A Pleasant Night at Grand Bach Kyoto”

Location, Cleanliness, Service

Grand Bach Kyoto is a nice hotel, we loved to stay here. We looked for the hotel in Kyoto since 3 months in advance, and we found that this hotel meet our inquiry, good price, location, free wifi in room and facilities. But for last minute booking i think the price was overrated, perhaps because of it's hard to find a hotel during the Gion Matsuri Festival (3rd largest festival in Japan). Fash check in and check out, hot bathtub also available (separated by gender) but we didn't have enough time to try. Free coffee, tea in restaurant as complimentary and o chazuke as supper (it's unique, rice with various pickles and hot green tea in a bowl). Our room was quite small, but as for Japan standard it is okay. There is one sofa for 2 persons inside the room, and we can put our two medium luggages as well. The bathroom is so nice and equipped with high tech shower. If you are coming from Tokyo (JR Shinkansen) you have to walk, it's quite far with big luggages, almost 15-20 minutes, but you don't have to go out of Kyoto Station, just follow the signs via underground passage to find exit 11, or better to ask information center before you decide to walk. From exit 11, it's so close and easy to find the hotel, there is a map in the hotel's website. If you are using Hankyu Line it will be an advantage. You can walk from the hotel to Gion district, Pontocho Street and Nishiki Market. If you want to visit Arashiyama area in Kyoto, Hankyu Kawaramachi Station is just 5 min walk from the hotel. Easy access, nice hotel.

Highly recommended when you are in Kyoto. The hotel has strategic location. ”

The hotel's entrance was so simple. Not so lavish for a hotel. Breakfast needs variety. But location is perfect for a newcomer in Kyoto. What added convenience to the location was the very warm welcome of the staffs of Grand Bach. They were so helpful to us & will do everything to assist you. Special thanks to Miyaku, Shota & Kyoko Kodama, their Hotel Section Mgr. Kudos to you all as you made our stay in Kyoto memorable. The facilities are clean & love the shower with high pressure. I will return to Hotel Grand Bach, Kyoto.

Great hotel in the middle of Kyoto”

The staff was wonderful.. The room was cozy, well thought of. The hotel was centrally located.

We had a wonderful experience at the Hotel Grand Bach Kyoto. We arrived late in the evening and the staff made us feel welcome, They gave us their full attention with our so many questions. The room was small but was beautifully furnished. It was quiet, very clean and very comfortable. The sheets were always crisp and clean. The location was centrally located being just across the Ninishki market and 10 minute walk to Gion. The bus stops to most attractions are not more than a few minutes away. Being centrally located meant we were able to go back to the hotel a few times a day to get a quick rest or to drop off stuff from shopping. And it's also in the middle of the shopping district. I would not hesitate coming back to this hotel

The location is good and a walk distance to the airport limousine bus. The staffs are very friendly and polite. However, the room is a little small as we had 2 large luggage with us but that wasn't an issue at all as we just took our what we needed and kept our luggages aside. Excellent Concierge & Convenient Location”

Grand Bach is conveniently located on Shijo and one block away from Nikishi Market. The room was small but the hotel is modern and clean with a nice public bath facility. I have to say special thanks to the concierge Ms. Kyoko Kodama who was extremely informative and caring. She was truly helpful in planning transportations for my daughter and I. The hotel also provides useful maps on restaurants in the neighbourhood. I would stay in this hotel next time when I visit Kyoto for sure.

Food, amenities, and location

We had a great time at Hotel Grand Bach. If we ever find ourselves in Kyoto again we'll definitely consider booking. They have excellent amenities especially the hi-tech shower. The location was awesome since it's located right at the heart of Kyoto making traveling extremely easy. The only downside is the small room and the not well-ventilated smoking room.

location, brand new, best concierge

Hotel Grand Bach has the best location for tourists! It is a 5 minute walk to Gion, 1 minute walk to nearest subway station, right on the main shopping street! The hotel is new and beautiful, although with small Japanese rooms. We booked 2 twin rooms for our family of 6. Shower was high tech! Public bath present. Free light dinner snack at 9:30pm! Do not bring large suitcases though as there is no room for that! The concierge is the best and very helpful! The staff are very good too - even offered to bring our heavy luggage down the stairs to the subway. The nearest escalator to go up/down from the subway is at Daimaru department store (not Fuji Daimaru - there are 2), which is 100 meters down the street. I would definitely come back to this hotel!

Good location.”

We spent 3 nights in Standard Twin Rooms. The rooms are just fit for twin beds and are difficult to open a 28 inches luggage. Besides, the walls are thin so that our sleep might be interrupted by the next door. However, the location of hotel is at the core area of Kyoto and let us readily to immerse ourselves in Kyoto city's convivial atmosphere and unique cultural heritage. The hotel also provides complimentary soft drinks and Ochazuke. I will recommend Hotel Grand Bach Kyoto Select to those who would like to deeply explore Kyoto and don't want to waste time on traffic.

Location, staff, smelt amazing.

The staff here were so friendly! The whole experience of grand Bach was positive. It's a little hard to find at first but it's an amazing location. Right near the Kyoto indoor markets. Great for food, shopping and nightlife. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful and kind. Only thing I can fault was the public baths which weren't very westerner friendly. Very clean and it smells amazing in the lobby!

Besides that, it is also conveniently can be accessed via Hankyu line or Subway. You can also get into buses at Shijo Kawaramachi to go to attractions like Kinkakuji, Ginkakuji, Nijo Castle etc. Not to mention, it has also a nice bath for the hotel guests to soak in for relaxation after long day travelling. Hotel Grand Bach was a lovely stay, the room as many are in Japan on the smaller side, but it was more than enough room to relax, pack and be cozy with your significant other. It was located in a great street/shopping area with close public transportation options. If you're looking for something that is cost efficient, clean, well maintained, and centrally located this is a great option!

Cozy and clean rooms, great location near Nishiki Market.”

Hotel is conveniently located near a few train stations although if you are planning your trip around a JR pass, opting for a hotel closer to the main Kyoto Station would be more ideal. Nishiki market is within walking distance and the hotel is surrounded by a shopping belt enough to occupy you. Accessing the hotel itself can be a bit of a challenge the first time as their reception is at the 2nd floor and the 1st floor entrance is at a relatively unnoticeable alley off the main street. A directional sign is present in Japanese so look out for that. Rooms are very clean and amenities are provided on a daily basis. A comfortable and well maintained public bath is also available for those who are looking to experience a mini onsen and getting comfortable with the idea of being in the onsen environment before experiencing the real deal.

Stayed 1 night in February 2016

not quite like i expected...”

the room is small without any view, there was only a wall. maybe its the matter of this is a budget plan i choose. so i have to say i was not happy with the room i got. the entrance of hotel is diffcult to find out, there was only a board shows GB.... for god sake, how could i know GB means Grand Bach Kyoto? Front desk staff was nice and friendly, good in English. it takes 10 min to subway by walk.
