The best thing I love amongst the great service, good location is the pillow. I regretted not buying their pillow home. I had such a good sleep especially the red eye flight and the day's walking around the city. The only thing I hope the hotel can change is the having a shower room instead of a bathtub for shower.

Fantastic location with easy access to the station and the nearby malls and eateries. Although, with the exception of the size of the bathroom, the rooms themselves weren't all that different from what we could get for less from a standard business hotel.

Poor Breakfast Experience”
We were at the breakfast restaurant at 8.55am. A the restaurant closes at 9am, we just asked to be allowed to takeaway coffee. But the staff exercised nil flexible and declined. There were other diners who are still having breakfast when we arrived.

Hotel Granvia is located 2 or 3 minutes' walk from the Wakayama JR station. It is a new building with a well-trained staff--exceptionally courteous. The room was very clean and had everything one needs. I spent two nights in Wakayama, the first night here, and the second night at a hotel 4 minutes further away from the station, at 2/3 the price. The other hotel was fine for me, though those who don't like older buildings, a slight background smell of smoking, and smaller rooms would do better to stay at the Hotel Granvia.

Loved my short stay in Wakayama at The Hotel Granvia Wakayama. Conveniently located just outside the Wakayama Station, with lots of eateries, bus station and shopping mall all just outside the hotel! Ms Mizakaya at Front Desk made an exception and graciously allowed me to store my luggage for 2 days while I went off to Kawayu Onsen, even when I was leaving Wakayama upon my return. Thank you! I'll definitely stay at The Granvia Wakayama again.

Clean, functionally stylish, right at the JR Station”
The Wakayama Hotel Granvia is a nice hotel. The rooms are upscale "business" hotel style, in Japanese terms, meaning they are not 5-star but more than adequate for the business traveller. One can reserved through discount services, making it an excellent value, and the staff have been especially helpful and friendly, and remembered me from my prior stay. We did communicate in Japanese, but their courteous and professional demeanor suggests they are probably well-trained to interact with guests in English too. I gave the facilities a 4 instead of a 5 because their work station was not set up to make digital pdf's from my documents, only hard copy prints. The lobby is surprisingly sparse for such a large space, but there are numerous coffee shops nearby, either the one just off the lobby or next door accessible by connecting door to the departments store complex. It is located about as close as you're going to get to the train station without being on top of it.

Decent mid-tier hotel”
My wife and I stayed for two nights in early October. We took a shuttle bus from Kaisai International Airport to Wakayama JR station which was an easy journey. At Wakayama, you get off at the east side of the JR station, and you need to go through the underpass underneath the tracks to the west side of the station. Both sides have elevators, so there is no need to walk the stairs with your suitcases. You walk straight for about 50 meters and the hotel entrance is on your right hand side. It is not a new hotel, but quite modern and clean. This is a typical mid-tier hotel (there are more higher end hotels in the Granvia chain). The reception staff were nice. We had a Twin Superior Room which was of decent size with a small sofa and coffee table. We were able to open both suitcases on the floor at the same time. Wifi was good. Bathroom again quite typical. I borrowed a bicycle for free and cycled to the castle which took able 20 minutes. People cycle on the pavements, so it is quite safe and fun. Our package came with breakfast which, although not a feast, was decent enough. There are not a lot of sightseeing spots in Wakayama City, but if you are planning to go, I would recommend this hotel given its proximity to the JR station and restaurants, quality and cleanliness of the hotel (despite not having onsen).
