and the staff are able to speak english. The hotel location are very close to many site seeing spot within Kyoto. It will be a good hotel to choose for people wanted to travel within Kyoto.

A Good Hotel to stay in Kyoto.”
We are very satisfied with our stay at Gimmond Kyoto Hotel. I left behind a personal item and emailed the hotel if they can send it back to me by mail and they immediately acted on my request. Very efficient customer service. I can recommend the hotel to my family and friends who will be traveling to Kyoto in the future.

Hotel Gimmond”
The Hotel Gimmond in centrally located for Kyoto Centre. The two subway lines (North-South and West-East) intersect at the nearest subway station making it easy to get quickly to most areas of the city. We found the staff friendly and remembered our room numbers such that the keys were in our hands at reception before we attempted any of our poor Japanese language skills. Very clean hotel and staff attentive to our needs. We would recommend this hotel strongly.

Nice hotel in a great location”
The Hotel Gimmond Kyoto was a decent hotel for the price. The rooms and facilities are a bit dated, however we could not fault the cleanliness of the hotel and the room (a double) was a decent size by Japanese standards. The hotel is a short walking distance (10-15 minutes) from the main shopping and dining streets and a very short walk to the subway station (which is conveniently where the two Kyoto subways lines cross). There are also dozens of small restaurants in the area around the hotel. The rooms all have 100Mbs LAN connections to the Internet, but no WiFi (so my iPhone would not work). There are also two paid (100 Yen for 10 minutes) Internet PCs in the lobby. We would definitely stay at the hotel again.

Really good location”
The Kyoto Gimmond hotel was really value for the money, and the location just great. Really easy access to central Kyoto sights and public transport. Restaurant was also good value for the money. We liked also the possibility to by public transport tickets from the reception, and relatively cheap internet connection. Beer/soft drink automat was also nice.

What a great place to stay.”
Gimmond turned out to be an amazing surprise. It's extremely well located -within minutes of subway and bus stops, right in the middle of downtown Kyoto. The staff spoke perfect English and was always willing to help us with anything we asked, from direction to a temple, how to use the buses and buying a bus pass, to finding a coin laundry 5 minutes away. Internet worked perfectly and they even have a beer vending machine on one of the floors. Breakfast was OK, a good deal for the money.

Gimmond ”
Gimmond Kyoto is located fairly close to JR Kyoto station making it easy to access by taxi. Alternatively you can get there by metro (about 2 or 3 stop form Kyoto main station). It's within walking distance (30 min) or 1 stop with subway from the Nijo castle (highly recommended) and the Imperial Palace. For shopping/restaurents the Teramachi shopping arcade is located within 5 minuttes walk. Good value for the money.

Clean, very helpful staff”
Hotel Gimmond was a very comfortable business hotel. All front desk staff were able to speak English very well and they were very helpful. They went out of their way to help us book tours and look up websites for attractions we wanted to visit. There is a subway station that is located close to the hotel, so it's very easy to go to Kyoto Central station, rather than catching a bus or walking. It's on a quiet street with mainly businesses on the street but is close enough to the main shopping streets. Really loved staying here.

Close to Manga Museum”
Very centrally located, close to Kamasura Oike underground station. The Manga museum is close by and worth a visit even for non-Japanese people. It takes about 15-20 minutes on foot to the Imperial Palace. There are many restaurants and convenience stores in the neigbourhood. We stayed over the autumn festival and all hotels were very full and overpriced. This is why we haven chosen the Gimmond and we were pleasantly surprised to find such a fine hotel at a reasonable price. I will definitely return. The romms as fairly big and the staff friendly and they speak good English. We had to stay one more night due to the arrival of a Taifun and the staff gave us the needed instructions what to do and what not and what times it is unsave to go outside.

nice hotel in central location”
I stayed in hotel Gimmond for 2 nights during their Kyoto summer festival. First of all the location is very centrally located. The hotel was quite nice, and yes the rooms were "Japanese size". The staff were friendly and the restaurant downstairs was lovely. Would stay there again

Old but good”
I enjoyed staying at Gimmond Hotel. The hotel is located just 50mt from a subway station and just a stop to Nijo Castle (the former residence for Ieyasu Tokugawa) and that is REALLY worth to visit. The hotel itself is a bit old and the rooms are quite small for european standards but they are clean and the size is about the same for every hotel I've been in Japan, so that make them "normal size". Staff speaks good english. I loved having LAN internet connection in the room (if you have a laptop) free of charge. That really helped to work and to keep in touch with your beloved ones. I loved Kyoto and I'll definitely came back (for sightseeing next time) and I'll came back again at Gimmond Hotel.

Well located and good value for money! ”
I stayed in Hotel Gimmond for 4 nights in total and had a really good experience. The hotel is located just 5 min walk from the train station, making it extremely convenient. Travelers with luggage please look for the lift in the station instead of taking the long flight of stairs which I did! The rooms were small but that was expected so it was not an issue. Best thing was that the room and toilet was clean and very comfortable to live in. The hotel staff were also helpful when I approached them asking for recommendations for breakfast around the area. Definitely a hotel I would recommend others to try out. Thumbs up!

Good value and location”
This hotel is nicely located only handful of blocks away from the Karasuma Oike station on the Karasuma line, which is only 3 stops from the main Kyoto Station. There are tons of things nearby, including Nijo-jo Castle, the Imperial Gardens and Palace, and an outdoor mall. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was no-frills and tight for a 6"3 guy, especially the bathroom. The bed was cozy and I got good rest. I did not have breakfast included and didn't try out either restaurant (the prices looked a little expensive). The one thing I didn't like was that you were required to give your key to the front desk every time you left and then pick it up when you came back. It was just an awkward experience. Definitely would recommend this hotel for someone looking for a budget-friendly hotel centrally located in Kyoto.

Great location but small rooms”
both the japanese and the italian restaurant at the gimmond were good and at typical kyoto prices. there are too many shops and restaurants in walking distance to count. bring your walking shoes to see the city. subway, bus, and train connections to outlying sights are generally well marked in english.

Great Value, Great Location, and Clean”
No complaints with Hotel Gimmond! We used mostly the bus stop almost right across the street to get to the key attractions we wanted to get to, and at most walked 8 minutes to another bus stop. We got the Small Double room and it was just enough space for 2 people to be comfortable. Room was clean and had nice Shiseido soaps for use. Good deal for what we got!

Great location, clean, would stay again”
Very close to one of the subway station, hotel was in comfortable walking station to downtown Kyoto (kawaramachi area/ gion area). We had a very nice room and the staff were very friendly. Smoking is allowed in the lobby. Walls were a bit thin, and the Cantonese people that were living next door were talking loudly throughout the night, but this is not the hotel's fault. Cantonese people are known to speak loud.
