We seldom think something is perfect, but this Hotel Stay cannot be better for us. The location is amazing as usual for a granvia hotel, right outside the Shinkansen station and directly connected. We got a high floor room which meant the view was amazing, directly facing the Shinkansen tracks and overlooking Hiroshima city. Japanese hotels have great amenities, but Granvia Hiroshima really went out of the way with their amenities. Literally everything you can think of is available in the room or for loan free-of-charge. Room size was really decent and we especially love that there was a dedicated cupboard to hang our clothes, not the norm for many Japanese hotels due to space constrain. Wifi was a little peculiar though, in our room there's this exact spot we have to go to get great connectivity, otherwise it's hit and miss. Pity we only stayed for 2 night, would love to stay longer in this hotel.
A big YES”
It is beside separated by a wall to JR TRAINS, shinshibashi bullet train, hop on hop off tour busses, taxis, a big drug store a mall, souvenir shops, restaurants, and 3 big groceries... BRAVO... previously we stayed at granvia Okayama ITS THE SAME SCENARIO. Rooms are big! Amenities are a lot! Aircon and heater and humidifiers! Room is big as in really big... at granvia Okayama 10 days stay no problem. At Hiroshima 4 days and no problems. Staff accommodating. I inquired about a certain medicine with agoda and the staff looked for me and informed me that agoda notified them because I was looking for Tylenol and not aspirin which they have... from Fukuoka bullet train my family arrived at the granvia Hiroshima door steps... the following day rode Jr train beside granvia to miya jima no problem and then bullet train to Tokyo ... restaurants below were trip advisors top... will stay again
Fantastic for a short visit to Hiroshima”
The biggest selling point is the the location of the hotel adjacent to the JR Shinkansen station. I believe it is owned and operated by Japan Rail, which makes it so accessible and accommodating to weary travelers. If you have a limited amount of time to see Hiroshima (we stayed overnight) this is by far the best option. We arrived around noon and walked to the lobby directly from the station without going outside. they took our luggage as it was too early to check in, and off we went to Miyajima Island. we were not as prepared, but the staff was so sweet and helpful getting us on our way. We returned later in the afternoon, and we were shown to our room, which was a good size and very clean. the concierge was helpful in showing us the sightseeing loop bus that conveniently stops in front and was also an easy way to get to the downtown area where we could get some dinner. the next morning we used the same bus to go to the memorial park/museums. We checked out after, got some lunch, and were on our way on board another train to another city. All would not have been possible if not for the convenience and hospitality we experienced at the Granvia. We loved Hiroshima, and would like to return again, and would definitely stay at the Granvia again!
Perfectly convenient for short stay”
We only had one night in Hiroshima during our trip through Japan, and Granvia was perfect for arriving by train as it is literally at the train station. From there it was very easy to go to the Peace Museum and park areas and to have a myriad of dining options on the way back that night. The following morning, we went to Miyajima and they allowed us to leave our bags securely checked at the lobby after we checked out. This allowed us to take the ferry to Miyajima and come back for our bags before catching a train later in the afternoon. We were on a tight time constraint in Hiroshima and Hotel Granvia was perfect for us. It is is a more formal hotel and everything is of a high standard; room was nice but small like most in Japan. it was too bad we could not stay longer here!
EXCELLENT proximity, YOU are right beside the train station and you don't even know it.”
Hotel Granvia Hiroshima is the perfect position to explore Hiroshima with your JR Pass. You can visit all the tourist hot spots not only by train but by bus as well. We travelled to the Atomic Bomb Dome, Peace Park ( be sure to go the statue of Sadako if you know the story) and Art Museum which is near the most peaceful and tranquil Japanese garden (chill in this place while you feed the fish and turtles). And even more to see at he Miyajima island, massive Torii gates and stunning views up the rope way, don't forget to pat the deer roaming everywhere. This hotel is excellent value for money - included strong internet and generous, delicious western breakfast (loved the citrus yogurt). Nice view of mountains and surrounding city.
We loved the Hotel Granvia Hiroshima. It was directly connected to Hiroshima Station. It was within walking distance of many great restaurants and shopping areas. It was a short train ride to get to some amazing tourist locations such as the Peace Memorial and the A-Dome. The hotel was so nice. We were blown away with it from the moment we stepped foot inside the doors. The room was so much larger than any other room we got in Japan. The staff was very helpful when we had questions on how to get around the city. The food was pretty good, but was a bit pricey. Overall we loved our stay at this hotel.
Excellent hotel, conveniently located ”
Good sized, well appointed rooms in a four star hotel that is conveniently located. Across the parking lot is the Sheraton Hotel, which also very nice but much more expensive. The Granvia has good restaurants, a large, attractive lobby, and friendly, efficient staff. We toured the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and surrounding sites the first day. The second day we took the ferry to Miyajima. Granvia Hotel is next to the Hiroshima rail station, so it is a short train ride to the Miyajima ferry port. The Japan Rail Pass covers the cost of both the train and the ferry.
Perfect for one-night family stay”
While we really enjoyed the Granvia adjoining Hiroshima station, I'm glad we didn't book the Granvia for our other stays. As we were only in Hiroshima one night, I wanted convenience in terms of locale and breakfast, so this hotel was a good choice. The rooms are bland, a bit larger than usual for a Japanese chain, and breakfast was excellent. For a longer stay with family or with hubby, I would choose a larger apartment-hotel or something more romantic. We were in and out by shinkansen so this was a good choice but I wouldn't stay for more than a day or two as it lacks character.
