Comfortable, easy to access, lovely old building”
We stayed here for one night and our stay was very pleasant. We got the train and then bus into Nuwara Eliya and there is a bus stop just by the Glendower at the bottom of the golf course (before the bus station). The building itself is a beautiful, old colonial build with large, comfortable rooms. The restaurant is tasty though not Sri Lankan, it serves chinese food. It is slightly pricey for Sri Lankan standards, and I'm not sure the dishes are very authentic, but it is tasty food. The hotel is located a short, easy walk from the main town centre. It is not a cheap place to stay but ok for 1 night if you need a night away from b and b's. One tip: don't rely on the staff for travel info, they got all the bus times wrong and we ended up leaving far too early!!

charming British architecture”
Spectacular and well maintained garden (but not the only one in Nuwara Eliya). Have other restsurants within 15m to choose from if dont feel like eating at the hotel. Fabulous bar. Get anything you want under cosy environment. Solid wifi connection and hot water. Warm blankets. 1 min from bus station by tuk tuk.

Nice hotel, bit dated, brilliant staff”
Hotel Glendower is a Tudor themed property in nuwara Eliya. Upon arrival, the owner, Norman greeted us and was able to arrange a good value driver for Horton plains and onward journey to Ella. The room was quite dated, the bath could do with replacement and overall it was quite dark but of you are fond of the quaint European vibe then you might like this. On the plus side, a warm duvet was provided as it is cold at night and the hot water was reliable and verged on too hot at times! We took tea in the lovely, manicured gardens which was a nice relief from the hustle and bustleof the streets. There isn't much in nuwara eliya as it's mostly there to cater for visitors to Horton plains. We ate in the hotel, the king prawn, in the evening though and unfortunately though the food was okay, it was very pricey, especially by srilankan standards. We did have a bottle of water included in our room which was nice and be hotel did make us a take away breakfast for our trip which wa much appreciated. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel but would say that the owner Norman's help was the best thing about our stay.

Lovely older style bungalow”
Stayed here with my husband and Mum for a few nights whilst we were exploring Nuwara Eliya. The hotel has an older style colonial look and feel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Centrally located on the same avenue as the Grand Hotel and the Hill Club. If you cant get a booking at the Grand then this is the next best thing!

Very good stay in Nuwara Ellyia”
We spent one night in Nuwara Ellyia and this hotel was a good choice. The location is very good, nice rooms and a very nice house. Its an old english house very well conserved. The hotel is clean and the staff working there is very helpful. We had a problem with our booking and they help us to solve it. Breakfast is good and all the staff very kind

Very enjoyable”
The first view of the hotel takes you to the English countryside, especially with the golf course across the road. Check in is efficient and friendly and the rooms are big and airy with a very comfortable bed. The public areas of the hotel feature wood and leather and timber. The bar is like stepping back in time - in a good way. I had no intention of having more than one beer but the excellent service, pleasant surroundings and good company kept me a lot longer. I ordered form the restaurant menu (Chinese) while having a drink and was called when my meal was ready. The food was very good, if a bit pricey. Norman, the manager, takes a keen interest in the running of the hotel and was quite visible and helpful. There's a lovely, relaxed atmosphere to the Glendower that's not easy to create or to maintain. They have it just right. I'll be back.

Central Location”
Central location with all the attractions and mini mart nearby. Easy walk to town centre and easy to get Tuk Tuk ride to other places such as tour around lake. Other bigger hotels are close by and easy walk to visit for a drink or meal but Glendower is nice small hotel to stay at for adults rather than staying at the larger hotels.

It's Okay...”
The Glendower is excellently located. A two minute walk from the park, eight minutes from the City Centre. It's clean - but not quite. A musty smell seems to permeate the common areas. The double room had two single beds pushed up together. Not quite what we expected. The service took some time. An hour to get a cup of tea? Unexceptionable, really. So overall, a 6.8 might be a bit on the high side - but not by much.

Exceptional”
We stayed one night. It’s in the town center and two doors down from the towns best restaurant (Indian and good pricing). Plus it is very close to The Grand Hotel for the famous High Tea - a must!!! Would stay here again for sure

Value for money”
We were on a round trip and wanted to stay at the centre of town for one night. It was a great location. I was a bit worried before i went there as the reviews said the hotel was a bit dirty, but looks like they have done something about it and overall the hotel was clean and nice. Staff was great. If you are on a quiet and peaceful holiday, i would not recommend it as the neighborhood is noisy. I would stay there again.

we stayed for two nights in glendower and really enjoyed the stay. the place looks to be a an old bunglow which has been modified. its very well maintained and clean although the building does show its age. hot water was available 24 hrs and the room was very spacious. overall a great place to stay and relax.

Almost perfect but the hot water supply.”
We booked a junior suite which is quite big. This hotel is centuries old with many old wares. We really like it. The positive side is that they have nice staff who are very helpful. The British breakfast was great. We took two kids at six with us. The hotel offered separate breakfast wares so kids eat with us for free as otherwise we would have to pay additionally for kids meal. Also, without being asked we were offered an extra bed for my kid for free in the second night , which is very kind. They also gave us an extra blanket upon request. Well for the negative part, I would say that is the hot water supply. In the first night, we finally got hot water for shower, but in the second one, they tried but cannot fix the problem. Only some warm water we got. So, finally we could not take a shower at all. If the hotel invest a bit and fix this, it will be a perfect one.

Old charm hotel with character”
This is a old hotel with character. The room is huge with plenty of space. The surrounding is beautiful and it is close to the town centre. It also boosts a well-known restaurant King Prawn. If you like cheaper food, there is a local reastaurant just 50m away with Sri Lankan food, or you can walk to the nextdoor Grand Hotel for a buffet lunch/ dinner or afternoon high tea. Oh, and staffs are very helpful and friendly.

Great historical hotel”
Adorable historical hotel in an excellent location! So glad we decided to stay here, and a very helpful staff....and super cozy room. If you like historical charm, this is great value for money and it is just down the road from both the Grand Hotel for their high tea, and the Hill Club.

Value for Money. Good Location. Room floor not clean. Staff a bit unhelpful”
Location: The location of the hotel is quite good (Victoria park is next door and Gregory lake is a short walk away). Nanu Oya railway station is about 15 mins away by car. If you want to do the Single Tree Hill hike, that's also near (starting point ~1km away). Amenities: The floor carpet of the room was quite unclean. Good flow of hot water in shower. Beds reasonably comfortable. Staff: One staff was quite unhelpful when I sought his help on which train to take from Nanu Oya to Ella. His reply was "You have a driver right. You can ask him". Found that to be quite rude. Relied on good old TripAdvisor reviews to choose my train :) Overall: Good value for money. They need to clean the rooms well though.

Good”
The staff were very good and helped us whenever we needed it. The room could do with a few retouches however nuwaraeliya is known to have old British style bungalows and hotels so once can deal with it. Previous reviews state problems with the bed however ours was in a very good state and looked new. All in all we had a good stay.

Comfortable stay”
We had a comfortable stay for 2 nights. Walking distance to central market. We ate dinner in town. Good breakfast at Glendower of the standard toast/eggs/fruit/tea.