Comfortable hotel with very nice lobby”
The hotel is very conveniently located when arriving by shinkansen, with a small entrance to the hotel from the JR station building. I also had no trouble finding cheap tasty food nearby. My room was very clean, a good size and very comfortable and nice views of surrounding Hiroshima. The hotel had all the facilities I needed, including free internet. Service staff were very friendly and spoke good English. The hotel restaurant food was good as was the breakfast buffet. Overall I was happy and would use the Granvia Hotel again if visiting Hiroshima.
Lovely renovated rooms and great location”
for a japanese hotel, the rooms were quite spacious. the hotel has multiple options for restaurants and is conveniently located next to the hiroshima station. the hotel has banquet rooms and seems to host weddings. many stores close around new years, but the hotel granvia hiroshima had a special new years dinner available, which is a very nice option since new years is a family oriented holiday in japan.
Located right at the busy Hiroshima JR train station, Hotel Granvia Hiroshima allowed us to get around easily after conveniently dropping off our luggage straight away. Staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. The beds in Japan are sometimes known for their firmness so it was quite welcome to have softer comfortable beds and pillows in Granvia. Great stay and highly recommended.
Excellent in every way”
Booked this hotel online based on previous reviews and past experience staying at other Granvia hotels. Fantastic location adjacent to Hiroshima Station north entrance. You can literally step off the bullet train and walk into the hotel lobby. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Bellman brought our bags to the room and explained facilities. We could also store our bags at the hotel when we went on an overnight trip and returned for a 2nd night. Breakfast plan available but we didn't have it. Would definitely stay again.
Great location and service”
the granvia hotel in hiroshima is located directly outside the station and bus terminal which makes arrival pleasantly easy. the staff are extremely helpful and polite and the rooms are clean and of decent size with nice views of the city and surrounding mountains. below the hotel you will find an excellent range of restaurants. for those who do not mind spending some time on their feet, the granvia is within walking distance to the hiroshima castle and peace memorial museum - the latter being an absolute must for any visitors to hiroshima.
Ticks all the boxes of a great hotel”
We stayed in Hiroshima for 2 nights and would definitely recommend staying at Hotel Granvia. Firstly, the hotel is directly outside the station (literally 2 minute walk) which is fantastic particularly if you have heavy luggage. The rooms are very spacious with ample room to move around and re-pack your bag. The buffet breakfast was sensational with a wide range of options and big dining area. The hotel has a bar called "Mayflower" which I would recommend you go to; very classy but still reasonably priced and has a relaxing atmosphere.
Superb location and unparallelled service”
Right next to Hiroshima Station. Superb location. Clean room and friendly to the mobility impaired.. You don’t have to climb over a threshold to use the bathroom. Our luggage was brought up to our room while we were out and about before our check-in. Great service! Unlimited use of the provided mobile phone for local and overseas calls up till 40G was a WOW factor. Local Japanese food at their Setouchi restaurant was beautifully prepared and delicious. Would love to stay at a Granvia hotel again if we are able to catch a good deal. We really appreciated their omotenashi service. Hats off!!
Great location, friendly staff, comfortable room”
We were impressed by how nice the hotel room and facilities were for the price that we booked our room! The front desk staff were very personable and provided great information for tourist activities. They even gave us a small souvenir as we were on our honeymoon. The hotel is connected to Hiroshima Station and is a short walk from street car and tourist buses that travel downtown and other popular locations. It was the most convenient location of the 7 hotels and inns we stayed in during our trip. Our experience made us want to book other Hotel Granvia locations for our next trip.
Great Staff & Location”
Staff was polite & helpful. Moved our luggage from lobby to room then room to room while we were out as we had split bookings during our 10-night stay at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima. Comfortable bed & quiet. Firm & soft pillows provided with a spare in closet. Directly linked to train station. Airport limousine bus stop is a minute or two by foot. Will stay again when price is right.
Doesn't get any closer to a JR station then this. ”
It was a very conforting welcome after a 5 hr flight delay, 6 hr flight and a 1.5 hr Shinkansen ride from Osaka. We chose Granvia as we wanted a hotel close to the station knowing we will be tired after the long trip. They did not dissapoint us. The room size was large for Japanese hotel standards. The beds were well made and helped with our fatigue. The location is very good, especially as we were there for only a night, before travelling to Kyoto. It's at Hiroshima's transport hub, with Shinkansen, trains, tramps, busses and subways criss cross Hiroshima Station. (Trivia: the station was put back into operations within a week of the city being obliterated by that single bomb, playing its crucial part in providing logistics to recovery & rebuilding)
Brothers in Japan”
Great place to stay this was my second stay in Hiroshima. I wouldn't book anywhere else. Location to Hiroshima station and tours make this hotel very convenient. The selection of nearby restaurants and information about your plus the friendly helpful staff all make the Hotel Granvia Hiroshima a good choice.
Just what we needed”
We arrived at Hiroshima tired and a little worse for wear after a night out in Kyoto. Thankfully we'd booked the Granvia which was located in the train station and was one of the best hotel experiences we had in Japan. Exceptional attention to detail is what makes the Granvia special, with a fabulous range of toiletries, lovely soft sheets, newly packaged slippers and windows that actually open, we couldn't have asked for more!
